Should mention that the candy is there so they get used to her smell by the time it’s eaten through and don’t murder the queen.

@@wimeatsworld If, for some reason, you're completely sure the queen is accepted, but they're not eating through the candy fast enough- you can open that and release them. Also possibly useful for the initial packaging steps? In general you will never need to use it. :)

Oh, contraire... I don't think you have experienced the Africanized Killer Bees in earnest. I walked by a in ground hive, 20 feet away from the hole they came out of, and was swarmed by dozens in mere seconds.
I hit my EpiPen immediately and headed straight for the Emergent Room at the nearest hospital a five minute drive from where I was at. I had gotten stung four times; twice in the neck, once in the cheek, and once on the hand. by the time I got to the ER, I collapsed at the check in desk not able to breath, with my Do I in my hand. and one of the bees still stuck to my clothing. The nurse jumped over the counter and grabbed my secondary EpiPen and administered it while a second nurse called for a gurney. they stabbed a large gauge needle of woo through my chest and into my heart (I think) and I snapped back to, gasping for gulps of air, with the needle still in my chest.
Short version, the Africanized Killer Bees will attack unprovoked more often than many would think.

This is such a great point. So many people mistake bees for wasps/hornets. Hornets are a type of wasp. Wasps are not bees. Most of the time when people get attacked by what they think are bees, they are actually being attacked by wasps/hornets. So, what you said is even more true than what you described. Bees would hate hornets just as much as humans do, if they were capable of emotion. In fact, they’d probably hate them even more, since hornets decimate entire bee colonies.

I used to wonder how, in the 9 things of hell anyone could find the Queen among hordes of bees. It's not like she's wearing a crown and a fancy dress.
The first time I saw the Queen on my own, I was assisted, absurdly excited, and loved bees even more.
I grew up on a dead end street with 4 homes on one acre each. Reach acre was bought by my family when they immigrated to the US from England. They had to pay someone to create a dirt and gravel road so we all had access to our land and the homes built there.
My grandfather bought a few supplies every week with whatever money was left after bills and such. He never had a mortgage, if you can imagine it.
It was him who taught me about bees, and other beneficial insects and spiders, and he helped create a separate area where my brother and I could care for our own garden, and we earned money for weeding, working his garden, and helping you cut grass and (my least favorite job) taking the weed Wacker around the whole are and that meant the whole acre, around every tree, around his work shop, around each pile of his precious "stock" or as mom called it. His junk.
If he only collected metal, gears and such, I'd agree, but he organized everything and the various piles of material we're kept neat, and we're were never allowed to climb or play around them.
He started his own business, fixing gas ⛽ pumps.
Once they replaced them with the credit card activated pumps, he retired. He was known as a good man, fair, gifted with the ability to fix ANYTHING.
Between investment, social security and the pension paid by England for his service during WWII, Including swimming multiple soldiers out to the boats at Dunkirk, since some could not swim and most vessels could not get into the harbor. He had a defective bone condition (me too) but finally got cleared to join the fight, just like her kept helping anyone he could out to the boats.
I meant this to be one paragraph about my garden and lesson about bees my grandad taught me. I learned so much from him, I can never stop thinking of him.
My great grandmother got married, the fifth time (she was widowed, each time..) (My Grandad said it was the only way the poor buggers could be sure she couldn't find them. When I was older I got the joke.)
So, GGM had 3 daughters, her favorite was great aunt Audrey, most likely she actually loved her father. Then came to more husbands and 2 more daughters, Great aunt Esther (Etty) AND my Nana, Gladys Mary Mountain, married to Jonathon Everard Legge, both from Tyne and Wear, and a small home in Tynemouth, just north of Newcastle.
The house furthest down, at the end of our street belonged to Etty and my uncle Fred Cole. Next came my family's house. It was the main house and we were invited to live there when my Nana, and best friend, died and was buried on my 6th birthday. No one explained anything, and I didn't have a birthday that year. At the time I was waiting for my Nana to celebrate, but she never came back home.
My grandfather totally recreated their huge garage, and purchased and installed a new workshop in the back yard. His back door was just a few feet away, and since he didn't intend to waste space on a car, her was happy to move his tools from the wooden, dusty, spider metropolis and after looking my head in once, with him there, it was like looking into the mouth of hell. The sounded were huge, they was a yellow one and her huge round body 👅 terrified and reached me. Talk about nightmares. But we needed them to protect the gardens. Just like we're never killed need and always killed wasps and hornets.
My Nana dying then being buried on my birthday, it created bad energy around my birthday for the rest of my life. If you made a chat of every one of my worst experiences, they will either fall ON my birthday, or near it.
Like COVID. My symptoms started about 2 days after my birthday. I have half a dozen chronic, painful, rare, genetic, incurable illnesses. I had a flare of my Gastroparesis ( my digestive issues) and there was no slow build. Day 4 of sitting my guys out, smelling like a gangrenous cadaver was being shat, at high velocity and steam as if my intestines were on fire. My stomach felt like I'd swallowed Freddy Krueger was blindly slashing his way out. It ended after only 4 days, which was a month sooner than usual.
I was unsure, I scheduled all over. My eyelashes hurt. I should have some pulled muscles since the Exorcist has NOTHING on me in a GP Flare.
I think my temperature. I'm usually just a few degrees shy of 97°.

@@boxingfanazM.O.Bha, yes crazy, considerably more foolish. According to common Sense, which some lack these days, and US department of agriculture, without European style bees which pollinates over 75% of our food source crops, and fruits, without it we would be in a crippling Dyer situation. And accordingly 1/3 of the average American diet consist of bee pollinated foods. They are so very very important to us.

Yes, because for having a Queen bee, one baby has to be feed with royal jelly since birth.
The Queen lives much longer than a worker bee so if there's no others eggs, the colony disappears

Mostly but they need time to get used to her or they'll kill her. That's why there's the candy there and she's not released instantly into the hive, it usually takes a couple of days for her to be released by the other bees. However, even with being in the hive for a few days they can still reject and kill her.

@@a.g.demada5263it's not just one bee at least depending on the species some species feeds the larvae a royal jelly and it's a race against the clock then when the new queen emerges she will look for the larvae having the royal jelly and kill them and if multiple queens hatch at the same time it's a fight to the death until one queen remains

They dont instantly accept the queen. That is why she stays in the box a couple of days. The female worker bees are in charge of the hive. If they dont accept the queen, they have to find another queen. The point of the box is to keep queen safe while they get used to her scent, which generally enables them to accept her.
