    Hello Ralph,
    One of the many things I am enjoying about the JD-Xi is that we can use the Hold Key function on one synth voice, switch to another synth, use the Hold and Arp functions, and finally switch to the analogue synth to play over the deep layered sounds of the first two voices all together. I'm really enjoying layering the voices that way. I do wish each voice could have it's own filter assignments, but oh well.

    • @RalphBaumgartl
      @RalphBaumgartl  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the Hold Key / ARP function of the JD-Xi is very versatile. Individual filter assignments for each voice would be great, but that might have pushed the JD-Xi into another price range. What makes the JD-Xi so outstanding, is also its good value! Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to share your thoughts. Cheers, Ralph

      Seriously, we get together, talk a bit to get into the right mood and then we start jamming. We just connect with each other, and that’s how we jam. As teenagers we were listening to the early german electronic music pioneers. Perhaps that’s what is subconsciously influencing us…

    Great video and jam Ralph. Just picked up a JD-Xi last week. Midi comnected to old Mac pro tower and light ver of cubsse and reason running. Right now I just want to use as midi sound source in multi timbral mode. Having a tough time finding info out theee to do this. As I have 76 note controller connected to mac pro. Really have no desire to play on mini keys. Maybe this is the wrong keyboard to make into midi sound module? I hope I can make it happen. Any suggestions on mode of operation to do this?

    • @RalphBaumgartl
      @RalphBaumgartl  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Vic, many thanks for watching and listening. The JD-Xi is one of those Synths that I have never connected to a DAW or external keyboard. I am always playing it live. Have a nice day, Ralph

    • @digitaldividemusic
      @digitaldividemusic 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RalphBaumgartl Thanks for the response Ralph. You know, youre the second guy I spoke with that said the same thing. They just play on the JD-Xi and dont use with a DAW. As this replaced a microkorg, Im going to just have to figure it out. Such a powerrful little synth. No room on this particular desk for a full keyboard anyway. My trusty EX5 is just to the right of the recording desk so, I got my full size keys to use. Minimum, I do want to sync whatever I do i on JD-Xi to DAW. That will be my goal for now. Take care. Vic

    • @RalphBaumgartl
      @RalphBaumgartl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also find the JD-XI more appealing than the Microkorg. Syncing the JD-XI via Midi Clock shouldn’t be a problem at all. I have already synced it with my Korg Electribe and it worked nicely. Cheers, Ralph

    • @digitaldividemusic
      @digitaldividemusic 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RalphBaumgartl I got it sending and receiving midi note on/off. No issues there. Was hopeful I could use in a multitimbral fashion for the drums and synth engines through my DAW. Thats ultimately my goal. Powerful little synth that it is, i want to use all its sonic power in my creations.

    • @RalphBaumgartl
      @RalphBaumgartl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Vic, I have never sent Midi Notes to the JD-Xi. I have only synced it via Midi so far. Here’s the link to a playlist with Videos in which I was syncing the JD-Xi with a Korg Electribe.

    Hi Ralph, I've been going back and re-listening and enjoying (again) your work. I'm curious, I see you use the JD-Xi a lot. When I've played it at the store I have a hard time getting past the "feel" of the keys (I.E. size & plastic "feel") and so I don't play it for very long. So I guess my question is this, "What do you like about it or what attracts you to it?"

    • @RalphBaumgartl
      @RalphBaumgartl  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Adam, in my personal opinion the JD-Xi offers very good value. It's very versatile and offers a plethora of sonic options and features. Because of it's size it's very portable and easy to carry around. And all this comes at a relatively 'low' price. That's what attracts me to the JD-Xi :-) Many thanks for stopping by and watching my video. Greetings, Ralph

      Hello Christo, iPads are totally valid instruments for making music :-) Most important thing is that people are creative, and they should just use what they currently have at their disposal or what they can easily carry to a common jam session. Gear or the lack of gear should never be an excuse for postponing to make music. Thank you very much for watching. Have a nice Sunday! Cheers, Ralph
