When I read the title I thought he'd make a very thin deck, like when you had infinite with streamline. But then the madlad toked the card and I was frustrated at how is he going to pull of a win with no cards. Impressive indeed
I was hoping they _would_, considering these claim to be beating the heart with no cards. I dunno bout everyone else, but I saw two cards in the deck at the time the heart was defeated.
threebucks there is two deck of cards in the game you play with: your in play deck, which is the deck you have when you played every possible exhaust or removable cards like power, and is left with the remainder, those exhausted cards can no longer draw into. The 2nd deck is the deck most people refer to as the master deck, which is the deck you have, all the cards, everything. Most of the time, the master deck have more cards than in play, but this one, this one completed the no card in master deck.
@@threebucks They didn't claim to beat the heart with no cards, they claim to beat the heart with no cards *in their deck* (and im guessing since its impossible to have no cards to begin with that they meant they got rid of all cards in their deck by the final heart fight). StS often has very specific wording abt things, and *deck* refers to the permanent cards you carry with you from battle to battle, the ones shown if you click the stack of cards with a number on the top right of the screen.
I'm glad you like the concept! I will definitely look at adding commentary to some videos in the future, but it is a bit tricky for me to find a way to fill 30 minutes meaningfully, and when I do commentary, it adds several hours to the production time of the videos. I write out an outline of everything I plan to say, and generally need several takes to get a result I'm satisfied with. That's not to say I won't be doing more commentary in the future. I'm happy to hear that people would like to see more of it, and I would definitely also consider going back and adding commentary to some of my older videos.
The madlad does it AGAIN, but this time through much sneakier methods. Edit: I guess you could say your deck for the third floor was rather.... Streamline
The swift potion they held for both Act 3 boss fights and the entirety of Act 4, just to be used on a single card that wasn't even played: *Am I a joke to you?*
Sure, that's one way to look at it. But on the other hand, I styled on the Time Eater by wasting about 15 turns doing essentially nothing and letting them build up strength, and still won!
It's a glitch that used to occur with astrolabe and pandora's box, in certain situations, where the cards they transformed were instead removed from your deck.
@Oscar Torrandell No, any method of removing or transforming Ascender's Bane would be a glitch, as others have mentioned. Therefore, this run cannot be done glitchless. In fact, this was the only currently available method of removing Ascender's Bane that I could think of when I was planning the run.
according to @gaming time, "it's a glitch that used to occur with astrolabe and pandora's box, in certain situations, where the cards they transformed were instead removed from your deck."
I'm not sure how feasible that would be, due to the complexity of the game. Most neural network hobby games play games with only a few controls, afaik. It could probably be done but I think the amount of time put into it would probably not be great.
This seed didn't work for me. :/ A lot of it is the same, but there are some crucial differences. Namely, the location of Peace Pipe and Unceasing Top changed.
The standard things to check if you want to replicate a seed are: 1. Game version is the same (v1.0 (01-23-2019) PC, unmodded) 2. Unlocks are the same (everything unlocked) 3. The same actions are taken (there is some room here for doing different things, but you have to understand how the game handles RNG. Playing fights differently won't change relics) Usually, when someone can't replicate a seed, the problem is that they haven't unlocked all of the relics, and I think this might be the case for you as well. I promise that I don't mess with the seeds I play, though. Good luck!
Awwww. Saw thorns at the beginning and thought you'd actually done it. Unfortunately, while you _arrived at_ the fight with zero cards in your deck, you did not beat the fight with no cards in your deck.
The Minimalist achievement: "Beat the game with a 5 card deck or smaller." The Common Sense achievement: "Beat the game with a deck containing no uncommons or rares." I'm honestly trying not to be misleading in any way. I show exactly what to expect in the thumbnail, and use the same terminology that the game uses: your deck consists of the cards that you bring into fights. My deck has zero cards for the last 4 fights, and I beat the Heart with a deck that contains zero cards. I'm sorry I created false expectations for you.
Gets lucky and gets an early infinite. Then voluntarily throws away the free win. Then takes a card that allows for another infinite free win. Then throws it away again. Then gets a totally useless card to repeat infinitely, when infinite repeats are BAD. Then repeats this card infinitely, when it is BAD to do so. ... I mean, what even is this video? How to do shit the worst way possible and still manage to not lose?
Did you notice him entering the seed at the beginning of the video? It's a seeded run. He wanted to show that this is theoretically possible (going into the last four boss/elite fights with zero cards in the deck and still winning), not that it is a good idea to try normally.
yep, it's not a joke, StS has very specific wording on certain concepts, like for instance when the mark of the bloom says it prevents all healing, they mean ALL healing, ie anything that increases your current HP, including revives. For the term "deck," the game means the permanent cards you have that you carry between you on battle to battle. Temporary cards created by potions, Nilry's, dead branch, and maybe more sources are not part of your actual "deck" because they only exist for that specific combat. So basically them entering the heart battle with zero cards does validate their claim that they defeated the heart with no cards in their deck at the final fight

i can only imagine the defect fiddling around with an abacus while donu and deca stare in confusion
and then both of them just decide to leave

Very nice. A20, no Pandora Glitch even. Most impressive.
News flash: Roboguy with a book and an abacus defeats the entire spire in 20 minutes.

Hmm, that play on words seems rather hard to top.
@@ForgottenArbiter This particular comment thread certainly is thorny
Eh, it's impressive, but that's not _no cards in the deck_. Arrive at the fight with none, yes. Beat the heart with no cards in the deck, no.

I love the little pause when you got hello world in your first act 2 fight
Love the music on super fast forward

Do I care that much?
...nah.
Pretty much!

Something tells me this is not what the developers had in mind when they were creating a rougelike deck builder
rougelike [REDACTED] builder
Congrats on 1k!!
Thanks!
if i were the time eater id be so mad
Impressive stuff. I imagine there's a lot of work going into making this work.

Im confused about the end of act 2 when you go from 3 cards to 0 in your deck, am I dumb?

Perfect deck )
Astrolabe bug?
Yep, I use it to remove Ascender's Bane. I discuss the bug a little bit in the description of the video.
@@ForgottenArbiter Nice-nice, I see.
For a glitchless run... Can you transform Ascender's Bane, and then remove it?
Amazing stuff as always!
Oscar Torrandell Transforming Ascender’s Bane would be a glitch

Can someone explain how the Streamline became zero cost during act 3? Sorry, I'm not an expert on the game! Just curious.
whenever you play streamline its cost decreases by one
does the astrolabe glitch work on necronomicurse as well?
Why did astrolabe remove the claw and zap?

now do it in endless until the 4th blight
