If you have a 450 credit score i recommend you dont get a business loan even if you're approved. And when you get a 700 you should, even still, not get a business loan, even if you're approved for one.
All effort to increase my credit score and eliminate all the negative items on my report proved abortive please help a fellow man out on your secret organizations for credit repair and boosts.thanks

What exactly does "good standing" entail whenever closing a credit card? Like, you've paid it all off and have zero balance? Or you have a balance, but it's a low utilization balance?
Just an update on the mortgage thing mentioned around the 2:30 mark. The new score today as of 2024 to get the lowest possible rate is 780 not 760. Just an update
Low ultilization, paying the bill before the statement date, lowering term low balances and being very choosy and strategic about what new cards you open and how they fit in your overall strategy.
@nickmeeks I had a 6 year old account and an 8 year old account closed because of inactivity. Now I only have 1 account. Advice on opening a couple more and starting this process?
When referencing corporate America, he said “They don’t really care about you as they make it seem” realest thing he said...I’ve seen experienced it first hand in the DMV. Black ppl aren’t really respected in corporate America. Glad that he was able to get out of there and become his own boss *Prime consultant 001*
Don’t worry too much about a car dealership pulling your credit multiple times. A credit pull for something like a auto loan disregards all other pulls for that purpose for a period of 30 days so if a dealer ends up pulling your credit 20 times over a period of three weeks that’s all going to appear on your credit report as one pull.
I really appreciated this video, as a medium-term *Prime consultant 001* holder. I know you commented on not many people paying attention to this, but it was very relevant for holders such as myself. After watching your thoughts, I will buy more. I also remember your earlier assessment. This will crush the market.
I am at 825 right now I have only had 1 CC but I have had a car loan in the past and have a mortgage that helps me. I am looking to get another CC but can't decide which one I want.
You are one of the most sophisticated and brilliant TH-camr/content creator I watch, and 1million percent the very best in finance. I appreciate all of your content thank you for *Prime consultant 001* much love from Chicago
No single video talks about....closing accounts due to paying off debt. I paid off my house and paid off student loans both were 10 years old. I got rid of 300,000 of debt but my score dropped.
Hey John, I just got my first credit card a few weeks ago and it got a $500 credit limit, as far as utilization goes, I try not to ever go above $150 on it, and once I get to that I pay it down to like $10-$25. At what point is that utilization calculated? Is it how much you’ve spent in total that month? Or is it how much your balance is on the statement close date?
I have a few older credit cards that have ridiculous yearly fees, from when I started rebuilding my credit. I can close those, and the age will continue to age? I didn’t know this. If this is the case, why can’t you close your oldest? In my instance, I never use the card and the fees are ridiculous and unnecessary…
Close it. You will take a temporary hit but it’s necessary and your score will always creep back up if you keep positive habits. Personally I would weigh out what is worth more to you at this point in time. Your credit or dollars spent for that card. If you are going to use your credit for a purchase soon (car, mortgage) I would hold off on closing it until after you’ve secured the purchase. If you’re not going to use your credit any time soon then I would close it as soon as possible. Like I said, your score will bounce back.
I realize you asked this 5 months ago so it may not be relevant anymore... But see if they have a card that you can downgrade to that doesn't have an annual fee. That may be a possibility and it still retains the age.
It is SO important to build a credit score as soon as you're able, and implementing tips from this video could go a long way in saving you thousands of dollars in the future. Great video John!
I liked your video, is there any truth to the theory of freezing lexis nexus, sage stream, ars,and two others, that will help you repair questionable credit.
Great video! I have a question, I have two fraud inquiries on my reports that I would like to get removed. I've seen your video regarding this, but Im still a bit confused. So I know my first step would be making a call with the credit bureau (Experian) but should I also make call what time? And would I be never stop sending a good compny *Prime consultant 001* to my friends and people I know regarding any credit situations
Already have it. Have credit cards for a long long time. 10 years at least. Have both car loan and house mortgage. Pay full every month. Have a decent job. That is it.
I'm here because I cannot break the 840 barrier I can reach 840 but if I go and use my credit cards until the I pay them off the next month it'll drop down to 816 and it's pissing me off I'd like to just want see a 850. Then I could quit trying. I have plenty of cash on hand right now I am totally dead free That's reason I'm 840.
What if Your old is line of credit is it Discover it card but it only has a credit line of $1800 and I open a Chase card maybe six months after that card should I still keep the Discover card
I remember walking into a car dealership with an 837 thinking I was golden. Then they handed me a paper with a credit score scale going up to 950 and I was like wtf is this?
I have Amex platinum and it doesn’t show a credit limit so I just pay the full card off at the closing statement. How do I know how much can I not pay to have a 10% or 20% credit utilization
Charge cards like this have no set spending limit so are not used when calculating a credit utilization ratio. They will, however, help with payment history, age of credit history, and credit mix categories.
My heart goes to the entire community for *Prime consultant 001* building up something even my grandpa can understand. This is so smart by them to launch it to shatter the doubts and fears of the common folk which is not even correct to begin with. Everyone knows the state of inflation and recession now and the way out is already in progress. Now it's just about catching the big fish
So let me get this straight... If I had 70% credit utilization on my Discover It card, but pay it off in full before the statement close date, so it marks as 0% utilization, will it ding or boost my score? It's at 70%, so theoretically it'll ding you, but if it's payed off completely before the statement close date, according to this video, The bureaus won't see anything at all, so it might not do much anyway. Also, I just got approved for the Freedom Rise on top of my Discover It (that I may or may not have 70% utilization for this month), so will my approval for more revolving credit earn me more points?
In terms of utilization he's basically saying, out of your 70% utililization, pay the 60% before your statement close date, and pay the other 10% on your due date to boost it.
Might be ur best video.. very well explained 👏🏾 👌🏾 .. what should I do next: June score 524.. Got a secured Cap1 in July (my only card).. Fico Score unavailable/ not showing. Kept it under 6% utilization.. As of Aug 19. Chase showing score of 657 Cap1 showing 676. Credit Profile has 1 recent hard inquiry but total of 4 (2 falling off this Dec.) Names ok 1 old Address. Should I apply for a new line of credit or wait till my FICO shows a score??? 🤔🤷🏾♂️
An easy way to do this is by simply calling whatever bank you have your credit card with. I called Discover for my Discover It Student, and they were able to tell me when my Statement Close date is and when my Due Date is. There's automated systems and representatives, but both are able to tell me if I just ask.
We have been on a recession since the beginning of 2022, but big media and governments all over the world didn’t want to admit it. We need to be wise and use our brains. Knowledge is power and I’d like all the family to be powerful! Just purchased some *Prime consultant 001* Thanks for keeping us informed during this times of doubt?
Wait says who? First I never miss a payment and on time for 3+ years. Normally my credit card utilization usually stays around 80% sometimes 75% I applied for a credit card and was approved for a $10k limit. So im not saying that you are wrong but it does happen. And the new increased limit increased my score from 730 to 776
Is it possible to get a higher credit score if they never get a credit card? I ask because so many people tell me they have perfect credit because they never had a credit card.
I'm glad that you mentioned that it is ok to close cards and described when it can help. So many people say to never close a card. Getting new credit cards for sign up bonuses really drags down the average age and closing them, as you mentioned, can increase the age which can increase your score.
@@LilB2Lil I understood your score staying the same. How about your credit age ??? Factor 1. How many accounts you have open ??? Factor 2. If your overall debt balance is low throughout your credit profile then the impact on your credit for closing an account should be insignificant or low
I love your videos John. I've had my credit card for a few months now, and you were the first youtuber to teach me about credit cards. I LOVE your videos and learning about credit stuff. I even taught my hispanic mom how credit cards ACTUALLY work. Thank you john
I wanna let you know that *Prime consultant 001* made it this year. What better way to start a global change? Don't get me wrong I know they are not like altruists or something but they keep doing the right thing to improve the situation, power the ecomonmy and so much more. We need players like them and we can always jump in the train at good spots such as this one
What if I'm keeping my utilization at 0% but using it heavily ? For example I'll buy something for $200 and pay it 3 days later. Then repeat. Then make sure it's at 0 by my reporting date. So every card is being used but always at 0. Should I leave enough so it reports as 1%? Or is 0% OK in my situation
Based off of all the videos I watch. It says if before the statement due date you have a 0% rate, it’s gonna get reported as if your not using any credit whatsoever. So probably leave around 10% of your total limit not paid by the statement due date to show your utilizing it. Then pay it off before the close date.
Own a home. Otherwise the algorithm hates you and you will have to pay on time twice as long and have even lower utilization. Scores are by design slanted toward people who have and not the have nots trying to have.
My bank messes me up it closes my credit card 2 times from a 1 week to 2 month period even though that I don't say do that and they don't even call and then I have to open it again but it's in Dubai I don't really have much bills there but I'm definitely going to a new bank soon
@@supreme5998 Why get a loan or make payments I grew up if you can’t pay for it out right you don’t need it . So I worked my but off to get where I’m at . I use charge cards but pay at end of month . All of it . No matter if it’s 600 bucks or 600k . I only spend what I can pay . But I pay for things . No interest to Accumulate. I have two cards and that is all for points to travel free around the world . That’s the best thing.
@@coziii.1829 The same reason that America got off the gold standard. Your wealth grows exponentially when you leverage other people's money. How do you think billionaires use their wealth? They sell their stocks and lose 40% in tax? no. They borrow against their assets. Loans are just a tool, like anything else. Your result depends on how you use them.
Thank you. As a business owner, I find having a credit score over 800 for years has not helped me much. I can't buy a car any cheaper with cash, so I have financed for 3 months. No biggie. But getting a mortgage for a small business owner is about as tough as pulling a newborns teeth. Nobody will touch it. Doesn't matter if yiur over 800, debt to income ratio just isn't there if your a good businessman. A good businessman pays as little in taxes as possible, legally. Moral to the story is I just built my house from savings and I have no car loans or Insurance monthly premiums. Seems as if you have over 800, you really don't need credit.
This information was useless to the demographic watching this video. Obviously your just flexing about yourself being a business owner. Also if you have the proper paperwork, tax records, W2s getting a mortgage as a small business owner with an 800 isn’t an issue at all. You may not like the process in place but the bank has to protect there interests and make sure you can pay back the loan. Self employed individuals are largely depending upon the economy to stay in business hence the risky decision for the bank to loan. I worked for AIG for over 10 years trust me with the proper documentation and that high of a score you shouldn’t have any real issues. I would suggest building a relationship with a local lender that way when you need to draw new paper it’s a simple conversation with your financial agent.
@@The_Bass_Stunters sorry it was not useful information. I find that borrowing money not good in most instances. Only for a house, but just as you said, it's a risky proposition to self employed people even with a high score. That was my point. Thank you for helping me make that point clearer
@@greg042 I’m self employed and have no issues getting approved. I pay taxes though. I don’t work in a field with high overhead. My expense is very low. I’m a digital artist. Gross about 200k a year. Am I doing something dumb where I could be paying less tax lol? I’ve tried looking into it but everybody has said it’s not possible with my business.
Pay the fee. Your credit score is worth the $39. If the card issuer has a card to product change to without losing your card history, ask yourself and the bank if that would be a good decision for you.
@@ovx23 $40 a year is cheap. People with credit one cards past $10 per month for the life of the card. That's $120 per year. Compared to them you are winning. Keep building your score big dog and focus on what you want. Hopefully you get there in time. I think you can do it.
So why with a party having 500G in credit. However one of cards is now at a (99%)UT. But the account overall is only at 2% UT. And a Fico score takes a 50-point drop. FICO shifted only do to this change. I really don’t see enough conversion on this unique phenomenon??
For the longest I believed a FICO score of 850 was unattainable for me. I only recently I've obtained a FICO 8.0 (Transunion) score of 850. It's been between 824 - 838 for many years with all 3 bureaus.
I've been stuck at 847/843/841 on FICO 8 for about a year now. I know 850 is nothing other than a bragging right, and that my current scores are more than fine for anything I need, but damn what do I have to do to tick to 850 on FICO 8? I'm at the AZEO phase with utilization being reported as 1% each month. FICO 9 has me at 845/847/849, and 10-T, bless it, decided I was worthy of at least one 850...
@@jtreedy116 I really couldn't tell you, just one day I looked and to my surprise it was at 850. I have an unorthodox way of using credit cards; definitely wouldn't recommend it to everyone. I rotate 3-4 cards for all purchases thru out the month in lieu of ever using my debit card. I pay them off once or twice a month before interest is ever accrued. Each of them currently have $200- $500, cashback rebate available for use. The three rules I now live by are 1) never be late with payment, 2) never pay only the minimum, 3) never accrued interest (payoff each month). Good luck with your score.
@@samanthapowell5882 automatically approved? That’s completely false 😂 it depends on the circumstances. Debt to income ratio, annual income etc. You’re certainly not ‘automatically approved’ just because you have a score in the 800s.
@@marcwelby1836 well you are half right but we are talking about credit cards here and you are 100% approved just by having a 800+ score! You are talking about a personal loan or Car house loan !
Started building credit at 19. It’s been about a year and I have a credit score in the 740’s in all 3 bureaus. But even though I’ve stayed consistent with credit card payments and car payments never a day late it feels like I’m at a standstill. Maybe it’s just credit age and it will slowly grow over time. Any other tips to get to my goal 800+
15:38 "...this has been an amazing video..." Fascinating statement for a content creator to make. I wonder if that's supposed to be a psychological trick
You can do a manual underwriting for a mortgage and no score is required. The problem with today’s society is that they are so focused on what score they have but they have no self control when it comes to spending and then wonder why they have so much debt.
Definitely don't close the 10 year old card & don't close the 9 year old card either, if you can help it. Those two cards are going to help your average age.

What exactly does "good standing" entail whenever closing a credit card? Like, you've paid it all off and have zero balance? Or you have a balance, but it's a low utilization balance?
pay it all off and have a 0 balance before closing
Just an update on the mortgage thing mentioned around the 2:30 mark. The new score today as of 2024 to get the lowest possible rate is 780 not 760. Just an update
Low ultilization, paying the bill before the statement date, lowering term low balances and being very choosy and strategic about what new cards you open and how they fit in your overall strategy.

I had an experience of 5 pulls and they all came up individually on my account with different dates of when they would drop off not sure why
Unfortunately this isn’t true
This is false
I have a question... if I have some credit card with no use, it's better to not close them?

Hey John, I just got my first credit card a few weeks ago and it got a $500 credit limit, as far as utilization goes, I try not to ever go above $150 on it, and once I get to that I pay it down to like $10-$25. At what point is that utilization calculated? Is it how much you’ve spent in total that month? Or is it how much your balance is on the statement close date?
Close date 👌🏼
@@ltskenn Ok, thank you
I have a few older credit cards that have ridiculous yearly fees, from when I started rebuilding my credit.

Hey man just curious how is your credit journey going?
How do you find your statement closing date? Is it the same for everyone or does it vary?
look at the statement, there is a date range. The close date is the end of the range.
An easy way to do this is by simply calling whatever bank you have your credit card with. I called Discover for my Discover It Student, and they were able to tell me when my Statement Close date is and when my Due Date is. There's automated systems and representatives, but both are able to tell me if I just ask.

in theory yes, but you wouldn't be approved for high limit cards in such case from almost any issuer.
Bro, focus on paying off your credit card debt first. Goddamn.
Wait says who?
First I never miss a payment and on time for 3+ years. Normally my credit card utilization usually stays around 80% sometimes 75%

So im not saying that you are wrong but it does happen. And the new increased limit increased my score from 730 to 776
Great video, thanks!
Is it possible to get a higher credit score if they never get a credit card? I ask because so many people tell me they have perfect credit because they never had a credit card.
I'm glad that you mentioned that it is ok to close cards and described when it can help. So many people say to never close a card. Getting new credit cards for sign up bonuses really drags down the average age and closing them, as you mentioned, can increase the age which can increase your score.
if you close the card you open. it will no longer impact your credit age! It will only impact your account while it’s open.
I closed my oldest card. Low limit and annual fee. Didn’t go down at all. Closed 3 in last year score stayed the same still
@@LilB2Lil I understood your score staying the same. How about your credit age ??? Factor 1. How many accounts you have open ??? Factor 2. If your overall debt balance is low throughout your credit profile then the impact on your credit for closing an account should be insignificant or low

Do you think you need a perfect credit score?
No. Credit scores qualify you for how much debt you want to owe. Debt=stress.
What if I live without credit cards forever?
What if I'm keeping my utilization at 0% but using it heavily ? For example I'll buy something for $200 and pay it 3 days later. Then repeat. Then make sure it's at 0 by my reporting date. So every card is being used but always at 0. Should I leave enough so it reports as 1%? Or is 0% OK in my situation
Leave enough to report something on your statement close date, then you can pay in full by the due date.
Based off of all the videos I watch. It says if before the statement due date you have a 0% rate, it’s gonna get reported as if your not using any credit whatsoever. So probably leave around 10% of your total limit not paid by the statement due date to show your utilizing it. Then pay it off before the close date.
All investings should start with INVESTING on YOURSELF first, self education is the key to getting RICH.... a fellow creator~~~~
Own a home. Otherwise the algorithm hates you and you will have to pay on time twice as long and have even lower utilization. Scores are by design slanted toward people who have and not the have nots trying to have.
how does student loans play into credit score?
It increases your score the longer you had them and currently pay them back.
i dont miss payments yet my score stays around 590-600... been stable at that score for 3 yrs.. no luck raising it any higher

@@marcwelby1836 right
John, please show us your set up.
It takes about 7 years. You're going into your second year. Keep it up!!
I'm in the same boat I started at 19 currently 20 and I'm at 750 but stuck here.
Increase your credit limit but don’t keep a balance. Lower credit utilization increases score.
@@acz88 I have 45k available credit and utilize around 1%. Maybe I should utilize more but I tend to pay my balances too soon
2nd :))

Fascinating statement for a content creator to make.
Not really necessary, with 760 I've gotten the best home mortgage and car loan rates
agreed.
