As a part-time eBay reseller of a year now, i wholeheartedly recommend car boots, It does take some knowledge and some cheek googling and scanning items in front of people but you do get some treasures just this weekend picked up 2 cameras for £2 each and sold one for £75 2 days later
I have a reselling business and what's helped me is finding one or a couple of niches, such as vintage clothing, trainers etc and making that your priority so you can build the knowledge for what sells, how much to pay and what it will potentially sell for. I still dabble around with other stuff but this helps bring in most of my money.
This is exactly what I have started doing, am looking on just dealing with clothes and trainers. I found games and other stuff like that is just waste of time

Car boots/ garage sale are much better for deals and haggling as most people just looking rid. Gumtree/ marketplace can be good as well for stuff like bikes, furniture etc
I sell on ebay full time and can honestly say charity shops are a waste of time. 99% of the stuff you see on the shelves is already priced accordingly to ebay prices. And the best stuff goes on the ebay accounts of said charity shops. When you say you have listed something for 8.99 are you included postage? Dont forget ebay fees and packaging materials soon mount up which eats into profit margins.
@ZacJonesTH-cam carboots are good but you've got be there early and the competition is fierce. Facebook marketplace is also very good but again got be quick and look past the scam adverts. I've been doing it over 6 years now ( 1 year full time ) and it pays my mortgage and bills. It's definitely not a get rich quick scheme but if you do the research it will come eventually
I have to make you right. We are full time sellers on eBay and Amazon. We initially started our business buying second hand books from charity shops and done quite well. That was 15 years ago. However, charity shops, especially the well known ones could see the potential themselves and employed people who had a bit of savvy and knew the online market and set up their own eBay and Amazon selling accounts. To be fair, charity shops are there to return a profit for their causes but today, they are run as big businesses. I was once a delivery driver, quite often regularly delivering to the head office of Barnardos, based in Ilford, Essex. One could not imagine the amount of brand new BMWs, Mercedes, etc parked in their car park, not to mention the state of the art building itself. We have moved on with our business since them days but my tip is to search out hidden away little charity shops that exist in many towns and villages and are not a part of the high street giants if you choose to go the route of buying from charity shops to return a profit on line. Already had knowledge to be fair. I got 11 items currently up for sale and 10 more to list on eBay. Just brought a brand new coat today with tags saying £249 and I paid £15 for it lol. Another great week of buying now hopefully a great week of selling (weekends always my best days selling on eBay)

Think you are an extremely likeable person. I kinda wonder about this being morally right. I think any profit made from a charity shop item that was sold on should go back to the charity. It is not always about money unfortunately. Think the people donating to them would like to know their items sold went to charity and any profit made also went to them and not used as an extra income for someone who is already doing okay.
I get the perspective but I don’t necessarily agree and don’t think it’s morally wrong. Had I not made this video the charity shops wouldn’t have made the money and they’re getting free advertising too

I’m making over £200 a week from charity shops selling on eBay 🤷♂️ but some charity shops I avoid they price up to stupid prices no profit in it 😊
