It was nice of Squadron to give Andy a kit for us to look at. I have bought stuff from them, had no problems, received what I order in a timely manner. No hidden back orders. I will just say to any one looking to purchase a some kits, to shop around. Thanks you the review AHH
Squadron is good. But even with the 20% coupon they are not as cheap as scalehobbyist
Great reveiw on the Abrams M1A1,Andy. I thinking of getting one,and doing the Australian one. Beautiful detail.
You along with Genesis Models have the best reviews on TH-cam by far!!....
Thank you for the review! I think I read that this is basically a RC toy M1 that Trumpeter is selling as a static model kit.
Saw the video. Love it. I order the tank with the paint. it was 209.00 and with shipping 220.00 not bad. I have no Idea how you can put together so many videos. Great job.
I also have this kit and found several problems one being the track connector pins being very fragile and break to easily leaving you with junk unrepairable.
I hate to say I was very disappointed with this kit. I got the newer M1A2 SEP MBT 00927 and it is the same identical kit as Trumpeter's catalog 00926. Look at the sprues. The catalog number is stamped all over them. Just a different box and decals. I did attempt to build the kit though. Ended up screwing it up and it was uploaded to the round filing drum. I did purchase the Tamiya 1/16 kit because I want that massive tank. And I do enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work!
Andy that model looks amazing! I must have one.
I have it!... I have it!!... and lo and behold I have actually been working on it....
its cool how much you guys building these things know about history and tehnical details of actual vehicles
The ammo boxes are for 20mm, they were only there for storage.
How long and wide is this scale kidult!.?? 0:06
In fact, I asked about the length and width of this Kidult model, and the reason I asked that question was because I wanted to make a 1/16 scale model of an amphibious assault vehicle at least once, referring to this length and width! . 1:49
After some research I found out that these are still available from Squadron Hobbies in two different versions for $224 so I will be ordering one.
Now that is a build I would love to get into.
Well i know my Christmas present this year! Awesome looking kit!
Going to be fun to watch this one come together
Hi Andy,
I have only managed to get on to my computer, but saw this on TH-cam on my TV, and it sure is a best, I hope you get to build this soon. just one question on modelling, how long on average do you spend build each of your kits? What ever the answer I enjoy your builds very much, keep going strong. Les
Hi Andy i enjoy your videos keep up the good work. I have just received both models by trumpeter 1/16th scale abrams tanks OCT 2020 how much paint did you have to make up for each model's primary colour. Malcolm [Brisbane Australia]
Hi Andy , new subscriber here , great show & well done , I've been looking at the trumpeter M1A1 tank on this video , I see it has the Australian decals , if you do the Australian version might I suggest you take a look at what we have done to them here in Australia you can see them on you tube , believe me "mate" they look nothing like the box art, our boys believe in a great deal of camouflage , point being if you can't see it you can't hit it , to say our 60 Abrams are unique in the world is an understatement .
I would love a 1/16 modern tank with an interior! I'm still doing my takom king tiger kit and I can just imagine how awesome it would be in 1/16
A trick : watch series at Flixzone. I've been using it for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Nelson Matias yea, I have been using flixzone} for months myself =)
A 1/16 Panther with a full interior. Take my money!! Lol. Have built two of trumpeter's 1/16 kits. They are really nice kits.
hi andy can u please sus out who was going to do the upgrade barrel please? thanks heaps
I noticed on the decal sheet, the name Clayton Bigsby. I wonder if Trumpeter did their homework on that name.
I will want to buy this model soon, while you are building it at home
Those are Aussie markings! Please tell us you will do an Australian paint scheme
Andy thanks for another great video just like to say keep up the great work I try to watch all you post on your channel and by the way I love the high part count kits my self and I am going to try your pain technique on my next build
Hi Andy, first of all i love your videos....keep up the amazing work. Second of all im loving that M1A1 youve reviewed please do a review on the airfix king tiger as that was my first ever model i had made.
Can you please do a T-72. T-62 or T-55/54 in modern use?
Wow, that thing is huuuuuuge but who has room for these things??? Looks awesome though!
Looks like a lot of painful spur attachment points, that barrel would be a pain to get all those connection points cut from spur and rounded perfect
That kit is nice
Love this kit but Panther!! That I might need to buy!
I notice it evens got the marking for the Australian Army M1A1's
Hi Andy, does squadron have any idea what sort of date (or price) the new trumpeter 1/.350th baltimores will be released at?
I am hanging out BADLY for Tamiya JS2 static model release ion 1/16 with out all the electronics. Any Idea IF & When???
You should build Trumpeter kv 1s/85
Hy Andy. Trumpeter T-72B 1/16 review please. Thnx!
T72B is a good kit however it lacks the fuel & stowage bin lock down fixings on the inside of hull as well as wiring detail to lights & smoke launchers & like the M1A1 it needs the front movable fenders to be detailed with real wire! It is a very good kit but be warned the tracks are VERY stiff when assembled & require a good deal of sanding to make them flexible!
Hi andy. Can you make a video of academe's new Kv-2?
Where do I find this kit
A very interesting model
Andy what is the price difference between this and the Tamiya kits
Squadron has the Trumpeter kit for it for $210.00. For the Tamiya kit. Hobbylink Japan $355.00. $550.00 in two US On Line stores. As Andy said, tough to find the Tamiya kit. MSRP from Tamiya is $688.00. Happy Modeling TH
What 1:35 kit / brand do you recommend for a beginner? I like some challenge, but not that I have to drill small holes for example.
MNgaming try out the Merkava Mk 2 D from Academy it is a great and easy kit with a few challenging steps :)
WHEN YOU BUILD THIS ONE PLEASE TELL.
To bad this and the Tamiya are both of older versions of this would love to see one in the newer version.
Is it the same tank as the other one?
This is the correct model type if you want to build the Australian Defence Force vehicle
can u build the Dragon 1/35 MBT(KPZ)-70 plz? didnt see many people bought that one
Still working on it to this day... Truly.
Perfect grade m1 abrams
That looks amazing :o
Can you do a snap-tide kit some time
Jim Murphy what for?
I gotta say, the kit looks better than the Tamiya in some places like the lower hull, where there are no out of scale screw heads, or radii on the corners of the folded metal hull. But it is over simplified in other areas like the front mud guard retaining spring parts.
Those clear vision blocks would look awesome with some red holographic film on them to represent the anti lazer coating on them. Great vids you are making.
Their Panther G is going to be awesome. I'm in a facebook group dedicated to building that kit (when it comes out) and Trumpeter is really listening to people to make that kit as accurate as possible. Combine that with Takom and Meng's new Panther A's with interior coming out 2017 is truly the year of the Panther
Looks promising
Build It please!
does anyone know if there is an IS7 model kit?
Mike P I believe trumpeter made one.
As O.D. said In 1/35th scale yes. I do not believe one in 1/16 scale fro any kit maker. Hope I am wrong about that too. Mike P. go to a site called "ScaleMates" have a lot of info for kits manufactures on it. GL HF
Riff will check it out
Oberleutnant Dieter they did
Was excited until I saw the barrel and tracks. Cmon Andy do you really want to cut and clean 10 sprus of tracks? For $250 Trumpeter should have included a better solution!
Cool but to damn big for just a static model!
Andy love your videos and your work is amazing but what the hell is that clicking nose when you do still shots it's very annoying.
I bought the kit and I am very disappointed in it. I love all my Trumpeter 1/16 scale kits - except this one. I have the T34/76 1942, the MRAP M-ATV, the SU-100, and a T34/85 all in 1/16 scale, but this kit is the worst offering I have ever seen from Trumpeter in any scale. The driver's hatch molding is messed up (sunken down in the back and raised in the front). The NBC venting is indeed molded on both sides of the tank instead of just on the left side. I was able to cut it off and fix it with styrene, but it was a PITA. The front track skirts are molded very poorly with a huge 1/4" x 1/2" gap that must be filled. The front mud guard springs are molded even worse. The rubber skirts on the fenders have no fastener detail or line seperating them from the metal part of the fender. The turret basket is about 1/4" too long so it doesn't match up to the rest of the side bars on the turret. Had to cut about 1/4" off the basket length to get it to fit. There is a big open spot on the back of the tank below the engine access doors that is supposed to have a cover, but it is not included in the kit so there is just a big open hole. This is an M1A1. It had the older onboard generator so it should have the gas cap on the left rear of the tank. Trumpeter molded the access hatches on the back of the tank that hold the battery packs that are used on the M1A2 version of the tank *and* the filler cap for the generator. The tank should have one or the other and not both. In this case the M1A1 should not have the extra access hatches. It should only have the filler cap. The barrel is horrible. Had to put it on my lathe in order to get rid of all the molding lines. If you mount it the way they tell you to in the instructions, it will seat too far back into the mount causing a gap around the base of it. It will also be too short because it is basically being mounted in the position it would take during recoil after firing the main gun. Other than those MAJOR issues...the kit molding is quite detailed for an M1A1 version. It does have a pretty nice anti-slip texture molded into the surface of the tank although there are many place it should be but it isn't. I have been able to fix most of the problems, but the fixes aren't perfect. For a tank in 1/16 scale, you get more detail in a 1/35 scale tank. Way too many molded in details for a tank of this size. I would give this tank zero stars if you don't have the ability to fix the major problems with it. I'd give it a 2/5 now that I've mostly assembled it and fixed the major issues. Most of the issues can be fixed with some patience or hidden well enough not to matter, but for a tank of this price tag the mistakes in the moldings are deplorable. It does has more detail than the Heng Long 1/16 scale R/C tank I have. It's funny because the tank includes the SEP hood, but not the base for the SEP turret. It includes the photo etch mesh for the extended bustle, but not the bustle itself since it doesn't come with the extended bustle. Overall, I would not recommend the tank to anyone to purchase. The painting and marking guide above does include the mistakes I've mentioned. They are just hard to see in some cases. The instruction booklet also had the mistakes on it so they seem to be make from the CAD drawings used to make the molds.
I am disappointed in the fact that the matv has zero mechanical detail that their WW2 offers have and it gets buried behind the armour the matv would have been the easiest to display the engine can display an engine that is buried behind armour I wanted it so bad but the lack of detail turned me off of it
a very nice kit but way out of my price range
Интересная модель
Thats a lot of plastic there
It requires a LOT of modifications to make it accurate! The left hand side has been duplicated on both side instead of just on the left, Head lights should both be fitted the same as the right hand one & not opposite, The handles on the stowage bins on right hull side & on the turret are just blobs of plastic & not detailed old car door type and the conduit bolts on the turret are missing for smoke grenades and the wire spring rods for front movable fenders are badly represented for this scale! For this price & scale it is very poor detail in my opinion. Its fine if you want to play knock about wars with a RC tank but not for an accurate static display model!
Very bad 💩👎
RC is number 1
