Thank you for sharing honestly. Keep painting at your pace. Get the joy back.! Seek out exhibitions that you relate to. Be discerning. And join an artist guild in your area. Best of luck to you on your journey.

I invested too much too early in life too. It is the eagerness to get out there and make something of yourself that drives you to over invest. But in time it can be rectified❤ years ago I invested money in notecards and prints. I thought they would sell quickly. Well I sold quite a few, I still have not made my money back . And that is because I did not do enough testing of what images seem to attract people the most and start out with a small number rather than buying into a big number thinking you are saving a lot of money by buying in bulk when printing. Also, people always tell me I need to have an agent. Yes that could help but how to find one that really could do the work we would like them to do while we create, is very hard. And all of it costs more money than you think

I’m so glad I’m not the only one! I did the same thing with investing in too many prints and stickers right away. I’ve thought about finding an agent too, but I’m not sure I’m at that point quite yet… Thank you for watching my videos! It’s so good to relate to other artists ❤️

Great video. I love how honest you are about how tough it is to get started. I'm lucky in a way that I have a career and the art part is to help me make extra so that maybe I can retire earlier! Good advice about stopping worrying about what others think about your art. I'm finishing the mixed media portion and decided to stop the personal mentoring for now. I may go back to group mentoring in a month or so for portfolio and then just do the calls when I need to.

Thank you for watching! I’m starting to lean that way too. I work at a restaurant currently and am starting to view my art sales as a bonus income on top of that. I hope you are able to retire early from your art! That’ll be amazing! 💕

Aw Carly, as artists we all tie ourselves into knots worrying about what people will think of our art because we put so much of ourselves into the work. Developing a healthy sense of who we are as artists takes time, it's a school of hard knocks but the art world is tough and we need to be able to trust our instincts. I don't want you to struggle with this for decades like I did so I'm telling you what my best mentor told me a few years ago. He said that it was "none of my business" what other people thought about my art! I found this quite strange but also very liberating. Just keep doing what you love, keep your passion fuelled and keep learning and improving. Thank you for sharing your experience, it is valuable and very helpful. Find an artist community and exchange ideas with others, it's a tremendous help during the times when you feel that you can't paint.

Thank you for sharing this, I was in a similar situation on no.3 (bought huge mastering program, maxed out my credit cards, i was in debt for 2 years 😢). Now, thank God that things are falling into place. Praying for your success 🙌 🎉❤.

How long will it take to finish the course if you work 40 hours/week? I have an office job, I work full time, I am trying to figure out how long it will take me

I enjoyed Milan for the technical teachings but i could never buy into their marketing plan ...they dont really take into account for disability or mental illness ... Not everyone can commit to the timelines they suggest but that doesnt mean you can't be a happy and possibly successful artist.

People buy in part because of your story. Getting to know the real person. You're hiding your tattoo. Don't waste time catering to people that aren't your audience
