I haven't seen any other printer unboxings/setup videos but it looks like LulzBot put a hell of a lot of work into making it as easy as possible to set up. Nice work from them.
I like how they send you test print with you're specific printer. and it's actually a complicated print aswell so you know that you;re getting top quality!
I'm printing again now and it feels so friggin good to! They're teaching CAD skills in school now and with the emergence of 3d printers in homes it's gonna be a really nice skillset. It's great to be able to model and print whatever fits on your build plate
Damn YOU! I just spent $2500 not including shipping. ;) I love the work you do and seeing the other versions of the TAZ printers kicking out incredible prints I couldn't help myself. I think it was the little improvements that pushed my wallet over the top. Now I can proceed on my GladOS robot build. Keep up the great work.
LulzBot have the packaging and setup stuff nailed down. I've just got a Raise3D N2 which was a simple setup process too. Hopefully this will become the norm amongst other printer makers
Cool that they put the auto levelling sensors on a bigger printer. I kinda wish they would make a printer with the form factor of an Ultimaker or something to avoid dust falling on the metal rods and stuff as well as keeping everything warm around the print, not just the bed, which might help avoiding layer splits.
A very useful and informative video which makes me feel I should have a 3D printer even more than I did before! I'm also thinking of a LulzBot as you make many prints using yours and you rarely seem to have failures. I agree with the concept of printing from SD card as I imagine Windows is the weak link in the process, especially for longer prints. I'm not sure yet if the Mini would be best or possibly the Taz. Thanks for a great introduction to the Taz 6 and for all your fascinating videos which I watch avidly and not without some jealousy for your skill and enthusiasm when making your stunning creations.
I think it would be interesting to see comparison of those testing prints from various printers you have. If there are some noticeable differences in print quality.
Nice review. That is one solid machine, love the auto bed leveling auto nozzle clean. I don't like how the filament has to be loaded, think that is a bit fiddly.
Love how easy this 3D printer looks to set up and use. Any cheaper alternatives that are similar for people that dont want to speed $2500 for a small hobby i thinking at least 1000 and down that not much but is to some/alot of people.
+CitrusDruidxCDx Like James said get the mini but if you're like me and still want a bigger volume you can get cheaper taz 3,4, 5 models second hand. A company called ITW or ITWorks I think, just google them, they re sell refurbished models.
It looked to me like it was kind of wobbly when pressing buttons or any time you touched upper part of the X Carriage area. Does this effect printing at all? Do you need to add braces?
Thanks for this fine video, it has helped me with my new TAZ 6 printer. I especially like the great instructions that showed how to load gcode to the SD card and print exclusively from it. I dont know if you have made any other videos about giving more instructions about your 3D printing experiences but that might be very useful to noobs like me! Thanks again!
Maybe you could build an spider model witch is 3d printed and coltrolled witch arduinos. I personally would like to see a build of something like that. Sorry for the bad english i´m from Germany. ^^
+James Bruton (XRobots) If you're using multiple printers at the same time, you should do a video of the printers printing parts together side by side. That would look cool.
so, what exactly is your job, where do you get the money to buy all the stuff for your builds? Also, Im going to build my own iron man suit, any tips/ advice?
Did the roctopus lose a finger right at the end? It seemed to be there when the print finished. Regardless, thanks for the vid. Been a fan for a while now.
can happen - sometimes just a bit of filament is extruded as hot end heats up to print temp.. I usually watch as heating & pull off any excess with the tweezers just before reaches temp & starts - then prints clean (lulzbot mini) - even if you miss it, not usually an issue as the excess bit is just sitting on the pre-print outline
This looks really cool! Did you have to pay for it? Or did the company send it? If so how did you get Sponsorship from Lulzbot? Was it by 3D printing tons of things out like the hulkbuster, droids etc?
So for this new printer you are back to a single extruder head, how much does it cost for the double extruder head or can you use one of the printer heads that you have already?
Its really about the build volume, 285 mm is hard to accomplish with accuracy. How many build volumes in 3d printers do you see this big at this price and still produces nice clean prints......... none until the gmax
James are you one of those people that takes safety procedures to do things or just a person that just says f it and does it ( not stupid stuff thought )
+Mujtaba Ibrahim I know you are talking to James but personally I believe that it is good but the resin sheets are $100-$300. Well at least the ones I've seen
i just had to come out and say that on this wireless time you are wearing mic cable and it is distracting like no offence. it just feel weird to see it :D (i am not trying to dis you or anything i just had to say it loud. love your vids
3D printers are expensive, that's something you need to understand. Most also aren't beginner friendly. If you want a cheap 3D printer, then you can't get a good 3D printer. Really its probably not a great time to buy one, seeing as they're getting cheaper every year, and the technology is still evolving. If you think you can handle a less than user friendly 3D printer, and do things like level the bed yourself, your best bet is probably an older TAZ model, second hand if you can find one. If not, wait for the technology to get cheaper, or bleed yourself dry. If you buy a cheap 3D printer, you'll get a cheap 3D printer.
***** Yeah I was kidding I love my Taz 3, yes the PEI sheet is awesome.. so much better than PET tape!!!!! I haven't upgraded the hotend my current one works fine.
+Mr. COMEDY. find me a better value, better supported, better functioning printer for the same money and then you can say that. If you can't afford a new one there are companies that sell second hand lulzbots, like I-T-Works which are from the same city where lulzbots are made. PLUS it's entirely open source, so you could build one yourself if you want to save a bit of money. I bought a taz 3 second hand from itworks and it's been brilliant.
so worth it to have a printer that Just Works.. you honestly do get what you pay for with 3D printers. Buy cheap, and be prepared to spend A LOT of time pulling your hair out... and then money trying to improve the thing.. and then binning it all and buying a lulzbot.
That thing is HUGE!!! Can't wait to get mine!

Already seen a review but I'll have to watch this through to the end just because it's you. :)
***** Always interesting to watch! I've designed a folding printer and see some innovations I can include! Go Lulzbot!
LulzBot have the packaging and setup stuff nailed down. I've just got a Raise3D N2 which was a simple setup process too. Hopefully this will become the norm amongst other printer makers
OMG watching this TAZ6 contraption (both in complexity and size) comforts me in having chosen for an Ultimaker2 printer !
I bought a TAZ 5 because of you. I guess this means there's a 6 in my future. :)
Great video, thanks!
Cool that they put the auto levelling sensors on a bigger printer.

Nice unbox and demo. Seriously considering the Taz 6 but need somewhere to put it!
oh my goodness! i really really want that printer! it looks like it has a large printable area..... man, i'm gonna start saving up ASAP

These TAZ series machines look awesome, I can't wait until the price of the older models depreciate so that i can get one.
Nice review. That is one solid machine, love the auto bed leveling auto nozzle clean. I don't like how the filament has to be loaded, think that is a bit fiddly.
All I have to say is, WOW! Would love a 3d printer.
My computer science class in Highschool got one of these and im only 15 just installed a dual extruder
Buying one of these on Saturday at maker faire

It's not available in Australia yet. That is unless you want to spend an extra $2K
I assume a lot more parts will be created faster with another one of those which means more content in videos?
+James Bruton (XRobots) nice! must be a noisy print room haha.
+ant_oni_yoooo its such a nice noise though
+James Bruton (XRobots) If you're using multiple printers at the same time, you should do a video of the printers printing parts together side by side. That would look cool.

wow they just gave it to you? $2500.00 printer. Must be nice. I can't wait ti see Ultron finished
Since it's their printer they only "lose" the production costs.
And can you imagine how good this video/channel is for lulzbot in therms of promotion?
If for some reason something breaks on any of your printers, can you print replacement parts from another printer? That would be awesome.
Never mind you just answered my question in the video. Lol
Did the roctopus lose a finger right at the end? It seemed to be there when the print finished.
Regardless, thanks for the vid. Been a fan for a while now.
They need to make a larger bed and larger print size. Like the anycubic kobra 2 max. Larger rhan 420mm x 420mm x 500mm
good description about the printer thanks lots of good info not loads of media sizzle thanks
I need a new 3d printer and this one is the right size.
When stating the temperatures after the print, you kinda sounded like a commercial pilot
Looked like there was a big glob of filament when it first started to print the object?
can happen - sometimes just a bit of filament is extruded as hot end heats up to print temp.. I usually watch as heating & pull off any excess with the tweezers just before reaches temp & starts - then prints clean (lulzbot mini) - even if you miss it, not usually an issue as the excess bit is just sitting on the pre-print outline
hawe you checked that new Carbon m1 3d printer? its a lot faster. although cost a lot
I know want to see a ninja flex rocktipus to it can wobble around a bit
This looks really cool! Did you have to pay for it? Or did the company send it? If so how did you get Sponsorship from Lulzbot? Was it by 3D printing tons of things out like the hulkbuster, droids etc?
They sponsor his website and channel. Check out his website for details if you're interested.
so after having the printer for 5 months how does it perform?
what do you think about carbon's crazy oxygen/light resin printer thing?
+IVIegadude I just saw that ^-^ I wanted to know too
$40,000 a year to rent. Crazy cool technology though, prints are finished product quality.
+James Bruton (XRobots) Tested just did a nice video on it
Do you have any smooth or recommend 3D printer? I'm planing to buy a 3D printer.
So how many printers do you have/use now?
So for this new printer you are back to a single extruder head, how much does it cost for the double extruder head or can you use one of the printer heads that you have already?
even though the taz6 might be faster?
Box is damaged mate, don't accept it from the delivery guy ^^
If you receive another printer, you should do a giveaway for your viewers
Is this a paid product placement? Did they give you the machine and/or money for a favourable review or is it your own honest opinion?
what happened to your old 3D printer
Nice printer but seems rather pricey at $2500, when as $300 printer would give you the same finish, is it worth the extra $2200 ?
Please do tell the name of the $300 printer your talking about ???
Duplicator i3
could you share some pictures of your prints off the DI3
Its really about the build volume, 285 mm is hard to accomplish with accuracy.

none
until the gmax
Oh ok, you ask a question then answer for me.....
James are you one of those people that takes safety procedures to do things or just a person that just says f it and does it ( not stupid stuff thought )
James, what are your thoughts about the carbon resin printer?
+Mujtaba Ibrahim I know you are talking to James but personally I believe that it is good but the resin sheets are $100-$300. Well at least the ones I've seen
+Mujtaba Ibrahim overpriced closed source piece of shit. future of info is free, please don't support these old paradigm geezers
+Mechanicus I am not supporting aanything lol. It just seemed a little interesting.
+sturamic super yeah, I figured it would be more costly.
Hey James, what's the retail price of this printer?
+James Bruton (XRobots) Awesome thanks man
Love your videos. Hail hydra
i totally want one of these, bit man, 2500USD, thats like 2 times the price of my car...
That's one shitty car man
JakobCraft yep, it is, but it takes me from A to B...
Also awesome videos

rock on
I'll trade you the Taz 6 for my Taz 3 :D?
***** Yeah I was kidding I love my Taz 3, yes the PEI sheet is awesome.. so much better than PET tape!!!!! I haven't upgraded the hotend my current one works fine.
For your next video you should totally make an artificial intelligence
but gmax 1.5 bro ...
Lol you can literally get 10 cheep chines ones for the price of one LulzBot TAZ6
Do you think it's worth 5x-8x the price. Is it that much better?
Too expensive :(
how much is it?
+horashia $2.2K
Shit
+Mr. COMEDY. find me a better value, better supported, better functioning printer for the same money and then you can say that.

1st comment! :)
Did anyone else hear him moan at 8:00.
No offence but either you or lulzbot are milking this sponsorship
green arrow, lol
Are you kidding me. $2500!!! I could purchase 4 printers with as good or better specs for that much cash. There profit margins must be over the top...
