    To anyone who takes a right crank cover off, make sure the impeller is lined up properly before you tighten the bolts down. There's only two ways it will go in since its keyed. I didn't know this when I took apart my WR426 and ended up cracking the cover because I just kept tightening it and the impeller was in the wrong spot. Only $60 for a new cover but make sure to check that.

    Is it really important to drain the transmission before the coolant ?

    How do you get to the crank seal on a 2009 Honda CRF450r? Do you take the right engine case off and take out the clutch assembly to get to it or is it from the left side or what? I was wondering cuz my bikes oil level keeps getting to the point where it's overflowing with oil and my guess is that it is the crank seal being bad and allowing my transmission oil to leak into my engine oil. Please lemme know if you know, thanks!

    How do I remove the mechanical seal completely out of the crank case part?it seems to be stuck in there with possibly an adhesive maybe?am I suppose to just pry it out ?

    • @Ebrakes
      @Ebrakes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steven Ross if you've pulled the right side cover off just use a bearing or seal puller... Should pop right out... If you don't have that tool you can CAREFULLY use a hammer and a brass drift to punch it out.

    thought that i was burning oil for the last months, bike has 30+ hours on the new cylinder. every hour my bike lost 50ml of oil, runs great i just add oil till it hits the fill glass. i found a hole on the bottom of the block that was leaking. after doing some research i found out that it was called a weep hole. i hope that it will fix my issue and can ride my yz450 for another 30 hours or so

      go to cheap cycleparts.com look up your year and bike and the year and bike of the one you have the seals for. If the part numbers are the same then there is a 100% chance they will work. If not they most likely are different and not compatible. Hope that helps!

    good idea with bolt template. My coolant tank was completely empty, I filled up and appeared to be leaking from below Impeller - I will try some strategies from this video - so basically the drilled hole in impeller is the solution?

    • @Ebrakes
      @Ebrakes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Casey Pudwell the drilled hole in the impeller is an extra measure to help your seal last longer...the solution to getting your bike to stop leaking is actually replacing all the seals and bearings and the impeller shaft if needed. And I'm glad I can share the bolt template idea, it makes it so much easier!

      Had trouble removing right engine case because Kickstarter is stuck on shaft very tightly - i will purchase Steering Wheel Puller and try to remove
      But while struggling with it - a very small , perfectly spherical ball fell out of the crack - what do you reckon that goes to?
      I was thinking maybe it goes to my bearing which is so badly damaged, causing the coolant to completely leak out - also noticed there was no transmission oil to drain, must have leaked out with coolant?

    • @Ebrakes
      @Ebrakes  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Casey Pudwell wow! That thing must really be on there, most of them are tight, but usually you can shake them off eventually. That's a good idea with the steering wheel pulley though.

    • @caseypudwell9756
      @caseypudwell9756 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That small ball I mentioned previously does not appear to match the bearing I have ready to replace (on impellar shaft) - so my theory does not seem true - any idea what the ball goes to ?

    • @Ebrakes
      @Ebrakes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Casey Pudwell I totally missed that there was more to your earlier message, didn't hit the read more button, my bad! as for the ball, that's super weird. It fell out of the weep hole?! that would be super small. Best thing to do would be take everything apart and inspect the bearing. You'll know immediately if your bearing is bad. And yes, no tranny oil (as long as there doesn't appear to be any other leaks) can flow through the weep hole if the seals are bad.

    thanks so much that was a big relief my impeller was stripped so i had to do it with pliers, kids be careful and if you dont you wont be able to feel your thumbs like me lol

    • @Ebrakes
      @Ebrakes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem! Glad I could help. And stripped threads are the absolute worst haha... It sounds like you got everything off and figured out though so I'm happy to hear that.

      Actually thought I did but got cocky with it. Still havnt gotten it off and broke most of the fins its become hell. If you have any tips let me know thanks!

      even putting it into 1st and standing on brake still makes it turn I dont know why!!!

    • @Ebrakes
      @Ebrakes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      BLUESTRE is the right engine cover still on the bike? it would probably be easier with it off...and also you could just drill the center out...you'll probably mess the impeller shaft up but it's not that expensive and should most likely be replaced anyway. Let me know if that works or you need more ideas.

    Thanks for the video but you cost me an extra $45 !! your impeller was released by undoing the nut counter clockwise like a normal nut would be undone . After fruitless attempts and one stripped nut I ended up trying to release it by using a blunt screw driver against the vanes after breaking off 3 still no luck , so I used small grinder blade to cut away part of the impeller to see it I could get some CRC / WD40 onto the thread still no luck . Okay so I should have tried but I was following your instructions IT UNDOES CLOCKWISE not the way yours did mine is a CRF 250 but I am not sure why they would be different , and I watched that part to see if I was blind because I thought you may have used slight of hand Ha ha . Might be worth pointing that little bit out in the video if its possible as I had put the bike in gear had the brake locked on a swell just like you explained . Now waiting on local Honda dealer to get new one into stock , 6 Honda dealers here in Brisbane Australia and not one of the bastards have one in stock now waiting 5 days for new one to come in from the Honda distributors .

      first of all, I can't say I'm sorry enough... I just looked that up on the forums for a few minutes and you appear to be absolutely correct, it honestly never would've occurred to me that they would decide to put left hand threads on the 250's and right hand threads on the 450's...that is definitely bizarre to me! again really sorry about that! I'm glad I know now though, I will put an annotation in the video as soon as I can. I'll also have to look at the part numbers for the impellers, they must be different! have you tried ordering parts off eBay? quite often you can save considerable amounts of money via the internet.

      Its no big deal I did notice that there are upgraded complete kits online but time was of the essence as we are going for a two day weekend trip this weekend and I wanted to prevent a bigger problem as we noticed a small water trail out of the weep hole at last ride .I saved your link in case I decide to get an upgraded kit later as I would need to go the whole hog , all I wanted to do was the seals this time . Thanks for the reply .

    The crf and trx have two different engines. They look similar that’s it.
