  • Here's a method for finishing a V neck on woven fabrics which doesn't require any fancy gadgets & uses less fabric than facings.
There are many ways to do this, this is just one method & useful if you want to omit a centre seam in a pattern, such as the Ruffle Dress & Top by Dressy Patterns. This is day 72 of 100 days of sewing.
The pattern that I'm using here is a free pattern from Peppermint Magazine

Perfect timing! For 2 days I’ve been struggling and procrastinating with finishing a neckline with bias binding. I was about to give up when I saw your video. Thank you so much - I know I can do this now.

Having spent some 20 years as a quilter, I of course recognize that technique, but never thought to apply it to a neckline! Well done! Love it.....

Thanks so much, Sam! I saved this in my sewing playlist and it came in very handy today sewing bias binding to a v neck on a dress.

Your tips are always helpful and well explained. Thanks so much for your channel. I think the most important part is the mathematics used for the widths of the seam allowances and the width of the bias binding. Unless we keep that in mind, any binding will be hit and miss! 💜 ❤️ ♥️

After watching your method using elastic to gather a ruffle for a dress I thought I would give it a go. I have now made two dresses using this method with great success. Thanks for this tip. No more basting lines and drawing them through for me. 👍

This is spooky timing! I just made a v-neck caftan with a facing but it’s flopping out, of course. So I thought wait, let me make a binding! I’ll go and re-watch that bias binding video again, and here you are with this!

A wonderful tutorial. Thank you! Do you use this same method for round necklines and armholes?By this I mean, 1.5 in bias strips folded in half versus using the bias maker for single and double fold? 💗🌵🇺🇸
