Party Works is a work-based Enterprise located in the a-wing of Mercer High School this vocational training program focuses on work Readiness skills such as soft skills social skills and skills required to participate in supported employment opportunities students in this program have the opportunity to learn and participate in a variety of jobs throughout the school year within the Party Works classroom students learn how to use the El machine to fill orders for various seasonal shapes and bulletin board letters from prepping and cutting the paper finding the correct die cuts to inserting them into the machine students acquire and apply skills while at the same time building confidence students in party works also fill napkin orders using their napkin imprinting machine they prepare the order by counting and imprinting the napkins they may also sort them by color or size once the order is complete students deliver the napkins to their customer students are trained in assembly line type work which entails cutting and measuring matching gluing folding quality control and increasing work stamina tasks are modified based on student needs knowing that each student brings their own special skill set to this program other related skills focused on include organization counting using a calculator pricing items selling in the exchange of money and interacting with customers appropriately students learn to listen and follow directions follow supervisor directions and work on projects from start to finish the goal of the program is for students to become as independent as possible in the following areas following multi-step directions following a model to complete a project and working both independently and cooperatively with others for an extended period of time our students develop a sense of Pride and find success not only through their work experiences but by being part of a supportive nurturing environment
