The guy from the album art is their mascot Eddie, who's been featured on pretty much all of their albums and shows up in some music videos as well. You should check out their live concert videos, one of the few bands that make their live videos better than the album :)
Also for more about this particular album art, in the time between Number of the beast and this album, Eddie got a lobotomy. Hence the padded room, split skull and name "Piece of Mind."
The thing that made Coleridge 'fucking metal' at my high school. Prior to that, had one suggested they read a romantic gothic poet, one would have taken a beating for one's pains.
Iron Maiden has been my favorite band since I was a kid. You can't go wrong with The Number of the Beast, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, and Fear of the Dark
Welcome to the world of Maiden,, all of their lyrics are deep..you got to do Hallowed Be Thy Name...Rime of the Ancient Mariner ( both lyrics) and The Clansman live from Rock in Rio
HI GUY! Iron Maiden Rule! I suggest you "Hallowed be Thy Name" for next Iron Maiden reaction! Greetings from Italy ! (but many many Iron Maiden songs are GREAT and AMAZING, you need so much time...)
You dig Iron Maiden; I subscribe. It's quite simple. Hallowed be thy name, Run to the Hills, The Trooper, Powerslave, Wasted Years,....just too many to name.
Glad you enjoyed, welcome to the family Iron maiden is one of the worlds premier bands, been a fan since 91 and im going to see them for the 17th time this july, on my sons 21st birthday.
Next Maiden song you should do is Hallowed be Thy Name. Also... The Trooper, Blood Brothers, Phantom of the Opera, Rime of the Ancient Mariner (Flight 666), To Tame a Land, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Mother Russia, Clansman (Rock in Rio 2001), Fear of the Dark
Maiden have a decades-long year career full of classics. They are coming to the states for another tour in the summer. I saw this tour in England last year and it is BRILLIANT. I would suggest doing a live video. Rime of the Ancient Mariner from the Flight 666 film :D
If you like IM, Run to the Hills video is a good one. th-cam.com/video/86URGgqONvA/w-d-xo.html The cover art is their mascot, Eddie. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_(mascot) Originally a papier-mâché mask used in Iron Maiden's stage backdrop, the band transferred the name "Eddie" from the mask to an illustration by Derek Riggs, which was used as the band's debut album cover. Although he is occasionally described as "zombie-like" in the press, Eddie assumes a different guise relating to the themes of individual albums and their corresponding world tours, and has appeared as a cyborg, an Egyptian mummy and a lobotomised mental patient amongst others.
The cover is a picture of "Eddie", a mascot of sorts that they developed from early on in their career that took off and even became part of their stage show. He's always evolving.
Love this one, there are so many greats and sure you're inundated with suggestions. I just wanted to say, I was so happy to see this pop up on my page. Awesome reaction and glad you liked it, I do recommend a live performance because even now at 60 (drummer 65) they have more energy than bands half their age! An Iron Maiden performance is seriously entertaining. So I recommend one of the suggestions from Rock in Rio 2001 -it was an epic gig. I wore it out on VHS way back! And Happy Birthday month Billy, thanks for all the fun -Owen
Revelations is my favorite Iron Maiden song. Thanks for doing a reaction video! Hallowed Be Thy Name is definitely widely considered their best song and is a great choice for another reaction video
Dude the figure on the cover is Eddie! The band's mascot - he's on every album, single, dvd cover. Originaly he was just a head mounted behind the drummer during live shows and was known as "Eddie The Head."
Hey Billy really love your show. I really enjoy watching you react to new songs it seems like your feelings are real and pure. Another good song by Iron Maiden to listen to probably one of their best and they have a huge catalog of awesome songs would be the cross. Another couple of good songs to listen to by Iron Maiden also would be Hallowed be thy name and the trooper and 5 Minutes to Midnight are just a few examples of awesome songs by Iron Maiden. Thank you for this reaction Keep On Keepin On
Oh yeah, and they don't ever seem to take videos down/copyright strike. Their official website commented on a reaction channel that I saw, just being fun and silly! You can use, anything it seems. Their site has official videos and stuff. Neither they nor the company seem to strike -they put out a whole live show from a couple years ago immediately for free on here and stuff. Really cool guys.
Yes awesome reaction dude! Now you know you have to check out pretty much every song they've made he?😂 They are the band that started my love for music...
I am a lifelong Iron Maiden fan. Here are their best songs- especially for reaction: Hallowed Be Thy Name, 22 Acacia Avenue, Run to the Hills, Children of the Damned, the Trooper, 2 Minutes to Midnight, Aces High, Wasted Years.
Billy you gotta listening to the Queensryche album Operation: Mindcrime. It’s a concept album that tells a story from the 1st song to the last. I think you’d be perfect to react to it because it does require some intellect to be able to follow the thread
the dude on the cover is Edd, he's Iron Maiden's mascot / Logo / Signature, he is on every Iron Maiden Recording / album, always in different guises ...
The skeleton guy that you see on that album cover is named Eddie! It was basically Iron Maiden's "mascot". Eddie is on most of their album covers. Eddie RULES!!!!
Mr. SoCrazy, meet Eddie The Head. He started out as a creepy disembodied head that barfed fake blood on the drummer when Maiden were on their first tours and was adapted into the sneering rage zombie we all know and love. For another Maiden classic, might I recommend Aces High? That doesn't get you pumped, check yourself for a pulse.
To be honest.. it is nearly impossible to find a bad Iron Maiden song. Two albums in the 90's had a different singer named Blaze Bayley.. I believe he was their third singer.. was not really a good fit for the band.. and even tho the songs to me at least.. do not stand up to the rest of their catalog.. they are not 'bad' songs in and of themselves. The vocalist on this album.. Bruce Dickinson.. is almost universally considered the be the voice of Iron Maiden. Not taking anything away from Paul Di'Anno.. the vocalist on the first two albums.. very talented and considered by some (a small minority of fans) to be the better vocalist. I'd suggest the following songs by vocalist: Paul Di'Anno - Purgatory - Phantom of the Opera Bruce Dickinson - Caught Somewhere in Time - Dance of Death Blaze Bayley - Futureal - Lord of the Flies This will give you a good idea of the three separate vocalist's styles... but is by no means a listing of 'best songs'.. because such a list is near impossible to make. Peace
Iron Maiden changed members a lot in their early years and the band tried to figure out what they were all about. Bruce then became the lead singer and he's universally understood as the voice of Iron Maiden. Then he had to leave and Blaze filled in and I'm in the party that just doesn't like Blaze with Iron Maiden. Just sounds wrong. Then Bruce was back and its been awesome since. Paul Day was their first singer but was only around for a year. Di'Anno was also only around for like 3 years.
@@DarkKnightofHeaven Yeah I was pretty sure they had a vocalist before Di'Anno but I am not versed in their history at least not that far back. Don't get me wrong about Blaze.. had he been in Maiden after Di'Anno left.. I would have considered Bruce's voice to be a wrong fit for Maiden, as Blaze would have been the voice I had come to expect. Peace
Oh yeah thats one of the things of heavy metal my dude, its a rollercoaster of emotions. Thats why most metalheads hide a golden hearth behind a hard carcass I can tell you from experience. They touch the feelings but they dont wanna feel weak, you know, most metalhead I knew are waaaaaay more nice than regular people in other clubs. I live in spain so I don know how it works for other countries but here? Metalheads can be really tough but if you feel them and they feel you theyre the sweetest creatures I swear.
Fear of the Dark Live is amazing, you should check it out. The creepy zombie dude is Iron Maiden's mascot, Eddie. They use him so they don't have to put themselves on their albums. He appears in a ton of different ways on all of their albums as well as a t their live shows.
So many good songs throughout their career, through different singers. I would recommend: Hallowed be Thy Name Aces High Caught Somewhere in Time Seventh Son of a Seventh Son Fear of the Dark (Live in Rio) Sign of the Cross Paschendale The Longest Day When the Wild Wind Blows Book of Souls That should be a good starting group of songs
Nice reaction, loads more maiden please! Fear of the Dark from Rock in Rio 2001 is worth watching, don't worry about the lyrics too much, it's the story of a bloke who's, well, scared of the dark!
Some more Maiden songs to hit next... Aces High, Hallowed Be Thy Name(live version), Somewhere in Time, Fear of the Dark (the live version from Rio, if possible), Wasted Years, The Trooper.
Fear of the dark, hallowed be thy name, The Trooper. Rime of the Ancient Mariner, brave new world, Killers, Prowler, 7th son of a 7th son, wasted years...
Saw Iron Maiden when I was a teenager, got by security and on stage, got so hyped and knew it'd be sbort-lived I yanked my shirt off and threw it in the croud, as I was manhandled offstage I thought "damn, I just gave $14 for that shirt ! I'm an idiot"
You are looking at Eddie the Ed the mascot for Iron Maiden he's apart of every piece of Maiden artwork, from Ed Force one, the bands plane to their stage show, even had his own video game. Respect Eddie he's old than you are, lol. This cover is after he was lobotomized after Number the Beast. The artwork collection is pretty impressive often with lot's of Maiden easter eggs embedded, the one for Somewhere in Time might have the most of all. Get use to the timing changes, it's a signature feature of Maiden of songs, only group that might lean into more is Rush. Also check out Fear of the Dark from Rio, 250,000 people singing with band through the whole song.
The awesome guitar solos are a combination of Adrian Smith and Dave Murray. They will trade leads back and forth between them while the other plays the rhythm part. If you really know Maiden well you can hear the difference in guitar tones and know when either Adrian or Dave is playing the lead part.
How do we choose which Iron Maiden song for you to react to next? I personally think you can’t go past Hallowed Be Thy Name, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, The Trooper, Two Minutes to Midnight, Aces High, Children of the Damned....and these are just a drop in the ocean.

Hallowed be thy name .. you’ll love it. So so many amazing songs by these guys...Incredible band.
people keep saying metallica and megadeth are the kings of transition, welcome to the band that influenced them
and Deep Purple introduced it to Maiden
iron maiden - rime of the ancient mariner
The live version
The thing that made Coleridge 'fucking metal' at my high school. Prior to that, had one suggested they read a romantic gothic poet, one would have taken a beating for one's pains.
Flight 666 version !
"Rime of the Ancient Mariner" is NOT a "song". It's a fucking EVENT.
Yeeeeees
Iron Maiden has been my favorite band since I was a kid. You can't go wrong with The Number of the Beast, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, and Fear of the Dark
Maiden is metal so many songs to choose from. Hallowed be thy name, Flight of Icarus, Fear of dark ...
Aces high, 2 minutes to midnight, pashendael, dance of death, wasted years...
Yeah, you could listen to Maiden for like 3 days straight and never repeat a track :)
BTW , on the cover art, that’s Eddie in a padded cell.
surfitlive my bad, it’s fixed, I actually thought about that when I was half asleep last night but I thought “ no, I think I spelled it right “ lol
Great reaction ! Iron Maiden is one of the legendary greats. "Run To The Hills".🔥🔥👍🏼

Iron Maiden Powerslave ... You'll thank me.....
For another Iron Maiden reaction i highly recomend "Sign of the cross" live from rock in rio. A great stage performance.
The opening lines are from a poem by GK Chesterton!
Is metal a tribute to Iron Maiden?

Great reaction! Yeah, that's the band's mascot "Eddie" on the cover. He is on all of their covers and artwork. He takes on many, many forms.
The zombie is Eddie. He’s maidens mascot. He is on every maiden cover.

Iron Maiden - Wasted Years.
