after many hours and days i suceeded at a depth of 5.5 metres of sand only. hats off to you at over three times my effort. once started i was determined to complete it no matter what .the missus was about to leave me for spending all my time on it. i was then nicknamed the (bore whore) by friends . that was 10 year ago and is still operational today

hey man, great video! how did you keep going after you hit water? i have been drilling a well with a hand auger and i have already hit water, it became impossible to keep going so i am wondering how to proceed.

watch my second video th-cam.com/video/UYcrv9wWuAo/w-d-xo.html Essentially you run a slotted PVC pipe connected to surface with standard pipe to the bottom, then use a sucker type pump to take the wet sand out and the slotted liner slowly feeds into the hole by gravity at the same time. It keeps the rest of the hole collapsing in. My sucker pump was made from a piece of copper pipe with a massage ball (Kmart few $) connected to surface by rope. You need it to be heavy so it doesn't float. The ball acts as a valve that lets the wet sand past in upwards direction but doesn't let it fall out. There are other approaches to make the valve out of rubber sheet etc but mine worked fine. Got about 4m in and hour then it all hung up on something but was enough. System still working as of today no issue.

I gave up at 4 meters as ground was hard. I plan on building something besides the homemade auger.

Super interesting video! Can you say why the air lift failed?

I'm pretty sure airlift failed due to lack of air volume. Needed much larger compressor/accumulator and supply line...since was trying to do this on the cheap didn't bother trying to source bigger gear. Have used technique successfully on small scale in Aquariums and large scale on proper rigs so it does work.

That is impressive,. What can you do next to beat that?

Just make sure you seal the top real good or you will contaminate your well from the top. 👍

@@Vishnu_Atlas you just don’t want any rainwater running down your hole, it takes with it any contaminates on the surface

As a local water bore driller in Perth I would have done sludging method if you only got sand the whole way mate. Hope she’s still going after these years
