    It's really cool to see our series (Decision) here! We're currently fixing the Stamina issues, and our AI as well. It'll be rolling out as soon as we can, and it's looking pretty good! :)
    One thing is that our game is also available on GOG! Trolls were actually in our original game as well.
    EDIT: For anyone out there, we're two updates deep now and we're planning for more content! I hope we get to do it. All big issues from fans have now been fixed!

    I have three others to mention:
    Zombotron got a new entry released on Steam a while back, with all sorts of improvements to the formula.
    My Friend Pedro was quite prominent a while back, so prominent, and so different from the original Flash game that most players didn't know it came from Flash.
    Strike Force Heroes Remastered has been announced for steam, and not only revamps the visuals, but improves on the gameplay of the flash games and will have a multiplayer mode.

      I did a Zombotron video back in the day. And I am working to revise that one. I've already conducted that interview. So that'll be a fun one to share!

    AWW Was where I spent almost all of my flash game life, along with Drakojan Skies which I'm super sad just feel off the face of the Earth seemingly without warning...AWW Rearmed on Steam was a blast to play, and still a guilty pleasure for me to go back through every so often.

    @MarkGreipr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    Love the homage and promotion. Glad to see that there’s a Decision with sustenance taken into account. Loved Decision: Medieval the most among the series even tho I loved the others too.
    I just wished you featured more of the first Madness Project Nexus as much as how you featured the others. You haven’t went into much specifics, such as arena mode that could be good for casual playing for its replayability (imo), the tac bar, using barrels as cover, deflecting bullets to take out enemies and the mechanic where you have to damage the helmets of the giants with fists or melee weapons iirc. All of that could have promoted the game better if the watcher isn’t convinced yet with what you have shown. All in all tho I’m still glad that there’s more love for Flash games up to this day. Keep ‘em coming!

    • @2leftthumbs
      @2leftthumbs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Fair! I probably should have spent less time talking about the Madness universe, and instead talked about the mechanics specific to the MPN Classic, seeing as the full release does make use of so many of the specific features the Flash game introduced. In hindsight, it seems like an obvious flaw in how I approached that one. Good feedback!!

    • @nekuchan900
      @nekuchan900 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      god the HOURS i spent on arena mod in the original project nexus. The game starts to chug when you reach the really late endgame with a full party wielding miniguns lol

    • @MarkGreipr
      @MarkGreipr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Couldn’t reach that far ‘coz the lag’s killing me when there’s several G03LMs and A.T.P. Soldats tumbling around on top of deflecting the bullet rain. A chain of critical shots gets me everytime which I could have dodged if not for the lag lol. I think there’s a lot of similar reviews (some were outright rants) on NG about that. Game’s got flaws but it’s well made and enjoyable. Such a grand classic.

  • @OperatorMax1993
    @OperatorMax1993 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    it makes me so happy to see the people who created those flash games we played in our childhoods and still play to this day are alive and well, plus ready to make another masterpiece, like with Strike Force Heroes and Epic Battle Fantasy having another title (don't see those in this video), and thank you for this video, it certainly brings in the good news that i like to hear
    also, i really loved playing the Ray games, making me see all the outcomes of every choice
    now one of my first complaints is Repella Fella is the setting, the post apocalyptic setting feels off with me, in Ray 1 and 2 and the 3 teaser, it had that 1980s GTA Vice City along with Ray 3's early 1990s Gulf War aesthetic, which felt special and unique, i don't know if the spiritual successor is gonna have that but that won't mean i won't get his spiritual successor, anyways thank you for telling me what happened to Ray 3, it's sucks so bad to hear that all the progress was gone, as a kid i always kept waiting and checking PhillJC's page for Ray Part 3 every time and i never even knew what happened to PhillJC
    oh yeah, and i certainly am hyped for all the other games being made by FlyAnvil (used to play their games so darn much, though the bug enemies always scared me as a kid in Insectonator), SoulGame (also liked his games as well) BoMToons, and the almighty Krinkels (even though my edgy phase is long gone and i have sort of been...avoiding Madness Combat, i still love him and what he's done, and yes i know that he made anthro art, aka furry art...)

    • @2leftthumbs
      @2leftthumbs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      My understanding is Phill went post-apocalyptic, because he wanted a setting where *anything* was fair game. Future tech, zombies, anachronistic medieval villages. Rather than sticking to a specific, more grounded setting, he's blowing the lid off to make things as wild and weird as possible :)

    • @OperatorMax1993
      @OperatorMax1993 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@2leftthumbs ah, now i understand, and maybe we will see a reference to Ray part 1 and 2 (like going to a city and seeing a guy in a Hawaiian shirt ;), but yeah i don't actually hate the post apocalyptic setting, and i like those ideas and everything i saw in the trailer
      and i wish Phill best of luck with his spiritual successor

      I first had 10 pick out, but as I started scripting things, it was becoming too long too fast for that many!
      Ray was chosen for selfish reasons.
      Madness was chosen to give it a little nod before my BIG video on it.
      Decision was decided because it had a release this week.
      From there I wanted to pick games/series that I already felt comfortable with as I was sort of in a crunch to get this video out on time. I debated between a few others. But Chibi Knight and Swords and Souls were games I knew enough about to not need to dig up much additional research/info.

    Castle Cat was pretty simple but was really fun in my opinion, I heard they're actually making Castle Cat 5 but in HTML now. Castle Cat 4 was a bit too much of a change, and it seems they got back to the original classic style 2 and 3 had. (1 was more like a demo really, 2 and 3 adding attacks such as the cannon and mace throw. 3 even added a leopard skin, so I guess that's one of the earliest example for skins in video games lol.) Maybe you can make an entire video about the Mausland games, all of them are pretty wacky and creative. For example Castle cat, Miami shark, Aggressive alpine skiing, Honey bunny, Go go plant, Franks Adventure (which was a mature game so beware), etc. etc.

    FnF is the reason i came back to madness! i remember seeing the animations when i was really young, although I eventually forgot about them, going on to watch whatever the hell had my interest at the time, and I had forgotten about madness combat for quite a few years. Come the release of the tricky mod, I just *knew* something was familiar about that name, and lo and behold, here I am one of the many people who raved on about the new nexus, buying it day one, making countless grunt ocs, my own little universes and so on. Yes, there are a lot of young people in the fandom now due to said surge from the fnf mod, but so what? Let them enjoy it. I am extremely thankful for the mod as otherwise i probably would've had that lingering thought in the back of my head until nexus was finally announced! Here's to 20 years of madness!

    This brings great nostalgia, I am not sure how much this game was popular, but a turn based strategy flash game called Renegades was continued and now in steam we got Recon Control. Now we might even have continuation of Strike force heroes which was great. Also great video.

    One flash game I would like to see on this series is Phoenotopia. It was well received when launched back in 2014, which originally prompted the developers to make a sequel before pivoting to a remake instead. The lead dev even has a blog you can visit if you want to look at the development process behind the original title and it's remake.

    Another flash game that got a suite as a Steam game is Lakeview Cabin, which has started on Kongregate and Newground in 2013, then got a new game in 2015 on Steam, Lakeview Cabin Collection, another game in 2019, Lakeview Valley, and yet another game in 2020, Lakeview Cabin 2, which is still in the making.
    It's quite unknown, yet the dev is really perfectionist about his games, with small details sprinkled throughout every game, a pretty good/cryptic lore, and a really clever game design. It's objectively really good, subjectively it's my favorite franchise, I recommend anyone who wanna check it out to, well, check it out!
    Anyway, yall have a nice day!

    One classic flash game to me I haven't seen mentioned yet is the HeliAttack series, particularly HeliAttack 2 for me. Though now that I'm doing some quick googling it may have been hosted on Miniclip rather than Newgrounds, so it might quite be in your wheelhouse. Also, whatever that fox platforming game you had in the beginning gave me some serious flashbacks, as that was one of the first front page games I every tried just on a whim.

    • @2leftthumbs
      @2leftthumbs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      1:05 has HeliAttack 3. That's the only one I really remember playing. But it was excellent!
      And the fox one is from a pair of games, William and Sly.

    • @RocketSlug
      @RocketSlug 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@2leftthumbs Perfect! Yeah I think it was William and Sly 2 that I played. And since I only ever played HeliAttack 2, I didn't recognize the brief shot of 3. Thanks!

    The passion from the developers in the Flash days was strong. Big AAA studios invest in a lot of manpower to come out with great (usually) titles. Small indie studios might have a 5 man or even 1 man team working on a product. The guy might be not pay himself until he gets sales, and if the game is a flop the business is over. Nothing is wrong with doing something for a living and it's great if people enjoy your work. But most of these Flash games? They were usually created by people with some hobby. Most of them never expected to sell anything, they just wanted to share their talent with the world. It's true some of these were repetitive, but I'll always have nostalgia for the Flash era.

    There's a Flash series I've been trying to refind. The first is one of those top down center of the screen zombie base defense games and I quite vividly remember the intro cutscene for one of the sequels having characters say something like "surrounded by zombies you had to fend off? That sound like a game!" then laugh. I remember that because the car then crashes and it's a there's an open world to explore this time. It's kinda really bugging me.
