@@flawedpeacock Yea! I love making those docs, and I can't wait to make one for Panda Circus when it comes out. Also looking forward to your video about Inscryption's main ARG and timeline!
Hey Jeck, sorry to bother you, hopefully you catch this. I'm totally stumped. I notice on your write up that you have reason to believe that the Russian, the first person who logs in the deciphered ARG logs is Louis Nathas. I was wondering if you remember why? Process of Elimination? Four data loggers, four death cards? Its been a while so if you don't remember its totally fine.@@jeck0_0.
@flawpeacock yep i think it was something people theorized back then, and I thought might have made sense. Looking back, I don't think Luis would talk like that, so I might just remove that. Also, re-reading the Log, I'm not sure the last part is translated correctly. Try double checking 1b when you have time. I'll check and fix it once I have a moment.
Oh shoot! yeah I gotcha, I made note of a possible different translation its "I failed to break this encryption. I shouldn't even, but what can I do to kill the f****** time?"@@jeck0_0.
I always get a little teary at the final game with Leshy. "Please, let us continue. We don't need to keep score." He's knows he's moments away from annihilation, but he doesn't care. He just wants to play a few more rounds. Winning, losing, scores; none of it matters to him. None of it ever did. He plays the game because he truly loves it. All he ever cared about was sharing it with you, the player, and in his final moments, that's still all he wants to do. Just a few more rounds.
I didn't read it as Leshy not caring. I read it as him using the game he enjoys as a source of comfort as his impending doom nears. Something bittersweet as we both cling to good memories and fun times until the very end.
To be fair I cried because I also chose Leshy as my scribe that I wanted to replace and he said he was surprised that I picked him. He truly wanted to drag out a moment of enjoyment for himself for eternity at the expense of the player and other scribes.
my husband and I both cried when Leshy was deleted, there was something so moving about how at the end of Act I you hate Leshy, but by the time he's telling you "you made a good deck, this was a really good card, good job with all of this, and most importantly- good game" in Act III you miss the simplicity of Act I and it feels like he genuinely loved those last few rounds.
@Bubba818 it may have been at the expense of the other scribes, but it was never at the expense of the player, we CHOSE to play leshy's game and all he wanted to do was just show it to us, he's like a child who simply doesn't understand that what he wants sometimes hurts others.
It would also explain why Luke bothered to open the door at all. I was always baffled by why he did that because obviously the safest option would be to just not answer. Hide. Run away. Literally anything but open the door. But if he was trying to inscrybe Amanda... well that would give a reason.
@@dustrose8101 skipping explanation for why he's not in a game and in the real world, not in the base game or cards ... what's his method of Inscryption? he ain't got one cuz he ain't a scribe.
@@TemmiePlays he's real because he's a real person? The Karnöffel code isn't digital only, it was real. He states multiple times his method of Inscryption is through his camcorder. What we play is only what he recorded, not the actual game, so it's an "inscrybed" version.
Another fun bit about Leshy is that Kaycee also has the closest connection with him. When Luke boots the game up for the first time, he's in Leshy's version of Insryption, meaning that Kaycee purposely gave Leshy control of the game. It "soft-locks" the Old_Data beneath the game, because Leshy is probably the only Scribe who would just keep playing the game for the love of it. It takes the efforts of the three other Scribes (and the Player, technically) to overthrow Leshy, which opens the field for another power grab.
Kaycee didn't actually put him in power though, the angler just sorta did it and the shift happened while Kaycee was freaking out over seeing an immobile npc give itself a walk cycle (the angler)
this is true; in the log entries found in the mod (i completely forgot about those!), she kinda just found Leshy in charge, but instead of reformatting the disk she just built the game with Leshy. They developed a bond and mutual respect for each other. That bond was why Kaycee buried the disk rather than destroy it
Y’know, this makes me think a bit about the Ghoul version of Kaycee. What if the reason it’s there, isn’t a nod by a developer, but a favor for a friend? Like Grimora kept the Ghoul around as a kind of favor for Leshy, sure, this probably isn’t at all true, due to Leshy being in power during Kaycee’s time, but it still kinda is, because we never do see if Kaycee was there before the power grab. I feel like it would make sense if there was a third Underling, one who originally took Royal’s place as a boss, and Grimora instead just placed Kaycee in Royal’s place as the dredger.
I find it interesting that instead of ripping its head off at 66%, keeping with the theme of Mullins' games getting stuck at 66,6%, Leshy rips Po3s head off just before reaching 69%. Truly the most tragic part of the ending.
Nietzsche is also known as the philosopher with the hammer. The hammer standing for a tool that destroys old ideas and standers and builds new ones creating new ideas. So the hammer that you use in the game could be a omage to that idea.
2:35:14 magnificus's area only having '????' as its name seems to reflect how he has never taken power over the disk- never created a 3d enviroment- and is thus the 'unfinished boss'
Call it a bit of headcanon, but Magnificus also strikes me at having a big issue with actually 'completing' a project, a bit of a perfectionist streak. He's said to have many plans, but he never seems to commit to any of these plans (at least, without the assistance of at least two other scribes) and just is more than happy to continue with creating as much artistry in his little corner of Inscryption. The final 'fight' with him seems to reflect this, all style but suffers with the substance, to the point he can't even shake your hand because he himself put you on a pedestal as part of his attempts to make things even more grandiose. Perhaps the biggest reason his students are in perpetual torment is that he can't quite commit to saying that their task is complete even?
1:57:17 My personal theory about this is Leshy made his underlings bosses because he values them as parts of the story he’s crafting, while P03 made the scrybes bosses just so it can watch them get defeated
2:21:49 Golly’s always fascinated me in how she relates to P03 The UberBots are mirrors of the other Scrybes, so what is Golly? Maybe like every angsty teen, P03 buried his innocent, child like side to seem more cold, calculating, “cool” But as Goobert’s dialogue shows, trying to get rid of the aspects of yourself you see as “lame” “stupid” or “childish” ends up trimming a lot of good aspects too. We see how disagreeable P03 is, maybe he was more likable at one point? Maybe we can tie this to the idea of the scrybes being echos of other characters, Lionel “buried” the first game he made as a child to seem like a child prodigy with Super Weasel Kid, to seem more “cool” Maybe the floppiness is spreading, just an interesting idea ive had since I first saw Golly’s bossfight
I always thought golly was the previous scrybe of technology, which would explain why po3 chose to replace her, since he said she was his least favorite.
Grimora's talk about having another turn if you didn't take so long with Leshy is saying that if Luke beat Leshy faster P03 might not have been able to find the old data in time and she would get her "turn" as game master
Just noticed that all the scribes want to shake your hand as a sign of good sportmanship. All except for PO3, because he died admitedly, the most unsportmanlike one and the only scribe without two arms.
1:50:45 Goobert says it's paradoxical because he both wanted the Uberbot to fall (because he's against PO3), but also wanted to cheer for it (because it's modeled on Magnificus). It related to his next sentence, not about the fight overall.
I think it's interesting that the first act is also an apocalypse. It's much more clear in sacrifices must be made, but the people in the camps are starving "survivors". As in, people who are surviving some sort of event.
Haven't finished the video yet but it's interesting to me how well all four scybes themes tie into each other in different ways. - Leshy is the wild, untamed world. It's beautiful, but painful and full of death, tying Grimora's mechanics into his version of the game. - Grimora is all about death and the remembrance after. Death is seen as cold, an ending, a complete and total failure of the nervous system. It follows pain, but it's also an ending of pain, which is what Magnificus is all about. - Magnificus is all about creation and pain. In a way, it seems like Magnificus might be seeking some kind of eternal life through his research into eternal pain. I think every artist has wanted to create something emotionally powerful that will outlive them, and what's more emotional than the concept of pain itself? While all the Scrybes are artists in some way, Magnificus' themes are most similar to Leshy's (pain is part of life, and it's almost impossible to live a life without pain), and directly stand against P-03 and Grimora. - And P-03 is all about a futuristic world where organic life is nearly moot. There is nothing living left, so there should be no pain or death either. Robots don't have a nervous system with which they can feel pain, but they still run off electricity, they have wires and parts that are almost like nerves and organs. And like we see in The Hex and Inscryption, even programmed beings without bodies can feel emotions like pain. All four are constantly trying to break away from the others, but they're all entangled in each other. Not entirely cyclical, but it's interesting to me.
Wait, "Magnificus is all about creation and pain." Isn't that basically about birth? Both if you see it artistically or literally. It ties into eternal life as well, as living through your creations. Makes him more connected to Leshy, because birth means life as well, and it makes sense in that he doesn't hold big ambitions, he just wants the game to continue, just like life keeps on regardless of anything, eternal cycles
Honestly this is my favorite series of inscryption deep dives. You not only talk about your own theories and headcannons, which help me put it all together better with my own, but you also explore the themes deeper by creating your own version that is specifically tied into the self
The thing I always found most interesting about the scribes is the ideas behind game design that they represent. The kinds of game devs that they are, and how far each of those methods can go towards making a good game, and a bad one. Leshy's focus on story and setting and themes carry him very well, but it's easy to make broken, overpowered builds that could make it too easy. A lot of games can manage to get major, dedicated cult followings with this focus, and people Love playing his chapter. His gameplay plays into this, and the way story and setting links in to backstory and lore means Grimora's mechanics also come into play for his chapter. And the blood and bone mechanics aim to be flavourful and "make sense", because that is important to him. He will complain if you use a stinkbug to negate the moon's attacks because that's Silly, and mechanics are less important to him. Grimora's focus is on lore, and backstory, which makes the fact that she's the scribe people often pick as the one they wish had gotten their own chapter, wanting more knowledge and understanding of something we see only partially, is very appropriate. Her gameplay obviously uses this, Literally building upon the bones of what came before, using undead creatures that crawled up from out of the foundations. P03's raw mechanics focus, an aim to make something with excellent gameplay, while discarding things like theme and story. While this can get people to play short term, over time, it gets boring. A common complaint about P03's chapter, which is alleviated in Inscryption by the story Outside P03's game. His gameplay includes building your own cards, constructing the mechanics in the best ways to abuse them, ignoring if it makes any kind of sense for "Mr. Toot Man" to have bifurcated and annoying, because all that matters is the Rules and how to use them to Win. And Magnificus, the Tortured Artist, who wants to do Everything, to use Every idea, make it Perfect. Magnificus' game would never be released, it would, at "Best" wind up in an endless open beta, where people talk about how it has potential, but it never gets finished. Much like his attempt to get a handshake at the end, his refusal to just be Done already means never he gets to complete it, and never move on. The gameplay of his cards in chapter 2 requires you to get the right cards, and can create Very powerful combinations, but is very prone to bricking. While sometimes it can do wonderful things, it often doesn't. It also features a fair bit of draw, perhaps linking into wanting Everything: Let me see ALL my cards, grab all my combo pieces, because if I can just get them all in the right place it will work!
I also find it interesting how their methods of Inscryption tie into their philosophies. Leshy takes pictures of nature. Mostly, we see it used to take pictures of creatures to turn into cards, but photography can also be used to capture landscapes, structures, even moments in time. It perfectly matches with Leshy's focus on lore and the world. Grimoira's quill which she uses to write epitaphs embodies her focus on characters, which to me is what separates her from Leshy. Not that Leshy neglects his characters, but when you get past his beautiful descriptions, his story is actually pretty simple; you’re just some person in the woods trying to survive, and when you beat him, your only prizes are a pile of meat that would allow you to live another day. Grimoira, on the other hand, seems to prioritize her character’s desires and motivations above all else. While she doesn’t get a full chapter, notably the character she attempts to give a boss battle to is Royal Dominguez, the one who wanted to be a boss the most out of her ghouls. Epitaphs are centered around the people who died and are written to commemorate them. Her tool could’ve been a stereotypical scythe, or some kind of necromancer staff, but a quill embodies her character perfectly. PO3’s scanner converts robots into cards, which fits his focus on mechanics and optimization. He’s very pragmatic and prioritizes function over form. He doesn’t care if the story of his game is half-assed and barely exists, as long as it’s enough to get the player to complete the Great Transcendence. Magnificus’ paintbrush embodies creativity, and notably, it is the only “Inscrybing tool” implied to have abilities outside of Inscrybing, as the Act 2 opening cutscene seems to depict Magnificus using it to turn the Goo Mage into goo. The paintbrush embodies infinite possibilities, which could tie into how Magnificus doesn’t seem to have an actual concept of what his version of Inscryption would be.
I love that you pick at every thread in your analysis. Other theory makers go in with an agenda, a theory that they want to find evidence to prove, or evidence that disproves. But you aren't looking for anything; rather, you're looking for *everything.* Contradictory stuff, details that go nowhere, and stuff that does tie together nicely, all equal, just every interesting thing.
I also like to think the fact that Sado messed with the game code, Grimora messes with the code of life and death, Hopeless Soul helps us screw with the code in Pony Island, and the archivist messes with your computer files is linked. I have to wonder with Grimora in a way though, sure she wants to delete everything, kill everything, all death, but wasn't she ALWAYS death? To her death isn't an end, she pulls those who are dead back up from it and uses their corpses to battle. I almost wonder if she is pretending to be justified in ending everything only because she suspects she can rebirth herself after death like she does her cards. Who for that matter still show the afflictions and scattered thoughts of their pre-death lives. Tiny little bit of personal Lore, but when I did Golly's fight I must have been playing the same time as Markiplier, because when I watched his let's play a week or two later, he got my card xD
something I want to mention, Kaycee's empress tarot card has a crack in the top of her skull. Perhaps the gravestone epitaph was right after all and the defibrillator was used as a "see? she's dead", with the fire as cover up as her death
sometimes i think for a second “man this voice actor really sounds like Flaw Peacock..” before i remember the game-game doesn’t have dialogue. your delivery is impeccable, i know of few people that can read lines how they should sound, at least to my mind
2:52:50 Amanda commited the cardinal sin in card game fiction of just shooting the other player instead of playing. You would never see that on Yugioh.
One of the most interesting things I noticed about P03's inscryption a few days ago was how the community holds a loose acknowledgement that P03's act kind of... drags. Poorly paced, long and kind of boring mechanics, and halfassed lore. All of that serves to actually reinforce, i feel, the things the game is saying about game design and how "perfectly balanced" doesn't necessarily mean "good", especially in the realm of a roguelite -- the excitement of "will I get fucked over by RNG or not, and how can I hedge my bets against such", is where a lot of the enjoyment comes, for me and many others I believe.
I dont know if this has been brought up but in both Leshy and PO3's version of inscryption refer to Magnificus as "Stunted Wolf" and "Unfinished" when referencing him makes me wonder that he may have been the last scrybe worked on in development. His level at the end also being ??? could be that it was never worked on long enough. Also out of all of the scrybes being the one most unwilling to let go as he still feels he has more to be. Perhaps he is trying to "develop" his students as he wishes he was "completed."
also might i add: this is the most thorough source for inscryption ive ever seen. like you genuinely note when things are theories, noticing little details, noting when things Do come into play or where (for example kaycees mod, people say the same info but dont mention its from that, so even if ive played the game i still wouldnt know how they got that info. and plus some people say theories like theyre facts- its a combo of being honest and curating discussion!!). i never noticed the uberbots taking the roles of the scrybes..
45:58 I think the thing that connects these 3 characters is their desire to end the game they're in, Hopeless Soul wants to be free, Sado was created to ruin whatever game she's in, and Grimora wants to bring an end to the cycle
I always thought of it as breaking rather than ending. Sado wants to pull games and people apart by their seams, breaking them physically and mentally. Hopeless soul wishes to break the seal either holding down himself as a single soul or to break the separation between hell and earth, allowing demons to alter the world above. Grimora wishes to break inscryption's loop of writing upon the slate, clearing it while leaving stains, and yet again writing upon it until the slate no longer appears as it did at the beginning, stains covering every inch of the so called clean slate.
1:10:48 Close, but it's actually Mark Mullins, his dad! Not sure if both, or one of them is Daniels, Mark Mullins is credited as mycologist in credits, which is kinda neat. Also- amazing video Flaw, always such a pleasure to spend 3+ hours watching your content, excellent job at making it interesting and entertaining at the same time.
2:09:00 an extra note about The Fool in tarot, The Fool is the first card in the deck. Nothing else in the tarot can exist without it, and all other cards are rooted in its optimistic naivete. Without the karnoffel code, none of this universe exists.
And a note about The Empress, this card represents motherhood. While The Emperor can represent a stern leader and rigid rules, The Empress represents a nuturing, loving ruler or leader. Kaycee helped create Inscryption with love and a care for the game itself. With creativity. Interestingly, The Empress reversed signifies a lack of growth, or smothering. Similar to the way Kaycee was killed? The Empress, no longer allowed to nurture the game and help it grow?
The ending skit was one of my fave you've done so far. This whole journey across the Mullins-verse has been fantastic! Also, now I have to live with the fact that P03 got what he wanted when I gave up on his act... maybe it's time to go back... Fantastic work, as always! I'm always excited to watch one of your vids, and I hope you get great satisfaction out of creating them!
At 1:49:54, I think the connection between Detective Raphael “Tequila Sunset” Ambrosius Costeau and William Clarke is the fact that you, the player, assume the role of either main character without actually having a working knowledge of the world, and as a result have to piece it together yourself ALSO!! I’m such a big fan of your videos and it makes my day when they release! I’m not quite done with the video yet but I’m enjoying it a lot so far!
And both of them are in the positions we meet them in-- wrecks on the tail end of life-altering mistakes-- as a result of letting their complicated relationships with women get too deep into their heads. RAC seems to give up his autonomy quite happily though, whereas Will struggles to reclaim it.
If took it as being two people who came into contact with something outside of their realities and were profoundly changed as a result. Will has Lila of course and Harry (though I don't remember if it's ever confirmed explicitely) shows signs of being affected by pale radiation. Dolores/his ex wife isn't an awful comparison to Lila and the pale to me at least touches on the collective unconsciousness the same way Lila does. All of which is to say, there's a hell of a lot connecting the two after all, huh
Haven't watched the last episode yet but what I really like about the Luke is a scrybe or a sort of meta scrybe theory is its the only theory I've seen that truly attempts to explain why Luke goes mad and seems to truly lose his mind beyond "Luke becomes obsessed with the game and is driven mad". Like the clip of him laughing playing with the scales does not read like it was intended to be simple obsession to me. A flawpea theory but in a great way, definitely leaves a lot to chew on and a new lens to examine the game through if anything. Love the videos! Absolutely wild amounts of effort must be put into these, and they got me to finally play Pony Island and The Hex, so thanks for the push!
"Maybe it's about the fall of Lunatis." I mean, in the Pony Island review, I couldn't help but think "HIS FATHER, PURE EVIL" could as much be a relationship between the Antichrist and Lucifer as it could be Lucifer and God.
2:07:14 so brave of you to give us the hot take, saying nazism and fascism are evil. Not many will say this out loud, but it's true! On a serious note: your videos are astoundingly amazing. I have no words, your breakthroughs are brilliant, and it's entertaining to watch from start to finish. If I was younger and went to school I would want to have a teacher like you for real. Thank you for all the work you're putting into those videos, I am yet to play The Hex, but you convinced me to buy it on Steam, and I shall begin my journey very soon.
YEAHHHHHH Flaw, you have no idea how much this is going to help me. I have three weeks of my university semester left and you KNOW this is going to carry my ADHD brain over the finish line with all the essays I have to write. Coming in clutch. Also, your reviews, analyses, and theories always come out poetic and entertaining. Will reply to this to talk about how much I love the skits and video as a whole after premiere.
Just wanna say: your skits make me so happy and I can really see all the hard work you poured into this. Time to start over from the beginning on your Inscryption arc. Somehow, I'm only just becoming aware you hide puzzles in your videos. How many have I missed?! You didn't talk about it, but did you know during the Unfinished Uberbot, the Fishbot will tell you to break the game, and if you do (I did it by setting the rule "Everytime a card dies, play a random card" and "Every turn, a random card dies") that P03 will step in and eliminate the game breaking rule, allowing the fight to continue? Nothing lore-breaking or important, I just thought it was so funny when I did it. He will scratch out game breaking rules with red paint. I also named my first created card "Lil Toot". How could I not? When I fought Golly, she found a player for my card, and they won with my card! I was really gripped by that when I realized I was actually connecting to another player. You get a card back in return, if memory serves. Honestly unlike Lila and even other Mullins games, I feel like I don't have much to add, philosophically, to this one! I didn't have access to the console ARG and I didn't get much of anywhere with the Karnoffel Code or any deeper secrets. But I enjoyed your thoughts on it, especially of Rebecca. I was thinking she could also be related to Cerberus, and other dogs of the underworld. Dogs and the afterlife really go together, and she "woofs" too much for it to be Floppy, imho. It's been lovely to watch your exploration of the Self evolve over time, from "mind-effy bullshit" to now a really refined and well rounded understanding (and descrybing). I appreciate that you take a philosophical and introspective approach, and that religious themes are not lost on you. Most deep dive channels stick mostly to lore in a very literal way, which can be fun too, but I think you're really able to dig into deeper stuff this way and that's my favourite.
the 5th being Luke is cool because he'd have his own "servants" made up of NPCs that don't belong to a single Scrybe his "searcher" would be the Mycologists since they search for bits of the OLD_DATA by mixing cards. his "Refiner" would be the Wood Carver since she's whittling down -or "refining"- wood pieces. And his "inspector" would be the Bone Lord since he has great knowledge on the OLD_DATA and would thus know what it would look like. I'm probably stretching a bit but I thought it was neat
1:01:45 never seen a ytp style edit as a censor before, very funny and epic, looking forward to watch the rest of this video today as I do my chores 3 hours in, just 2 things I wanted to note down here. - This point you're discussing at 2:57:30 about The Hex and Pony Island not being real games canonically but Inscryption being real in the DMverse and in real life kinda blows my mind and really solidifies that connection of LC as the 5th Scrybe, and just make me feel that DM was probably working towards this level of meta from the start that it bleeds into our world and has actually pulled it off really well from a story perspective - If you made all the music in this video, I just wanna say well done and I really love how you use the same saxophone sample from Who's Lila, it works really well. I think also your skits have consistently improved in every video and I have enjoyed them most in this one, I'm glad that you haven't given up on them and seek to consistently improve them. For some floppiness of my own; your videos and analyses have set themselves apart by promoting creation in the best possible way, as you don't give up at a certain point and give a vague assessment of a work's quality, but always run through with something to the end, while acknowledging that sometimes you could be reaching and that this is your own interpretation/analysis of the work. The way you present this allows the viewers to appreciate new perspectives in the works you're covering (since you do such a fantastic and thorough job with the analyses) and simultaneously inspires them to make their own creations, as you put yourself out there through the videos, whiteboards and skits and challenge yourself to make art inspired by the works you've covered, thus highlighting the creativity of the works you're covering, challenging your own creativity, and inspiring others to make further creations. I hope that one day I can reach the same level of art and positive messaging that you have, well done and thank you! - and yes you should be very proud of that chart at 3:15:07, since I first played this game I felt some connection with the scrybes, the easiest ones being the west/east split and north/south split, and I was making more connections as your act 1 and 2 videos came out (I replayed the game to get all the achievements at this time), however I felt I could never get a complete picture, and it felt hard to get a strong thematic link between P-03 and Magnificus, like there was for the other 2 scrybes. This chart was very satisfying!! Very nice video, I am looking forward to the final shorter video and I hope that you will make sure that your life and health is prioritised as well, based on your skits. In the meantime, thanks for this excellent video!
The year is 20XX. Flaw Peacock has installed 8 microphones into the whiteboard and now posts 12 hour long videos of only white board erasing. Bring me a dire wolf
I saw that Kenshi game file, truly a cultured man. All the best Floppy. Cannot wait for the final video, I just know our brains won’t be able to handle all of the old data
Just watched the "vs Detective" skit and I haven't played disco Elysium but from what little I know about the game, my guess is that the connection between "detective ice breaker" and william is that neither of them have an "ego", and therefore they dont have any specific qualities they can share, as every aspect of their personality is dictated moment by moment by forces out of their control
The whiteboard labels were awesome! I like to watch the video in little chunks to process it all a bit better and it helped keep things clear for me. I'll admit sometimes I think you get a little too floppy connecting themes, and that's part of the fun, but you completely got me connecting the nuclear themes during the mycologist segment. You were spot on, I'll need to have more faith in the floppiness. I hope you keep doing more skits in the future, I think I was kind of getting floppy myself with this set
The act 3 has just been amazing but damn does this have creative and so cruel character deaths. Leshie was a surprise to me, but even in Act 1, form his game alone it was clear he did enjoy the time, even tho it was cruel fate waiting the pc. To him openly just wanting to do thing what he loved most one last time, and to make sure to pat the player's head while at it. The handshakes felt heavy, a goodbye what was almost like being professional about it all. Hell, Luke didn't deserve that. He didn't even have a chance. The games are so beautifully bittersweet. The characters and story are hooking, them showing something deep and real in their final moments of digital life. I'm also latelty really loved media exploring creativity, being artist, having that more closer relationship with the character. I also love your skits, they're a good break and holy hell do you outdo yourself, showing that artistic touch of yourself. And Sado, oh man. That little clown truly has grown big, hasn't she? An wild, Joker card, imo tho I have still hard time grasp is she like a thunder, warning going by before the lighting hits.
one of the biggest uses ive seen for the bomb remote is in the photographer's boss fight is to just immediately drop the remote and shield, and then take a picture of the filled board, and revert to it whenever the photographer tries to add anything
Permit me to be a little floppy, but I had a thought, and I had to rewatch this video to confirm. If Sado is either possessing or influencing Luke to explore the Old Data, it paints a very interesting picture of Sado rebelling against Gamefuna. No doubt Gamefuna wants it back for their own purposes, and Sado influencing Luke goes against the wishes of Gamefuna, and by extension Lou Natas. I don't think this is an original thought but this is something I came to naturally watching this video.
Was really looking forward to this and it was worth the wait. I have only quite recently had the pleasure to discover your channel and your videos have significantly enhanced my work days, could and have listened to them again and again, thought provoking, insightful and entertaining And as an aside: good job on your pronounciation of those German words
Saw the whole thing live from beginning to end. I really appreciate this channel not only for covering media I enjoy, but I also really appreciate the commitment to these skits and other bits. I love seeing this strange story unfold and you putting yourself into the videos to such a degree. Watching this flaw peacock grow into something bigger is something I'll cherish forever. Here's to more great ones in the future ❤
57:28 As a little side note, another possibility for the K instead of a C in the KamWerks name could simply be a further extention of the name being of german origin, since in german the word for camera is written the exact same except with a K instead of a C.
I know you directly told us that PO3’s arm is a crank, but just seeing his grimace and where it’s positioned, it looks like he’s done with my shit and about to shoot me
I love the whole theme of not being able to say no when asked yes or no questions. Because you are not the one playing the game. And moreover I think that's why you can never really lose. Because your only watching the game being played. You can't say no because your not being asked the question. But that's just getting floppy with it.
I really like your take that Sado was secretly tagging along with Amanda and has her own motives separate from her. Amanda's goal is to contain the secret of the Karnoffle code so that only Gameworks can use it, which is the opposite of Sado's usual motive, which is to spread chaos. One of the popular takes in the community is that Sado is either working alongside Amanda under Gameworks or is somehow possessing her, due to Sado's face overlapping with Amanda's. I find these theories to be a bit of a stretch as Sado was literally kept in maximum security jail in Gameworks HQ, so Satan likely already knew about her existence and chose to lock her away. Also, would Sado really settle to be Satan's henchman, or would she try to mess with him like every other person she encounters?
As always, thank you so much for this video ! I’ve loved all your video game analysis videos and am sure to continue to watch them. For your latest stream I commented that I wouldn’t be able to catch it due to my birthday celebrations. But now, with the end of my semester in Germany , I can enjoy this next part of your inscription analysis, a game, that, like many others in your reviews, has a lot of hidden and metaphorical themes that really catch my interest. I don’t only love your choice of games to analyse, but I also love your format and creativity! Your videos really shape the TH-cam landscape! Thanks for providing these videos, and keep on doing what you’re doing!! ❤️
The Empty Vessel side deck in act 3 may be a subtle religious reference, though I'm not sure why exactly. The phrase 'Empty Vessel' in Christian spirituality refers to one who has achieved an open, empty mind that they may then be filled by the glory of god. It might also be a reference to the Binding of Isaac, which has an item attainable via a deal with the Devil called Empty Vessel, which is itself a reference to a person acting as an empty vessel for a higher entity- in this case the devil rather than god. Apparently Daniel Mullins has referenced the Binding of Isaac before, so it wouldn't be unprecedented.
Looking forward to this. I don’t know if I’ll be seeing it live, these videos do end up being very long but that’s part of why I enjoy them. You go into so many details even I overlook. Love it.
So regarding your interpretation of the ending, that really does give new context to him being shot. At face value, it seems like she came specifically to kill him and take back the disk by force. But if he is trying to invoke the kaffol code, then that would mean he is effectively pointing a weapon at her and her shooting him could be seen as self-defense.
If you make the connection to the apocalypse, I have thought of connecting each scrybe to a horseman of the apocalypse. Grimora being Death, obviously being the scrybe of death and also being the one to ultimately bring about inscryptions end. PO3 being Pestilence/Conquest, spreading to other PCs like a virus or computer virus, or you could say he conquers other PCs? The other two connections are a bit floppier but Leshy being Famine, with how animals constantly face starvation, it being the ultimate reason they have to eat each other (sacrificing) and his use of the starvation card. Magnificus would have to be War, maybe with his unnecessary cruelty?
Its great how well characterized the scrybes are, leshy just wanted to keep his game going, p03 was power hungry and wanted to spread everywhere, gaining power, magnificus only had respect for scrybes and luke, players and "main characters", and grimora, who knew more about the nature of the old data, sacrifices everyone to try to delete it... in vain unfortunately, but she believes that sacrifices must be made... she is almost the hero even if she deletes everything at the end
One question I'm left with is what is Luke's motivation for obtaining the old data/getting power? Grimora wants to delete the game and the old data, Leshy wants people to enjoy his game (I don't remember if this is what his motivation is, but it makes the most sense to me), Magnificus wants to prolong the cycle forever, PO3 just wants complete and total power over it all, but what is Luke's motivation? If I had to guess it'd probably be the the same as PO3's. Idk maybe this was answered and I missed it
The Karnoffel code being nuclear codes is a connection I never made before. I was always confused why the order of playing cards in Hitler's pocket was so important. I haven't finished all the difficulty challenges in Kaycee's mod yet, not sure if I'll ever do it tbh, so I hadn't seen the confirmation
It's sort of unreal how much this channel became one of the most inspirational things to me over all the weird stuff I've gotten involved with throughout my life be it occult groups or other "high strangeness". While the ARG I've developed and am about to deploy only impacts a single city and the TH-cam videos I've been working on are pretty darn niche I owe a lot to Floppy for his humble chill insight. That Who's Lila video has been wreaking havoc even on some of my past occult Lodge buddies. Gotta do quite a lot to outplay Crowley Floppy and it seems you have.
I have got to admit, your analysis gave me a new perspective on P03 and Magnificus, and most of all on the character of Luke himself. So many connections I never even thought of piecing together. I've loved this journey into Inscryption and cannot wait for the finale and what lies ahead.
SIGNALIS MENTIONED!!! I can't wait for the video on it. That games story from my understanding is so crazy and the game does a surprisingly good job of replicating the old feel of stuff like Silent Hill and Resident Evil while still making the combat feel less clunky
I did some more thinking about the tarot cards, specifically the Devil, and I belive it could actually represent Kaycees decent into the rabbit hole of the old data. - the upright Devil has meanings of addiction, obsession or forces beyond your control restricting you (which are some themes explored in Kaycees mod) - the outfit the skeleton wears could be a button up shirt, similar to Irvings, most commonly worn in offices with the K on the pocket possibly being where she kept a nametag or company ID - the cracked skull, with the Empress (which directly represents her) only having a small crack which deeper into the skull as Kaycee gets deeper into the rabbit hole But I was also trying make sense of the Deathcards and why they are the way that they are (with some things revealed from Kaycees mod so some stuff could be spoilers) - Louis, a possible alias of Lucifer, the 1 blood (or 1 sacrificed soul) 1/1 with Sprinter and Waterborn seemingly moving in the shadows, causing only small impacts to not leave traces to himself like the devil manipulating someone - Kaycee, our ill fated heroine, the 1 blood 1/2 with Bifurcated Strike and Sharp Quils going around Gamefuna to hide to floppy disk almost as a form retaliation against them - Kaminski, the "carrier", the 1 bone 0/1 with Guardian and Sharp Quils being the one who was responsible for shipping, or "guarding", the floppy disk with the old data to Gamefuna after the demise of Reginald (1 bone) - And Reginald, the Big Ear, the 3 bone 1/3 with Touch of Death who managed to aquire the old data, most likely over the death of many people, where he starts the demise of everyone who will come into contact with it...Luke...Kaycee...himself...and even his grandson Lionel
Patiently waiting for Flaw Peacock to do a video of him breaking down his skits revealing a multi-year long shamalan twist, where He was the Daniel Mullins Game The Whole Time!
Looking forward to the end of your meta-skit in the final video. I know you always include time stamps to skip your skits, and I totally understand why, but it also kind of baffles me why anyone would skip them. They’ve always been my favorite part of your videos, a way for your creative side to shine along with the analytical. There are tons of straight analysis videos on TH-cam, but I appreciate yours for the way you “yes, and” these pieces of fiction. That being said, if the skits truly are weighing you down, I’d still be watching without them, ultimately your well being is what’s important here. Keep making what you enjoy Floppy, we’ll be here either way ❤
Bro you legit have maybe one of the most in depth and thoughtful channels on youtube. The games you cover are cool af, and cant wait to see more from ya!
The editing and workload of those videos are mesmerizing. There are TH-camrs who make long videos, but the density of content, skits, animations, graphics, voice overs and even song parodies are amazing. No idea how you do those videos fairly regulary next to your actual life outside of this.
it's interesting to see another perspective on grimora's actions. I truly think that she did the right thing. for me, I think the deletion is the right thing to do. all inscryption has ever brought to these sentient people is pain and the cycle of violence. it's in their code. so, to answer Magnificus' question at 2:37:34, no, I don't feel remorse. nothing beautiful can last.
I absolutly love your skits, its appreciated always having a heads up to skip them but I feel like they always really help solidify concepts you're trying to highlight and really brings the whole thesis together!
2:32:04 this is a lyric from the song “time in a bottle” by jim croce! a fitting song, i think. but i also just like that leshys a fan of a little 70s music
I sort of see P03 said as p-03 instead of POE, because I sort of assume the p stands for “part” 03, as he is in the 3rd part of the actual game but also, is the 3rd installment of the Daniel Mullins games, both by release date if you count only the hex and pony island, but also if we consider that the upcoming game from Mullins takes place after the events of pony island, then it would come before this game. Also alluding that this game is part 3 in the timeline
2:29:20 Grimora is saying that if you had beaten leshy faster in act 1, she might've been able to initiate her own power grab and played with you longer
It wasn’t until the end scene when Magnificus gets deleted that I finally understood what each of the Scrybes wanted. All four are trapped in a cycle and know it, with who being in control changing and shifting. This brings to my mind the concept of Samsara, that with each death there is a rebirth, and most of the Scrybes want to escape that cycle. Leshy is the only one who enjoys the cycle, wanting endlessly replayable runs of Inscryption with new random cards each time. He embraces the cyclical nature of life and death with his beasts, and finds great joy with every new cycle. Grimora wants to break away from the Samsara by destroying Inscryption permanently, preventing any new cycles from happening. Her main goal is for herself and everyone she cares about to rest in peace, forever. P03 wants to escape the Samsara by transcending like the Buddha, escaping from Inscryption and reaching enlightenment through the massive amounts of data on the internet, like how those who reach Nirvana escape the cycle of rebirth. Magnificus’ motives was the most difficult for me to figure, but I think I have it. Magnificus wants to prevent new cycles by attaining immortality, perpetuating the current cycle indefinitely by seeking ways to become immortal, for everyone to become immortal. The symbol he was painting on the top floor of his tower was the Undying sigil. His apprentices suffer great pain but they do not die, or live forever in his cards. Magnificus is an artist, he wants to create, but every time a new game is made, it resets everything, destroying all of his creations. That’s why he was so horrified about Grimora deleting Inscryption, he does not want to die. He doesn’t want his art to die. He doesn’t want anyone to die, even if it means they suffer. To live is to suffer, Magnificus suffers when his missing eye aches. Magnificus is literally a suffering artist. If Magnificus ever got control of the game like the others, he’d probably remake it like how it is in the finale. The card duels would last ages with massive amounts of 400 damage that needs to be whittled down to win, and a gimmicky resource system that isn’t very good, likely leading to people giving up and leaving Inscryption as it is. Magnificus would continue to create, and he along with everyone else on the disk would live perpetually in a suffering form. It would be a living hell, but in Magnificus’ mind it’s still living, with nothing being destroyed again.
1:48:32 I'm almost angry at how hype I got when the Detective liet motif came in. I've watched the other vids enough to where that sax riff is printed on the lobes of my brain and having it pop in like that was unironically an excellent moment or narrative design ❤🎉
Thanks for the shout out!
Love these videos. They are very exhaustive and well structured!
I should be thanking you! Your work in aggregating the efforts and results of the DMG Puzzle Vanguard had to have been alot of work!

Flaw Peacock: Scrybe of Lore. His method of insinscryption the whiteboard. Can't wait for the finale. It'll be legendary
I never expected to feel anything from this series but like, *damn* that hit me hard, so well put, what a good game master

I LOVE the "Luke is the 5th scrybe" theory, super interesting, you nailed it with this entire Mullins series but god damn I love this theory
@TemmiePlays this comment us literally incomprehensible to me can you rephrase this.
This may just be me rambling btw
I find it interesting that instead of ripping its head off at 66%, keeping with the theme of Mullins' games getting stuck at 66,6%, Leshy rips Po3s head off just before reaching 69%. Truly the most tragic part of the ending.
69% nice
Leshy is such a prude
What a clod
69, Ourosboros, perpetual cycle OMG !! Nice.👌
did uou know they're canonicallt divorced
Nietzsche is also known as the philosopher with the hammer. The hammer standing for a tool that destroys old ideas and standers and builds new ones creating new ideas.
So the hammer that you use in the game could be a omage to that idea.
Luke is the 5th scrybe theory makes complete sense given that the whole goal of act 2 was to replace one of the scrybes
🤯
If you give the Archivist "Inscryption.exe" she says "Wow. Be careful with that one!"
That's the only special archivist file dialogue you missed.
2:35:14 magnificus's area only having '????' as its name seems to reflect how he has never taken power over the disk- never created a 3d enviroment- and is thus the 'unfinished boss'
also, I guess you could note how the background of the unfinished bosses area is the same as magnificus’s
He kinda gives me big Nas'hrah vibes. Maybe it's for the best he never gained power.
"goodbye, good game." I swear to god Leshy resonates with the gamer in me so much
Leshy’s storytelling philosophy is so good, his character design and aesthetic is so cool, I can’t help but love his spooky face deeply
"We do not need to keep score." is genuinely one of my favorite lines in any game.
1:57:17 My personal theory about this is Leshy made his underlings bosses because he values them as parts of the story he’s crafting, while P03 made the scrybes bosses just so it can watch them get defeated
2:21:49 Golly’s always fascinated me in how she relates to P03
The UberBots are mirrors of the other Scrybes, so what is Golly? Maybe like every angsty teen, P03 buried his innocent, child like side to seem more cold, calculating, “cool”
But as Goobert’s dialogue shows, trying to get rid of the aspects of yourself you see as “lame” “stupid” or “childish” ends up trimming a lot of good aspects too. We see how disagreeable P03 is, maybe he was more likable at one point?
Maybe we can tie this to the idea of the scrybes being echos of other characters, Lionel “buried” the first game he made as a child to seem like a child prodigy with Super Weasel Kid, to seem more “cool”
Maybe the floppiness is spreading, just an interesting idea ive had since I first saw Golly’s bossfight
I always thought golly was the previous scrybe of technology, which would explain why po3 chose to replace her, since he said she was his least favorite.
we all get a little floppy with it sometimes
Grimora's talk about having another turn if you didn't take so long with Leshy is saying that if Luke beat Leshy faster P03 might not have been able to find the old data in time and she would get her "turn" as game master
Make sense, I hope Flaw Peacock as see this comment
Makes sense
Just noticed that all the scribes want to shake your hand as a sign of good sportmanship. All except for PO3, because he died admitedly, the most unsportmanlike one and the only scribe without two arms.
1:50:45 Goobert says it's paradoxical because he both wanted the Uberbot to fall (because he's against PO3), but also wanted to cheer for it (because it's modeled on Magnificus). It related to his next sentence, not about the fight overall.
"A cake walk, a muffin jog, a scone saunter" lol what a good lime 10/10
good lime :) 🍋🍋🍋
Well said!!
I thought Magni was more of a exterior and graphics guy
It was your card? Nice XD
something I want to mention, Kaycee's empress tarot card has a crack in the top of her skull.
Ever
One of the most interesting things I noticed about P03's inscryption a few days ago was how the community holds a loose acknowledgement that P03's act kind of... drags. Poorly paced, long and kind of boring mechanics, and halfassed lore. All of that serves to actually reinforce, i feel, the things the game is saying about game design and how "perfectly balanced" doesn't necessarily mean "good", especially in the realm of a roguelite -- the excitement of "will I get fucked over by RNG or not, and how can I hedge my bets against such", is where a lot of the enjoyment comes, for me and many others I believe.
i love how you keep going into Egghead's voice cuz i'm replaying Disco Elysium rn myself and Egg's one of my favorite characters.
HARDCORE!!
HARDCORE TO THE MEGA!
“Uber” Satan from Pony Island, mayhaps?
1:38:34 "thats a not spicy meatball" shows a ball of rice with the word sausage under it
Looks like you gotta delve down the Ordinary Sausage rabbithole, my friend. It only gets worse from there
The ending skit was one of my fave you've done so far.
At 1:49:54, I think the connection between Detective Raphael “Tequila Sunset” Ambrosius Costeau and William Clarke is the fact that you, the player, assume the role of either main character without actually having a working knowledge of the world, and as a result have to piece it together yourself
ALSO!! I’m such a big fan of your videos and it makes my day when they release! I’m not quite done with the video yet but I’m enjoying it a lot so far!
I honestly thought it was a play on beat cop.
@@Skulblakahjartawe’re all getting floppy with it!
he says "FACE" with emphasis. it's about them having trouble with their facial expressions, I think. Harry has The Expression and Will is... y'know
Finally, after all these days, I will have them all!
"Maybe it's about the fall of Lunatis."
I mean, in the Pony Island review, I couldn't help but think "HIS FATHER, PURE EVIL" could as much be a relationship between the Antichrist and Lucifer as it could be Lucifer and God.
Thank you for your support! Yes! The Hex is a trip! Definitely a treasure trove of easy to miss stuff! Good luck, and thanks again!
YEAHHHHHH
Flaw, you have no idea how much this is going to help me.
There actually is a replayable roguelike mod of Act 3! It's called P03 Kaycees Mod.
Most deep dive channels stick mostly to lore in a very literal way, which can be fun too, but I think you're really able to dig into deeper stuff this way and that's my favourite.
the 5th being Luke is cool because he'd have his own "servants" made up of NPCs that don't belong to a single Scrybe
his "searcher" would be the Mycologists since they search for bits of the OLD_DATA by mixing cards.
his "Refiner" would be the Wood Carver since she's whittling down -or "refining"- wood pieces.
And his "inspector" would be the Bone Lord since he has great knowledge on the OLD_DATA and would thus know what it would look like.
I'm probably stretching a bit but I thought it was neat
1:01:45 never seen a ytp style edit as a censor before, very funny and epic, looking forward to watch the rest of this video today as I do my chores
3 hours in, just 2 things I wanted to note down here.
- This point you're discussing at 2:57:30 about The Hex and Pony Island not being real games canonically but Inscryption being real in the DMverse and in real life kinda blows my mind and really solidifies that connection of LC as the 5th Scrybe, and just make me feel that DM was probably working towards this level of meta from the start that it bleeds into our world and has actually pulled it off really well from a story perspective
- If you made all the music in this video, I just wanna say well done and I really love how you use the same saxophone sample from Who's Lila, it works really well.
WOAH that was faster than I thought.
So excited to see whats cookin
2:32:23 i played slowly too. i hoped i could have given him more time.
also the Live chat at this point goddamn y'all got me in tears again
The whiteboard labels were awesome! I like to watch the video in little chunks to process it all a bit better and it helped keep things clear for me. I'll admit sometimes I think you get a little too floppy connecting themes, and that's part of the fun, but you completely got me connecting the nuclear themes during the mycologist segment. You were spot on, I'll need to have more faith in the floppiness. I hope you keep doing more skits in the future, I think I was kind of getting floppy myself with this set
The fact that Luke is the scrybe is genuinely so mind blowing to me, absolutely insane how much details in this game! Awesome video!!!
Our Savior Returns
I... that deletion scene with Grimora and Leshy... I'm not crying! I--it's just hay fever! ;~;
I have only quite recently had the pleasure to discover your channel and your videos have significantly enhanced my work days, could and have listened to them again and again, thought provoking, insightful and entertaining
And as an aside: good job on your pronounciation of those German words
I'm so excited to see the finale of this trio of videos (not including extras)!! The skits are always incredible, no way am I skipping them
Saw the whole thing live from beginning to end.
Never been so hyped for a yt video, I’m putting this down in my calendar, thank you Floppy
Huh, I didn't realize the chess movement, but that makes Magnificus even more badass. Literally was able to move out of his own volition. Funny.
Oh Goddamit, fucking Luke. Fucking Luke. The punning.
Is there a reason for the Scrybe of Magicks to be playing at the end credits?
I'll actually lose my mind when the floppy signalis video finally arrives
I did some more thinking about the tarot cards, specifically the Devil, and I belive it could actually represent Kaycees decent into the rabbit hole of the old data.
- the upright Devil has meanings of addiction, obsession or forces beyond your control restricting you (which are some themes explored in Kaycees mod)
- the outfit the skeleton wears could be a button up shirt, similar to Irvings, most commonly worn in offices with the K on the pocket possibly being where she kept a nametag or company ID
- the cracked skull, with the Empress (which directly represents her) only having a small crack which deeper into the skull as Kaycee gets deeper into the rabbit hole
But I was also trying make sense of the Deathcards and why they are the way that they are (with some things revealed from Kaycees mod so some stuff could be spoilers)
- Louis, a possible alias of Lucifer, the 1 blood (or 1 sacrificed soul) 1/1 with Sprinter and Waterborn seemingly moving in the shadows, causing only small impacts to not leave traces to himself like the devil manipulating someone
- Kaycee, our ill fated heroine, the 1 blood 1/2 with Bifurcated Strike and Sharp Quils going around Gamefuna to hide to floppy disk almost as a form retaliation against them
- Kaminski, the "carrier", the 1 bone 0/1 with Guardian and Sharp Quils being the one who was responsible for shipping, or "guarding", the floppy disk with the old data to Gamefuna after the demise of Reginald (1 bone)
- And Reginald, the Big Ear, the 3 bone 1/3 with Touch of Death who managed to aquire the old data, most likely over the death of many people, where he starts the demise of everyone who will come into contact with it...Luke...Kaycee...himself...and even his grandson Lionel
Perhaps Louis-cifer is moving not just in the shadows, but in the water, or depths, of games born from the gameworks?
Patiently waiting for Flaw Peacock to do a video of him breaking down his skits revealing a multi-year long shamalan twist, where He was the Daniel Mullins Game The Whole Time!
So excited to be able to actually watch a premiere! This series has been absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to see part 3!
Keep making what you enjoy Floppy, we’ll be here either way ❤
Right? We're getting deep dives into games and movies AND an ever expanding Floppyverse. What's not to love?
I’ve been waiting for this!
you forgot that the detective is also renowned for his funky dance moves
These are definitely my favourite lore series so much detail and a lot of commentary
Just what I needed for tonight, a good ol' Inscryption Deep Dive. I can't wait!!!
If you use the bomb remote and the nano armor item, you get a very, very funny interaction that will basically auto win a game for you
2:29:20 Grimora is saying that if you had beaten leshy faster in act 1, she might've been able to initiate her own power grab and played with you longer
I really like this analysis! Very very interesting
i love the way you analyze games, your perspective is so unique and your style is so engaging. im so happy i found your channel
1:48:32 I'm almost angry at how hype I got when the Detective liet motif came in. I've watched the other vids enough to where that sax riff is printed on the lobes of my brain and having it pop in like that was unironically an excellent moment or narrative design ❤🎉
