Going forward, why would any collector buy into any new series The Royal Mint (RM) produce? There will be a 'decline in interest' (to use the same words as they used in their e-mail), from most - if not all - of their customers. Why? Because those who bought into this series will, like BYB and yours truly, no longer trust them and will take our custom elsewhere. And those who didn't invest in this series will think to themselves: "Jeez, I dodged a bullet there"; feel sorry for those of us who got conned - yes conned, think twice about buying from the RM again and, certainly, likely never invest in a series like this one. Well done RM, you haven't just shot a hole in your foot - you've blown it clean off.
Exactly. But this is not the first series they have cancelled. They did the same with the RM lunar series (billion). They cancelled that and said only limited gold proofs would continue, about 8 coins in! Yet, people still bought from them. What they do is they make a nice fancy coin series to follow and then people quickly forget because they're sick of Britannias & Sovereigns. Seen it all before.
@@BackyardBullion 100% agreed. The second you lose confidence in a mint it's over. To me, we are not buying sweets in a local shop, this metal is pricey but it comes with conditions, expectations and above all buyers trust. RM has certainly lost that.
What a disgrace. The fact they are only willing to offer "Goodwill Gestures" to some customers, and not others, is awful. I shall not be purchasing anything from them in future.
The royal mint doesn't owe anyone any freebies. (likewise no one is obligated to continue buying from the royal mint too) I'm sure the offer is based on amount spent, if someone who only ever bought a single 1oz silver coin out of the series were offered the same goodwill gesture as someone who spent thousands, that wouldn't seem fair either.
@@ah5836 I agree in some aspects, but the way they've handled it is very poor. Like you said, it shouldn't be the same goodwill gesture for all. However, to have a cutoff and say some people get zero compensation and others get some is quite disappointing. The compensation should be proportional to the money spent for ALL customers, not just a few they deem to be big spenders. Well at least they bothered to contact you. I have the first 4 in platinum... asked when the 5th is coming out, they can't say - yet a full range of silver and gold have just been released with the Tudor Dragon. The 4th coin was "limited stock" and I had my doubts at that point.

1.) does this really bad situation translates into extremely low # of coins out there ? Low # could lead to good collector value in a few (or many) years? 2.) there may be another change in monarch in a few years. I suspect I will be crawling back to royal mint when that happens ….
I’m not a conspiracist but I do believe that this beginning of the end of the Royal mint, with the looming threat of “Britcoin” (what an insult to Bitcoin!) there would be too much of a conflict of interest with real, hard money being accessible. It would be interesting to see if other European mints are running “difficulties “ too as they roll our their CBDCs
I'm collecting both the Tudors and Monarchs; I'd be stunned if they cancelled both in favour of music artists, cartoon characters, Star wars and James bond. If it's not cost effective, they should look at their costs! If the market has changed, well, who produced recency biased coins. I'm interested if the RM ever previously cancelled series. Oh, i got no good will offer..
Forgive me if I go off topic in the video but I would still like to express that I am very disappointed that @royalmint does not mint the special series in the tenth-ounce size. "Lion&Eagle", "Tudor Beasts", "Myths&Legends" are only produced in larger sizes. Although the premium on small tenths is quite high, I think it is a good compromise for collecting and investing, especially lately given the dramatic increase in prices... I would like to know what you think and maybe you can make a video about it. Compliments for your channel!
It’s true the Star Wars 50p is easy sell this series will run on for god knows how many sets of x4 coins like dinosaurs 🦕 same gig monarch series had good followers yes the last 2 releases where bit plain but you bought them too continue too next juicy issues I’m really bitter over this I have George Michael sets on hold tomorrow I will cancel that series as well I can’t be arsed carrying on Music legends
I actually stopped buying from the mint for a few years, 3 tears ago. Tried again at the tail end of last year and it was a disaster again. They messed up 3 our of 4 orders. I'll only buy direct from them again if i know we are getting a deal that they have messed up on. (Like the 5g Gold bars)!
I assume the item/s you purchased now aren’t as described. Therefore, they should honour a full refund. If you continue to have no joy with The RM… You could consider taking this one up with The Ombudsman. All best!
I agree your right only thing is we didn’t sign up for full series it was a grab one and hope you get next one it’s really pissed me off I too won’t start anything else good luck to us all xx royboy1
I feel sorry for all the collectors out there who are in this series! I am in the Tudor series, but if I have a look into the products left on the royal mint homepage, I have not a good feeling at all
I am disappointed. I suspected this was coming but it is a great shame that none of the houses even got completed. Releasing them in a disjointed way was a mistake. I was looking forward to getting the rest of the House of Tudor coins in 5oz silver and the final coin dedicated to Queen Elizabeth II. I am concerned about the Tudor Beasts series now. I sent them an email about the bullion version of the Tudor Dragon and I got a reply saying that the information was confidential and that they cannot comment on it at the moment. Hopefully they will continue it even if the mintage is lower. I would be very unhappy with them if they cancelled that as well. This has made me reluctant to start buying any new proof series from the Royal Mint.
I totally agree. The hilarious thing is someone got an email back from the customer services team saying the coins would be sought after now they are cancelled. Yeah, right of course. Stupid
I have said this before, RM just don't think long term about the series they are releasing. The Lunar series just fell to bits, the great engravers bullion bars have now reverted to a second Una and lion rather than a reimagined gothic crown design, the colour cartoon 50ps just all over the place. Proof Britannias are not commandig the excitement they should and when they dont know what to do they just release some odd 007 bunf and a nice alphabet 10p set that never got into anyones change so rendering them utterly pointless and unknown to the mass population, like most of their 50ps these days.
I will be fuming if they cancel the Tudor beasts I have collected the 1 oz and 1/4 gold 1 0z 2 oz and proof silver of every release from the Tudor beast so far
I don't think they will, they sold that series with an actual subscription of 10. Doesn't mean they can't, but it would be a massive own goal if they did.
When Royal Mint’s collectables section starts tanking in market share they will have no idea why… Royal mint is not committed to customers .. it treats them with contempt. Nor is it committed to quality products, as seen in its world famous poor quality control. BOYCOTT ! BOYCOTT ! BOYCOTT!
What a kick in the teeth to collectors. People need to be careful and think long and hard whether they want to invest in another series from the Royal Mint. Nothing worse spending thousands only to not be able to complete a series. Disgraceful behaviour.
Thanks bullion I’ve watched you for long time and when you had issues with the petition crown I did as well I had 3 and all had faults set the lot back shame I liked it too xx Royboy in Yorkshire
Hope this doesn’t mean they go on to cancel the Tudor Beast range as well. Last series I’ll stick with. Too risky to start any others if this is how they manage themselves
Is there nothing that can be done through trading standards? I feel as though I’ve been mislead into buying these! The description of these coins when buying isn’t the same now, I have been mislead!!!
This actually does not surprise me ...hope they don't discontinue the tudor beasts series ...after your perth mint vid have just made our first direct purchase from them...the 125 anniversary typeset series can't wait for it to arrive ...if it was not for the whole cgt think would probably not even buy brits and sovs to be honest
Think of this another way these already released coins could in future be worth alot to collectors as a failed series assuming that they haven't sold many of those so far there won't be many out there. Im finishing the latest 007 series in 1oz proof then will only be buying bullion royal mint stuff. (Not direct as there cheaper ways than buying from them)
Absolute shambles. Their reputation has taken a MASSIVE hit doing this. I feel for all those that had committed to collecting this series. Words fail me, very disappointing and as you say, embarrassing.
I too like many others are in middle of Tudor beast set I also have the 6years of James Bond set now that will or should complete but as for future series sets no way I will put my money into sovereign instead at least I can cash out for gold price what can I get for half a 1/3 of a set of monarchs ?...should I hold onto them on hope they will be sort after at some point who knows I know there’s a lot of unhappy coin guys today good luck everyone xx royboy1 in Yorkshire
@Diesel don't hold your breath on the Bond series. No series is safe. There was only ever one series that were hotcakes in my mind and that was the original queen beasts series. The demand for those was insane and still is. Don't trust any current or future series. It's not worth the risk my friend.
Won’t the coins that was sold in the series go up in value through its rarity. They just claimed there was low demand which means not a lot in circulation. Hold on to them and watch the price rise.
I'm curious as to how it failed to be profitable. Maybe it just wasn't as profitable as they wanted? This move just does more to damage their reputation
I totally agree. They should have just minted to order what they were selling and be done with it. But no, they want every penny possible to line their pockets. CEO Anne Jessop earned £378k last year.
I stopped buying silver chibies from the new aealand mint cos they didn't stop.....lol..I bought 80 then figured they'd be making them for decades..lol.
Stopped buying from them some time ago after their quality assurance became laughable. Got the same email...and politely told them to whistle dixie!! The likes of Perth Mint are far superior and shed load cheaper.
OK, so put a small claims court claim in. Do it on line and it will cost 50 quid! I think they have not fulfilled there promise, I think there is a good chance of success! False advertising is not good and will go against them!
@@BackyardBullion I just think it would be 50 quid well spent, plus they can't counter claim as you have done nothing wrong! Also it would pee them right off 🤣
Bad form from the royal mint. I hope they dont but if they cancel the Tudor beasts, then the 4 1/4s that i have will be going straight into a 1 oz. Minus the premium thats on those bad boys so thats an extra 70 or so quid i will have to still add on and it will be bye bye to future royal mint releases feom me. Tavex bullion all the way!
Stopped buying from the Royal Mint a while ago due to there price hikes as for cancellation did you expect anything else from the mint the mint needs to change at the very top 😢😢😢
Tbh I'm happy that the series is to be discontinued. I'd rather the RM spent more time fixing quality control and milking issues rather than churning out more random coins/series, charging massive premiums and seeing what sticks after the success of the queens beasts, una & the lion, ect. I sympathize with those wanting to collect the series but that's the chance you take buying a premium product, it might not be popular and just be worth the metal content of the coin. Feels like buying an oz of gold at $2400 and wanting to get a full refund from the coin shop if it crashes back down to $2200 the next day. I hope you can get it resolved to something you can be happy with, however on this occasion I don't have a problem with how the RM has handled it, they don't owe you anything or have to offer anything imo. Its not like people send them a cheque with the profits they made from some of the series that have done well previously, that they then go on to resell after. It's easy to say for me to say this being someone not invested in the series, I'm only wishing those affected by this the best and acknowledge that they'll likely disagree with my opinion.
This just reminds me of the collection of magazines 1 - 100 (Sci fi, football whstever) and they stop mid way. This has destroyed any trust l have if l were to aim for a complete series!

Not viable?? at those prices, are they seriously trying to tell us they arnt making money on this series. i call BS on that. Maybe they priced too many people out of the series? Either way its their fault and they messed up, its bad practice to cancel part way through.
I'm confused on the details. With this program, were you buying the coins as each one was being released, or did they have people pre-paying for the future releases? You've spent 3375 pounds on the series, have you received all the coins you paid for? Understand you wanted more, but just trying to understand if this was a pre-pay situation. I looked at their website of product offerings, and first glance the whole program looks to be an absolute confusing mess. Mintages are way too low for the full scope of the planned series, and they have too many needless product variations. If they ditched the 2oz & 10oz varieties, triple/quadruple the mintages, reduce prices by maybe a third, it would have had a greater chance at being a profitable series.
What a joke! 💩 I’m not buying anything from them either….or even visiting there! That’s soooooo bad that they can only give you 2oz silver for over £3k of spend! 💩 💩 ✌️✌️✌️🖕🖕🖕
I only bought from the royal mint because no other bullion dealer had this particular coin but I would never buy again from royal mint as the customer service they provide is ridiculous id rather use Atkinsons or tavex bullion cheers 🥂🥂
I am so happy to hear that you're finally going to stop transacting with the Royal Mint. You hate the products and the service, and have finally come to your senses. See you at the next Royal Mint video!
I don't think I am. They basically have sold the coins all individually and had them as the intention to make 21 coins. They cancelled after 8. It's really shit what they have done.
This makes no sense. Why have they not made a complete limited set? You could reduce the make by half if you made them dbl headers. This would also add a uniqueness to the collection. Or am I just being northern again? Quality rant! Note to self don't get on BYB shit list.😂
Had zero interest in the series. Modern copies of historic coins. I have a genuine 1605 James I Unite, why would I buy a modern version of it? The suckers are the gold proof collectors - auction values for graded examples have not performed well at all.

Keep your coins times in your favor for the melt price to break even, also they will be a good keep around to look at to remember the burn.
Might be the only option .
Only just saw this after putting a significant investment into the series both gold and silver. Never again
Sad times. Royal mint don't care though, they thank you for padding Anne Jessops Bonuses and pay packet.
Thanks for sharing, it's a really sad state of affairs
I assume the item/s you purchased now aren’t as described.
Therefore, they should honour a full refund.
If you continue to have no joy with The RM… You could consider taking this one up with The Ombudsman.
All best!
I agree your right only thing is we didn’t sign up for full series it was a grab one and hope you get next one it’s really pissed me off I too won’t start anything else good luck to us all xx royboy1
Should be refunded everything he payed. Sounds like a scam. Everyone needs to watch this video & learn.
@@DIESELHILUX on the premise it was a series
I may very well take this up with the ombudsman
Well said! Totally agree.
I will be fuming if they cancel the Tudor beasts
I have collected the 1 oz and 1/4 gold 1 0z 2 oz and proof silver of every release from the Tudor beast so far
BOYCOTT ! BOYCOTT ! BOYCOTT!
This is all against a backdrop of paying Anne Jessop (CEO) £378k last year in pay and bonuses.
What a kick in the teeth to collectors.
People need to be careful and think long and hard whether they want to invest in another series from the Royal Mint.
Nothing worse spending thousands only to not be able to complete a series.
Disgraceful behaviour.
It really is. The easiest answer is to never buy from the mint again. I'm done and I hope as many people as I can convince are also done too.
My udders are sore from been milked like a COW buying into the Tudor monarchs series xx Royboy in Yorkshire
It sucks. Thanks for your email by the way!
Thanks bullion I’ve watched you for long time and when you had issues with the petition crown I did as well I had 3 and all had faults set the lot back shame I liked it too xx Royboy in Yorkshire
Lol
Welcome to the Perth Mint!
The best mint
100% agree.
Hope this doesn’t mean they go on to cancel the Tudor Beast range as well. Last series I’ll stick with. Too risky to start any others if this is how they manage themselves
We will see
Is there nothing that can be done through trading standards? I feel as though I’ve been mislead into buying these! The description of these coins when buying isn’t the same now, I have been mislead!!!
The Royal Mint can offer to buy-back those sold Coins, at the original price sold.
Their silver bullion quality is very poor. Also I bought their new 2023 prof coins collection and that was poor too.
Go Perth mint every time I say
Yes I also have the TB to date, and suspect that will go the same way as they haven't rasied the 10 oz bullion coin yet for the Bull.
It's just a stupid situation and the mint will lose way more customers than the cost of continuing the series.
@Diesel don't hold your breath on the Bond series. No series is safe. There was only ever one series that were hotcakes in my mind and that was the original queen beasts series. The demand for those was insane and still is. Don't trust any current or future series. It's not worth the risk my friend.
getting a bit sick of ANY state sponsored mints
Youre not wrong
Won’t the coins that was sold in the series go up in value through its rarity. They just claimed there was low demand which means not a lot in circulation. Hold on to them and watch the price rise.
They are selling for around 50% of issue price right now.
Took you long enough to realise what rubbish looks like. They are losing money on their hedgebooks so it’s time to close shop.
I'm finally done.
Maybe it’s what news is about to be released, I believe no one would want them, after they know the truth.
I stopped buying silver chibies from the new aealand mint cos they didn't stop.....lol..I bought 80 then figured they'd be making them for decades..lol.
Thanks for sharing
Ive often wondered why no 1960,1961 and 1975,1977 Sovereigns weren't minted.
I gave up on rm ages ago with all the Harry Potter and Star Wars 50ps the good days of the great British coin hunt albums cheap and good fun
Yep, it's too bad now
Stopped buying from them some time ago after their quality assurance became laughable. Got the same email...and politely told them to whistle dixie!!
The likes of Perth Mint are far superior and shed load cheaper.
Totally agree. Shameful royal mint.
If I recall, the lunar chinese series bullion coins in gold was stopped half way through too in 2020 at the rat coin
I believe so, yes.
@@BackyardBullion yeah I got a couple of the coins, sheep ¼ and rat 1oz and wasn't impressed, nothings changed then 🙄
OK, so put a small claims court claim in. Do it on line and it will cost 50 quid! I think they have not fulfilled there promise, I think there is a good chance of success! False advertising is not good and will go against them!
Not gonna happen. They have covered their bases at the expense of their "loyal customers"
It's a very sad state of affairs.
I'm glad I didn't start getting one of the collections after seeing this
You were the lucky one.
Too right, I had problems getting some simple bullion from them last month, which made me cautious, but now I'll just be sticking to simple stuff
Stopped buying from the Royal Mint a while ago due to there price hikes as for cancellation did you expect anything else from the mint the mint needs to change at the very top 😢😢😢
Not at all. This is all against a backdrop of paying Anne Jessop (CEO) £378k last year in pay and bonuses.
At least they could of ended it with Edward III ( Edward' the Bankrupt).
Nah, that would eat into the £378k that Anne Jessop (CEO) earned last year. Disgusting
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
They won’t fix QC either.
Very disappointed with the royal mint with scraping the British monarch series
You're not the only one!
They were all illegitimate.
This just reminds me of the collection of magazines 1 - 100 (Sci fi, football whstever) and they stop mid way.
This has destroyed any trust l have if l were to aim for a complete series!
Thanks for sharing
I purchased a 2 oz Silver Proof and a 1 oz Silver proof maybe that entitles me to a BU coin 😂
Ha, snowball chance in hell!
The Police 2023 UK 1oz Colour Silver Proof Coin
The Royal Tudor Beasts The Bull of Clarence 2023 UK 1oz Silver
Hogwarts 2023 UK 1oz Silver Proof Coin
Myths and Legends King Arthur 2023 UK 1oz Silver Proof Coin
Myths and Legends Merlin 2023 UK 1oz Silver Proof Coin
The Centenary of Flying Scotsman 2023 UK £2 Silver Proof
Edward Jenner 2023 UK £2 Silver Proof Coin
2024 Britannia UK 1/40oz Gold Proof Coin
Buckingham Palace 2024 UK 1/40th Oz Gold Proof Coin
Here is what I was offered
Thats the same as me, except mine were 2 oz coins. Basically all the coins they can't sell, they are now giving away as a gesture of goodwill.
@@BackyardBullion at least I got free postage
I bought 5 of the series from the RM and was offered nothing. Had to buy 3 others on the secondary market
Jolly ole chap King Charles got jealous he's not showcased in the collection, so its cancelled.
Quite possibly
they better pay up or give the set or gets loads of chargebacks on cards
Sadly that wouldn't work
I was also worried about the Tudor beats I stopped buying from them but still tied with the Tudor range 😢
It sucks for sure.
For that amount of money im pritty sure you could sue them if they dont make an adequate compensation? 🤷🏼♂️
Nah, I don't think so. They just broke their word and as such we should never trust them again.
@@BackyardBullion well not buying from them is for sure if anyone wants anything they better source somewhere else 🤷🏼♂️
You should have told them you would take their 2oz silver……. And specified you explicitly wanted them to source that for you on the secondary market - the Una & Lion from a few years ago lol!!
Oh, don't worry worst case scenario I am taking that 2 oz of silver. I will happily melt it down.
abit of a slap in the face for being a loyal customer. Typical Royal mint
Basically, yes.
Not viable?? at those prices, are they seriously trying to tell us they arnt making money on this series. i call BS on that. Maybe they priced too many people out of the series? Either way its their fault and they messed up, its bad practice to cancel part way through.
Totally agree.
Yes, buying them as they were released. They don't know what they are doing. Stupid company run by greedy people.
What a joke! 💩 I’m not buying anything from them either….or even visiting there! That’s soooooo bad that they can only give you 2oz silver for over £3k of spend! 💩 💩 ✌️✌️✌️🖕🖕🖕
You're not wrong. It's terrible how they treated a "valued" customer. All while they pay Anne Jessop (CEO) £378k last year in pay and bonuses.
They seem to be still doing proof Tudor beasts but i haven't seen any new bu ones.
Yes they still doing it I bought a silver Tudor dragon 1oz
I don't know anything about the future of the tudors.
It's a very sad state of affairs. I think they will lose so much business and reputation.
Love a good moan about the mint 😂😂👏👏
Seems all I can do at the moment
Something doesn't sound right about this as you're legally entitled to a full refund.
I don't think I am. They basically have sold the coins all individually and had them as the intention to make 21 coins. They cancelled after 8. It's really shit what they have done.
@@BackyardBullion It still appears as if there has been a breach of contract. The courts consider verbal agreement to be contractual obligation.
Nah, they will just wriggle out of any suit against this.
This makes no sense. Why have they not made a complete limited set? You could reduce the make by half if you made them dbl headers. This would also add a uniqueness to the collection. Or am I just being northern again?
Quality rant! Note to self don't get on BYB shit list.😂
They don't care, it's that simple.
The Royal Mint has the charisma of a damp rag.
Yes, and they are oblivious to how people think about things. Everything is fine apparently.
Why do you torture yourself buying from them? Btw, what you talked about in the video is a HUGE SCAM. Just 2%????? That 💩 wouldn't fly in America.
Totally agree. It's horrible and I am done
This reminds me of how poker stars started screwing over the big players ending up with many of them leaving, the site was never the same again.
Hopefully the royal mint will learn their mistakes
Had zero interest in the series. Modern copies of historic coins. I have a genuine 1605 James I Unite, why would I buy a modern version of it? The suckers are the gold proof collectors - auction values for graded examples have not performed well at all.
Honestly i only buy rm products now second hand. their pricing is fucking outrageous.
It's shocking
