Something that makes me so incredibly happy, is when singers sound almost exactly the same on the recording as they do in person. With autotune and pop singers, you hardly find that anymore. It's amazing.
I recently had the honor to play Dmitry in my high school's production of Anastasia and I must say, as much as my talents grew throughout that show and I got so much better at singing that song, watching this video makes me realize just how far I have to go still.
He definitely a tenor just as Ramin Karimloo. There are tenors that have a lot of depth to their voice but you can't compare it to true baritones like Norm Lewis for example
@@bigga5737if he really was a tenor then this song would sit so much lower in his range but it doesn’t it’s the top of his range and you can hear it. this song is literally meant for a baritenor

The tone of his voice ugh I just could melt every time I hear it
mr derek klena you well and truly own my heart
it's SO crazy how much he sounds like he does in the cast album!
No one can sing this song like him
This song is SO vocally hard to pull of at the ease he does
It's all about stamina
Gosh he’s so beautiful isn’t it? 🙈
Favorite song from the musical
Derek’s voice is stellar! He really brings this song to life. I hope his career never ends!
Ugh the intensity! Derek is always just “on” he’s a legend.
He still got it 😍
This is liteally the first time I see him starting a performance on stage
I do not know how people try to classify Derek as a tenor, true baritone!
Agree! One of those great Bari voices that doesn't lose its strength as it goes higher up the range. Also demonstrated in 'Come Back' from Dogfight!

Ugh, literally the only one who sings the last note with the right vowel. It annoys me to no end when they go "PetersbAAAAAAARg"
Try singing that note after singing the entire song.
@@elijahtalley1221 I'm not a Broadway-level trained vocalist.
I’m playing this role right now. It’s fucking IMPOSSIBLE
Bcs the "e" vowel is the hardest to be sing in high note so usually people change to "a" to make it easier
@@naomioktarina3981 Totally get it, but it should at least be an "uh" vowel rather than a full blast "AH" like it's a dentist's appointment.
DEREK IS FINE FOR WHAT???
The most generic song of the entire musical, yet he was able to make me like it 👌
Weirdly, that's my favorite HAHA I think because of Derek and how it really fits/molds the character
Santa Fe but make it Russian
