    Thank you for posting this video!
    I've had this printer for about 10 years and never came across this issue until recently.
    I was worried I'd have to retire it- but your helpful instructions and clear visuals allowed me to solve this problem in no time.

    Thanks for the video. Great help! I am a retired dentist and used a dental mirror, as well as a dental bonding brush to apply the super glue that was super helpful in small spaces! My wife held the flashlight which was essential too! You're awesome! Thank you!

    This saved me a lot of time and money. I had this printer sitting in a corner for more than two years .I had no idea how i was going to fix it. Thank you so much for your video it really helped me. The only thing I did differently was that I use my Dremel tool to cut a piece in front of the gear in order for me to freely apply the glue and now my printer is actually working again thank you.

    Thanks, extremely helpful video. I could see the paper wasn't being advanced by the rollers but would not have figured out the gear problem in 100 years. Thanks for the informative video; saved me a lot of frustration and anguish. Your a genius.

    You are the bomb! 10 year old HP 7525 sat on the sidelines for 6 months, scared to try anything. A dab of superglue on the gear shaft as you described and demonstrated just saved me over $200, plus my self-confidence. As the dentist has said, you are awesome in not only figuring out the problem and finding an easy solution, but keeping our stuff working and out of the recycle stream until really necessary. A big thank you from Winston Salem, NC!

    Legend mate, I actually figured out the gear was misaligned, but was too lazy to think about a fix, good old superglue with a mirror and a paperclip! Cheers, love TH-cam!!!

    Thank you! You correctly identified the problem with my 7520. In my case, and this may be instructive to others, that particular gear was slipping on its axle, but it did not slide out of position as did the one in this video. Thus, I could not put glue on the roughened part of the axle. I tried putting both epoxy and super glue at the point where the side of the gear meets the axle, which is hard to do given the location. I thought i had welded the two meshing gears together by carelessness, but when I started the machine those hardened bonds popped apart. I'm back in business!

    This fixed my printer (for now)!! Bought the Loctite Super Glue you recommended. Used a hand mirror laying down in the paper tray to get a better view. Slid the loose gear to the left to reveal the part of the metal rod that has ridges that are supposed to grip the gear. Put some glue on that spot and then slid the gear back into place. An hour later I can print!

Before that it would not grab a single page on its own. I had to manually push in 1 sheet at a time when the mechanism tried to grab a page.

    Thanks for the video it was very helpful. Something that makes it easier to see and get to the gear ia if you tilt the printer on its back. In the bottom there is two tabs that hold that bottom input tray on. Lift each tab and slide the input tray right off. It lets you see the gear that comes loose from the shaft better. I was able to take a q tio and apply expoxy to the shaft and slide the gear back in place to fix mine

      @AName-gx7lb ปีที่แล้ว

      I am stumped too, I see the 2 gears that need to be aligned to EACH other but I don't know where the drop of glue should go? Does it go next to the first gear? Beside it? Does it go on the platform next the the screw? If the glue touches any part of any of the gears and it dries, then the gear engagement will be stuck/obstructed.

    • @ryeguy556
      @ryeguy556 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AName-gx7lb you need to slide the small gear to the side, apply the glue to the metal rod then slide the gear back where you placed the glue. This adheres the cog back to the rod, making it functional again.

    I threw the PoS printer out of thw window from the 4th floor. Made a very satisfying crash sound landing in the trashcan.
    It wasn't the second problem and no amount of cleaning helped if it was the first problem. This is the third HP printer that fails on paper pickup for me, I'm never buying their trash again.
    I'm beginning to suspect planned obsolence.

    • @TeckDrivenTeck
      @TeckDrivenTeck  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It could also be the paper. some papers are to thin, some leave too much dust. the heavy weight paper tends to work the best but it also costs more. I have 5 HP printers printing every day, some are over 10 years old and few were replaced every year. But I had similar experience with other brands as well.
      So go and buy a new printer, just make sure it is small and not heavy so you can throw it out the window as well when that time comes.

    • @00wheelie00
      @00wheelie00 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TeckDrivenTeck I wish it was that, but I used different paper weights and hp premium and advanced photo papers. Nothing was picked up. When the paper they recommend doesnt work and the trouble shooting they suggest doesnt help, thats where I draw the line :-)

    • @TeckDrivenTeck
      @TeckDrivenTeck  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@00wheelie00 I agree there customer service is just waist of time. Perhapse you should look into renting a printer. It is slightly more expensive but they are responsible for fixing and inks.

    • @00wheelie00
      @00wheelie00 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TeckDrivenTeck I noticed something in common with all HP printers that had this issue for me: they all had the paper at the bottom and a duplex unit. I never had an issue with printers that pull the paper down from the back of the printer. (Epson, canon even including HP ones with the family)
      I don't like the trend that everything becomes a subscription, I'm not going to encourage that by participating.
      What I have done is buy a seperate scanner like I used to have, until I had to get a new one because no Windows 8 drivers...
      That allowed me to buy the cheapest back loading printer I could find (turned out to be an epson). Now I don't care if there is a limited useful lifetime to the paper rollers, it's pricing makes it disposable.
      The biggest shock was that this 4 inks epson printer prints better photos than the 6 inks hp I threw out 😲

  • @totesMagotes83

    What is the problem exactly? Is it that the gear shifts around slightly while turning so it can't turn the other gears? I noticed it can turn them fine when it spins the other way, looks the same in your video.

    this video was great but I have a kodak hero 9.1 that is doing the same thing but I haven't been able to figure out why my printer roller is not picking up. I have noticed that all the repairs I've seen in videos show the wheel in the upper position but my roller sits on top of my papers from the beginning and makes that same noise but doesn't pick up the paper and then I get error message that jam paper when there isn't. any suggestions please? I've taken the printer apart and checked for dry ink, stuck caput none of those things are my issues. I barely used this printer. it may have 20 hours of use but I haven't used in about 5 to6 yrs. it's been covered and put away so I don't get it. I'll post a video on my channel so I can show everyone what's going on.

    • @TeckDrivenTeck
      @TeckDrivenTeck  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is the roller spinning when it is trying to pickup the paper? If it is try washing the roller with water and paper tommel or alcohol. The wheel should be slightly robbery, its possible that paper dust is on it or the rubber got stiff from sitting to long not being used

    • @GladysDelgadoGarced
      @GladysDelgadoGarced 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TeckDrivenTeck yes it was. I finally fix it. I noticed that on the paper tray there is a white wheel and a rubber around that wheel and I cleaned it with half distilled water and alcohol and I tried to print a test page and it worked! It only took me 4 days to figure this out but I'm grateful for all the videos that help me to figure out what was the problem. I just tried this and I am a bit confused. What exactly are we glueing? Are we glueing the gear so it no longer spins? Or just putting a chunk of glue behind the gear so it has more pressure on the other gears? Or am I completely wrong. Can anyone show a picture of where the glue is? The video didn't really show this. Thank you!!

    I have tried cleaning the rollers. Didn't help. It won't grab photo paper either. Sometimes when it does grab the paper, it either just rolls it straight through or grabs several sheets at once. If I try to print on both sides of the paper, when it sends it back through to print on the other side, paper gets jammed. Scanner and top paper feeder doesn't work either. I cannot copy.

    This is a bad design of the printer. The small plastic cog after so many printings gets stripped. I tried super glue and it lasted for a short time. I finally cut a hole on the bottom and inverted the printer. Then I used JB weld on both sides of the cog. It lasted many months but it now has broken free again.

  • @doncaruana

    Sadly, this fix has not worked well for me. JB Weld and then e3000 when the first one broke again neither lasted more than about 20 pages. I think I'm going to have to junk the printer.
