As a female who made it out of law enforcement... I get this guy. I've seen the most malicious and evil people, and they were not the guys on the street... they were the ones in charge of me. It's why I left and never looked back.

My Dad served in the USAF from 1972-1992. He consistently worked for NORAD up until the last 4-years of his service.
We were moved to the Las Vegas Valley, as my Dad reenlisted and accepted a new post at a duty station off-base near Las Vegas, NV. It was either move to Vegas or move to Italy; and Mom made it clear she didn't want to move the house across the ocean, not again.
I remember Dad's first day of work. It was the first time us kids saw him go to work in dress casual civies. No more fatigues, no more dress blues...just pressed khaki slacks and a navy blue dress shirt. It wasn't the only change; he used to come home and tell us all about his job at the NORAD building on base. After taking this assignment near Las Vegas, he could no longer talk about his job. Even his personality changed, drastically. He became extremely short-tempered and mean, argumentative and authoritarian. He was often gone for 3 days at a time, and couldn't tell us where he was. I just know he was bussed from Nellis AFB to McCarran International Airport where he boarded a windowless plane (white with a red stripe down the side), and was flown to his place of work. He wouldn't have known how to get there by car, that's how hush-hush the route was.
Later in life, maybe 10-12 years ago the base where he worked and the Red Eagles project were declassified. Basically, 20 or so years after he retired in 92. To his dying day he still couldn't talk about anything else he worked on there; but it haunted him and he was often very paranoid, especially when he was left alone.
After the base was declassified, he finally told me he worked at "Area 51" but the USAF doesn't call it that. He didn't tell me about the Red Eagles project he worked on until after a book was published about it. Even then, he didn't say much about it. We knew better than to ask, but his mother insisted he tell her. She was relentless and it forced them to grow apart.
That job changed my Dad so drastically, he became a stranger to us. As a lifelong Christian man, the things he saw at his job did a number on his faith. He changed so much, and the amount of stress he was under was insupportable. He supervised a department of 350 people, that's all he would tell me beyond the declassified details. I will never know what my Dad did during those four years. I'll never know what about it changed him for the absolute worst.
I'm very fascinated to hear this man's story. I don't know if he and my Dad worked together, but it's going to put a lot of things to rest for me, I hope.

I spent 21.5 years in the Air Force working in Satcom.
He reminds me a lot of the guys who were the coffee pot monitors!
My first NCOIC at my first base, Langley afb, claims he worked at area 51 for one day.
He said he got on a plane with no windows at Nellis afb and was flown to Area 51.
He said where he went was a big hangar and there were a bunch of people working on different projects. Everyone could see what everyone else was working on but they couldn’t talk to each other about their work.
He was escorted to the piece of equipment he needed to repair and then escorted back to the plane!
That was it for his Area 51 story!

My father retired from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant. I was 9 and didn't think anything of it. It wasn't until many years later when we brought two basic trainees home for a program the military had, and at Thanksgiving you take 2 per family for them to have a home cooked dinner. We were talking, and I told them that my father (seated at the head of the table, one trainee on each side) had been in the Air Force. When they asked him what rank he retired, and he said Chief Master Sergeant they both turned pale and were very nervous as if they were supposed to do something but didn't know what. It wasn't til after that I found out it was a big deal. That, and he never mentioned he was awarded the Bronze Star in Vietnam. He never talked about any of the three wars he was in.

You are not stupid. Everyone, no matter their education, knows far less than the total of information, of reality.
You are actually quite wise, because unlike many super educated or super wealthy, you know that you don’t know everything. And you know that you cannot know everything.
      That’s true wisdom. ❤

You're definitely not stupid, but you are a reminder that the majority of people who have an IQ of 100 or less has a conscience and cares about fellow human beings. You understand power dynamics and how those in power willfully exploit those with less power. That's a human condition that doesn't require a hell of a lot of intelligence. I don't know my IQ, but it's safe to say I'd qualify for Densa rather than Mensa. But point being is it doesn't matter. Lots of really smart people have created these conditions. Maybe it's time for the Densa's to have a say or two.

@Eman-vp5wk Romans 3:20-22 (KJV) Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
      But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
Luke 24:44-49 (KJV) And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
And ye are witnesses of these things.
And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
John 15:26 (KJV) But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
John 16:13-14 (KJV) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

I will not say his entire story is necessarily false, but there are parts of it that are... ...not so accurate.
Won't say how or why I say so, but some of us who comment were in those fields in the AF with very very high clearances in those days, and there is a LOT of misinformation about what was being done.

But PTSD can give you nervousness like that - where you are normally a calm person but you're not now especially when you have to talk about what gave you the PTSD. And you may find you dance around it instead of saying it like you had intended to as well.
