Pogchamps tournament exposes a lot of new people into chess, and many stick around and watch other funny videos which addicts some of the players who played in childhood only like me and then after playing a few games of online chess, next thing you know, you are singing Baka mitai and replying "Google en passant" and "Holy hell" in r/AnarchyChess - true story btw :P
I think the biggest thing is that a more experienced player might have been able to stabilize better after making a mistake. I honestly expected him to play a lot worse against Ludwig after seeing his session with Hikaru. He clearly practiced a lot since then.

Mr Beast was dreadful against Hikaru and he's still pretty bad here. He straight up blundered his queen in one move. The fact he got in good positions to begin with shows how powerful opening prep can be for weak players.

Bruh you inspired me talking about the Scandinavian earlier and I used it to beat an elo 1526 cpu no help no cheats. Did take a break in between though. It was the first time I ever felt on fire to play a game of chess. Anyways thanks I'm learning so much from you guys. I'm like a little sponge. Lol.
No Grünfeld, no Nimzowitsch, No Kalashnikov Sicilian... It's so refreshing and educational to have openings a low elo player can play without remembering like 20 moves of theroy. Keep it up. These are all amazing.

I agree. I honestly didn't realize ludwig had improved this much. He is getting good at tactics and thinking multiple moves ahead and noticing threats before they are there. He just needs to work on his positional game and i think he can win the whole thing.

Everyone who is hating on pog champs or that levy is reviewing them watch this one it is the perfect example of solid well playied chess but also small mistacks or other leasons that can be learned for the 80% of use under 2000 and essentially for those under 900 that can understand these strategies better compared to a complex 8 move chain from a super gm
MrBeast had a great position during the middle game but made a few decisive moves that took the pressure off of ludwigs castled king. Very well played by both sides though throughout all games.

You know why I love these videos? These aren’t GMs. There people ranked around the majority of players, still having beautiful games. And they make sense to 1000 ranked players too. Not all this weird positional shut in games between gms, but sting attacks and brilliant defences. Keep up the good content Gotham, and long live PogChamps!

One thing I'm doing that has quite helped me is neutralizing the Knights if they come out early, then trade bishops and be up the exchange, creating piece imbalance is a huge advantage, then just play a solid attack. Also trade queens if the position looks better for me
Day 45: Of requesting Levy to cover opposite coloured bishop endgames. Especially when you have a slight material advantage of being up by two or three pawns against your opponent and you both have opposite coloured bishops as well.

to your question about ludwigs bishop move, it was a bit of both, he moved it... then saw he blundered the pawn, then realized it activated his rook and was okay with it, so when he originally played it, he had no idea, but he did see the upsides before the next move

I enjoy these recaps as much as the GM recaps. GM recaps teach me to apreciate insanely accurate play, eventhough it's way way above my rating level. These POG champs recaps are more my level, so I identify with these players and it's almost like Levy is recapping my games. Very instructive and a lot of fun.

Nah man he is riding the wave of popularity and growth. If he's having fun and doesn't feel burnt he can keep going. As long as he doesnt feel like quality isn't down and he still enjoys it he can make as much content as he wants (no pressure either way tho)

Ludwig totally blundered that pawn, it took him about a minute and a half to realize and when he did he just shrugged and said "Eh, whatever."
Mr. Beast played surprisingly well, I think one bad move and the rest was just insane, especially for a new player

He will likely do pretty well in the test of the tournament. The group setup makes it so that they get the hardest matchups first.
