That’s was my dream to ride the Cape Epic 10 years ago. I thought I was too old to ride, but seeing many riders who look like they are in their 60’s gives me hope of one day participating in this epic race. If I had a chance to ride it though I’d opt for loose riding shorts with the Lycra underneath for support. The Lycra riding shorts alone don’t provide enough protection on falls.
Thank you for an epic video on an Epic race! Your focus on ordinary riders and the behind the scenes footage was so good. This video needs more exposure for sure.
Thank you for your feedback LDWR. It’s great to hear you enjoyed the focus on the amateur riders. If you know others who’d be interested, feel free to share-I’d love for more people to experience these moments from the race
The algorithm found this video for me and so glad it did. Awesome film showcasing an event I knew nothing about. Fantastic stuff. Liked and subscribed.
Thank you for this very inspirational work Wouter. I watched every stage of the Epic here in Australia from the comfort of my lounge chair. The heart and soul of an event like the Cape Epic is the amateur riders, volunteers and everyone behind the scenes. I could only dream of entering this event. I love mountain biking and ride my bike as often as I can. Thank you for this fantastic work. You should be proud of this mate.
Thank you Jeremy for your kind words, especially as a fellow mountain biking enthusiast. Would love to see and meet more Australian amateur riders at the Cape Epic in future years. This year there were 9 riders from Australia
So many emotions and memories! Well done for capturing this, Wouter. Good of you to share these stories from the riders at the back. Rich...one of the Hyenas.
Thank you Richard. Appreciate your feedback. It was inspiring to witness you and Matthew in action at the back of the pack. Stage 4 stands out as a prime example, particularly at the foot of the Cliff Hanger, where the challenge seemed too much in the heat of the day. Your encouragement made all the difference, motivating them to push through. The value that you and Matthew, as the 'Hyenas,' bring to the backmarkers is undeniable.
Absolutely fantastic. Well edited video and so nice that the story of the non-elite are also told. Hope this happens more often with other sport as well. Well done Wouter. Wouter.
Thank you Francois for your appreciation for the film. The pro riders give this event the prestige it deserves. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to share the stories of some of the amateur riders who are equally integral to the event's spirit

Thank you for showing the back markers. You are also a legend for getting these shots
Great vid, so much more interesting to see the amateur side of the race experience
This is great! good to see the actually trails that they don't show on TV. They should televise the amateur riders as well

Thank you so much, Greg! I feel honored. The Cape Epic is truly something special, and I'm glad I could bring the experience to life for you
