Reba is all pure Okie!! She sings just like she talks!! We Okies hear it all the time!! Beautiful job!!!
That performance marks her singing the national anthem for 50 years
insane!
Great reaction. Reba is 68 years old. The lady has still got some pipes on her, and the areas that you picked up on are all in true Reba fashion. It's something that you hear, and you know it's Reba.
that she definitely does!! She delivered a great performance :)
Love Reba! You have a good perspective!
She’s got a hell of a voice
Please react Reba singing Fancy ❤
Enjoyed your reaction a lot! I will say, having watched a lot of Reba singing live, this is one of the only times I've heard her be pitchy. Would love to see more Reba reactions!!! (Fancy, Forever Love, The Heart Won't Lie, You Lie, etc)
Reba said she was SOOOOOO nervous---which is not Reba's style, either!!! I think, possibly, the problem was that she got wind of people literally betting on her, to mess-up. They said she has previously sung the anthem, too fast---like, she "has a car, double-parked, and needs to catch a plane"; so, she took heed, and slowed it down. She probably never had anyone tell her, before, how they felt about the way she sang it; so....
Being nervous, and thus, pitchy, is totally understandable---at least, she managed "the Reba belt", there at the end; God love 'er!!!
@@catwhisperer9489 that makes sense. I still loved it! She is always great ❤️

I love your hoodie and your videos.
I liked Reba’s performance, although I’ve never been very comfortable with the showier parts some Anthem productions. My ear isn’t trained or otherwise good enough to pick up the details you hear, so can’t really comment on that.
Have you heard Chris Stapleton’s rendition at last year’s Super Bowl? If not you might want to give it a listen and analyze it. I liked it. You might find it interesting. Side note, Chris suffers from stage fright to the extent he often has his wife, Morgane, on stage to give him courage. You can see that in his Austin City Limits performance of “Tennessee Whiskey”.

(Edit, correct spelling for Morgane)
oh awesome! I'll have to check it out!
Reba’s Mom, who coached the kids to sing harmony, also insisted their enunciation was clear thus her emphasis and manipulation of vowels. She is 69. She is also described as a contralto thus lower key.
What did you think of Reba's Performance? x Lara
Well, I agree with everything you said. Reba said she was extremely nervous---which is SOOOOO unlike her, to be nervous (she's been singing the anthem, for 50 years; that's how she got discovered); but, she found-out that people were betting on her, to mess-up---they said she previously sang it too fast, like she "had a car double-parked, and was runnin' to catch a plane".
Anyway, the reason she pronounces words, differently, is because she's a Country singer (it didn't seem clear, that you knew that), and has a WICKED twang (she's from Oklahoma).
You said you'd like to check more of her, out, so I picked this video because her twang is very pronounced....

Her 1997 version is way better than this one in my opinion
