To anyone missing the double time - he just said in an IG story that this album won’t necessarily have as much double time we are all used to. He said now wasn’t the time to be making music for people to get live to in clubs, and he wanted to make music that fits the times. He also said that he still has plenty of stuff planned for when the world is ready for his double time, though. As a big OW fan, it’s obviously a little sad to not see him hit full speed, but I’m really excited for him to get to show off his versatility. You don’t become the best in the game as a one trick pony. Real ones know his well-rounded ability, but it sounds like this album might be the world’s turn to learn.
I'm just saddened by the fact his new stuff is more associated with his materialistic environment as he gets more successful as opposed to his fundamentals which was his emotion based shit. Big ups to him, I've been listening to him for years now but I listened to him because he wasn't all about that money and it disheartens me when I hear shit like this.
Meanwhile, he's also earning some new fans who found his double time raps boring. I ain't hating, I've always respected his skills, even if they're not to my taste, but I'm drastically preferring his new stuff.
Let him do what he's gonna do. This isn't particularly my vibe but neither was his soapbox freestyles back in the day. He'll keep growing and along the way we'll find tracks that slap for us and tracks that don't.
