You should have kept walking west to Riverside park. I call it the suburbs of Manhattan because no one knows it exists, but it’s absolutely beautiful and has of some of the most expensive and exclusive pre-war mansions and condos in the entire city. The UWS in general is very affluent but the residents are surprisingly chill and friendly.
I've explored it more since moving back to New York City. I've actually explored so many neighborhoods since being back I'm less scared to travel outside my block I didn't realize how stuck I was until I left.
I used to love buying bagels at H&H (before it closed) Lox and cream cheese from zabar's and assemble it all on the great lawn. Now we have to settle for zabar bagels. I really enjoy the quality of life on the UWS relative to other Manhattan neighborhoods. It's nice to see it through someone else's eyes!
Your descriptions are on point. From age demo to "cleanliness "...Everyone ultimately likes a nice clean quiet street to come home to. The hustle and bustle r a cab ride away.
I used to love going to haunted areas but after being spooked and feeling haunted after visiting places like them I have decided to not go near them to protect my energy

Graffiti is definitely distracting and wears You down mentally when it's a constant occurrence- not a fan myself unless it's like a mural that fills an entire wall inside a building that is professionally done.

It’s so peaceful! Yeah their bagels aren’t like the best in the city. I just stocked up on some Brooklyn bagel and am about to cut one open
