First Zelda game I played (1993). 17 years later, sold everything I had, moved to another continent. First weekend in my new country, went to a flee market and I bought a GB color with this game inside for 10 Euro. I had no money, and this was my only gaming device back then. And today, I'm about to open the Collector's Edition I just got. Today, it's a good day.

The original '93 version of Links Awakening is proof that even on limited hardware a game can be as perfectly fleshed out as it's home console counterparts. It was a phenomenal effort and i think it is THE quintessential game for the original gameboy. The DX version perfected it with color and a bit added in features. Question if you don't mind. I heard that Nintendo isn't well marketed in Poland and that not a lot of people play Nintendo games there. Is that true and are most gamers Microsoft/Sony players in Poland?
Mr. Ditkovich In general this generalization is true - nintendo as more expensive system used to be chosen much more rarely than systems of sony and microsoft. However switch is pretty available and if you know good game shops there is no problem. Of course the selection of games is much better in Germany but good shops (there are at least two in my city Kraków) can import lots of stuff and are making preorders with bonuses and midnight releases. There is also pretty vibrant facebook group of nintendo fans in Poland.

Oh my god this is awesome! At first I was like this new format looks so cool, just like G4TV’s Judgement Day. Then I realized it was Victor from TechTV. Wow!!!
There is so much "classic" Zelda I still have yet to play...Link's Awakening, the Minish Cap and the 2 Oracle games. After I play through the remake of LA I want to play through the original DX GBC version, and then someday hopefully play through the other 3 classic style Zelda games. I don't know why I've never gotten around to playing them...I've always adored the Zelda series, ever since the very first time I ever played the original Legend of Zelda after my brother left me his NES Christmas of 88/89. That Christmas vacation changed me world as a gamer forever. I went from the Atari 2600 from 1983 all the way up to Christmas 1988 and then my older brother came to visit for the holidays while in the Navy, and he brought his NES with Super Mario Bros (which I had already played numerous times), Duck Hunt, Zelda, Golf, Karate Champ and RC ProAm. What a fantastic Christmas that turned out to be.
I remembered in DX Link's Awakening it doesnt have the traditional zelda themed within game but when you start the game and put down the name "Zelda" as your name it'll play the theme in the game...
I loved Link Between Worlds but I wish A Link to the Past would get an actual dedicated remake. Everything else got re-released so far except the first 3. I am hoping since next year is Zelda 35 they could do an All Stars like package. If they could to LttP like this that would be Awesome. I am sure I will get this one eventually and can't wait until the BotW sequel comes.
It took me a week to beat it and a bunch of trail and error beating it,graphics are cool something new except the 30fps drop in new areas and the screen edge blur for that tilt shift look, all in all worth the money for the remake!! Brings back memories
I feel like people make too much of what this game actually is. It’s not as weird or as experimental as many people like to suggest it is. It was of an era where there was less precedent for what Zelda is. It really wasn’t until ocarina of time that Nintendo just kept making the same game over and over again and calling in different titles. In my opinion after Ocarina but before breath of the wild is all just one game.
Interesting fact: the Game Boy ran on the same Z80 processor that Texas Instruments graphing calculators ran on (and still run on, I'd imagine). So this game was essentially designed around a graphing calculator, despite its design being way ahead of its time, and it holds up today on modern hardware.
Would be awesome if instead of remaking a classic like A Link to the Past Nintendo remake more of the handheld Zeldas, like the Oracle games and The Minish Cap
I remember playing it on the Gameboy and not being able to figure out that you had to kill those three enemies in a particular order... got me so frustrated. 🤪
The fact you can start in Hero Mode makes me actually kind of want this now. They must have considered how a lot of people have essentially already beaten this game and so a normal playthrough might not be engaging enough.

I'm sure people will say 'Oh it's only 20 dollars more, who cares' but I am not rich and live in one of the most expensive cities on Earth (no regrets, but it's the price you pay), so I need to watch my wallet this November and March with all the huge releases. Death Stranding, Cyberpunk, Zelda, Outer Worlds and a ton more...Oh God, help.
I think the story about the creation of the game is more interesting. The fact workers at Nintendo made this for free on their spare time and it kept catching on until they got approval from Nintendo

One hour in this game now, love it.. the length is really depends on how you play, if you play this game before, then of course you will beat it around 10-12 hours, but if you have never play this before, you can play around 15-20 hours, which is not too bad.
