When a dog whines in their sleep it doesn't necessarily mean they're having a nightmare. It just means they're having a really vivid dream. A nice scratch behind the ear is always a good way to make them happy either way. ☺️

That’s the sweetest thing. The puppy thought it’s older friend was having a bad dream and was scared. The way it got up and checked on it, then curled up near the older dog’s neck was precious. It was like the puppy was trying to protect the older dog.
God damnit i miss my golden 😭 he died when he was 16 and i turned 18. had him my entire childhold. He was like my brother i never had. He trusted me, suporded me. Took care of me when i feelt allone or hurt. Now i am soon 29 and i wish him back to earth

Whoever developed this particular breed out of wolves created such lovely characters. I've never met a mean Golden Retriever.
Golden retrievers were created by a Scottish politician called Sir Dudley Marjoribanks (which is simply an amazing name) who set out in the 1860s to create the perfect retriever, and essentially all golden retrievers descend from a flat-coated retriever called Nous and a tweed water spaniel named Belle.
LOL..my wife was bitten by a GR therapy dog. We’ve owned large dogs for decades so we know what a freak accident it was. It happens. But the GR is the ultimate family pet dog.

I know i'm late. Dogs understand. I was in my cousin's house and her dog was sitting besides us, after a stressful phone call (i'm edgy in general), my leg was shaking and the dog did the same thing. It stopped instantly !
My Golden does the same thing to me. He can sense changes in my voice or posture when I'm upset or stressed. He will come over instantly and "woo", wag his tail and put his paw on me. These are truly golden dogs. Of all the breeds of dogs I've had in my life, I've never had one as directly caring and happy as my golden.
That's why war veterans get a dog. It helps with PTSD.

Ive been fortunate to have had five Goldens in my life....They are simply the easiest dog to train and most loving dog on the planet. I miss them all dearly.
A Golden was, and technically still is my dream dog. But I was only 7 or 8 yrs old when my parents got me my first dog. I didn't really have a say in what breed... so they got me a grumpy little Chihuahua. I named her Muffin and she has been my friend for 16 years so far. She's old, slowing down, growing lumps, but still PERFECT. Wouldn't trade my Muff for any other dog in the world :D

It's not unique but there is no doubt that Goldens have it in spades.And the old dog does not know it is being video taped and would not care if it did know.
I have a golden who is exactly as you describe. Any harshness of tone, NEVER EVEN directed at her or about her, will still bring her into the room withe her ears flattened, tail curled under and head down. She is very sensitive to any hint of unhappiness from my husband or myself. Even if hubby yells at the TV during a football game, she will come and sit by me.

This is so heartwarming! Mine always sneaked into my bed, cuddling himself on my back, when he couldn´t sleep. Always trying not to wake me up. He still does it from time to time these days,
except that sucker is 82cm now and weights about 75kg. Needless to say that ain´t working too well anymore. :P

I broke my leg in the bathroom years ago and now EVERY TIME I go to the br my cat is my bodyguard
@@aya9af years ago i got hurt at work and was hospitalized for 14 weeks. When i came home i didn't smell like me and my cat was not happy. She didn't like strangers to start with and i was basically a stranger to her. She checked me out all over, several times.
Even to the point where I'm getting my 1st shower but i had to use a shower seat and she came in the bathroom and got on my lap for a complete body check.
After the shower and change of clothes she recognized me and was all over me. As far as getting in the shower and getting wet, she loved water. She got regular baths and the problem was keeping her from under the faucet so we could soap her up. After that she'd walk under the faucet herself.

When my FCR did this in her sleep, I believed she was having wonderful dreams of chasing and running with the bunnies. She’d often wake up while lying on my lap or her loveseat, lift her head and look at me, I’d give her a kiss on the nose, and then she’d happily get back to it. Now I know she’s actually doing it in heaven. ❤

The dog isn't necessarily having a nightmare, that's just how they react to a "strong" dream. He could be chasing rabbits on the field as far as we know. Cute video still.
