Hey guys! Just a reminder that this is a re-upload from my time on The Game Theorist channel! Originally uploaded on November 29th, 2016, before Breath Of The Wild had released!
I said it when this was first uploaded, and I'll say it again. Link's Awakening, The Oracle Games, Four Swords and Four Swords Adventure, The Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, A Link Between Worlds, and Triforce Heroes are NOT spin offs. They're main series games, as proven by the timeline.
That they are canon doesn't mean they are not spin offs and many of them seem to go back to ckassic gameplay and graphics... they are great games but they are very possibly spin offs though i am not an expert so i could be wrong is difficult to differenciate spin offs and main stream games sometimes.👍👍👍👍
Sam I don’t know all the proper terms and nuances but I think they are still spinoffs, even though they are included in the canon story. The only one true Ku outside is hyrule wariors
Even though I watched this way back when it was uploaded on The Game Theorists, I watched it again because I'd like to support the channel, I enjoy the ABHs.
5:17 I actually think that this kind of ideal practice for sequels or even threequels is actually pretty fair and nice! Sometimes if you feel like you can’t exactly One-Up a successful sequel or second installment it’s okay to announce that you’re going in a much more experimental and vibrant direction in which you want to go. Sometimes sequels don’t have to be constantly bigger and better.
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!! LINK HIS NAME IS LINK PISS OFF FUCK YOU AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Deja vu I've just been in this place before Higher on the street And I know it's my time to go Calling you, and the search is a mystery Standing on my feet It's so hard when I try to be me, woah Deja vu I've just been in this time before Higher on the beat And I know it's a place to go Calling you and the search is a mystery Standing on my feet It's so hard when I try to be me, yeah
No. Hyrule Warriors, Link's Crossbow Training, and the Tingle games are spinoffs. Link's Awakening, The Oracles, Four Swords/Adventures, Minish Cap, The DS Zeldas, and ALBW are all mainline Zeldas.
@Duck Quaq actually id say that phantom hourglass is pretty good... but maybe im just saying that bc it was my first... still, loving a game s]despite its flaws is truly loving it.
12:50 l LOVE the fact that you mentioned “Oceanhorn” as a look a like of The Legend of Zelda and not just a rip off because Oceanhorn has a way different mechanics and a cool story of it’s own..thank you for that
I may have heard all of this stuff before multiple MULTIPLE times because I Love these games to death. I'm still glad you made a video on it Rider :3 ILY
This was trippy because I watched this on my console and didn't realize it was a reupload at first. PBG said it was the end of the month and talked about doing a lot of Zelda stuff which was weird since I knew he was skipping it this year. Then they talked about BOTW as though they had no idea what it was really about. That's really when I realized it was a reupload. Tripped me tf out at first tho
Oh ok sorry I thought you faked pbg being there cause he said he's done Zelda videos for almost a month. And he's been doing Mario month and it's the 12th
The Legend of Zelda is the greatest game series ever made. Twilight Princess, the Wind Waker, and Breath of the Wild are my favorites and absolutely blew my mind when I first played each of them.
i remember clearly my first time i ever played a Zelda game. It was Phantom Hourglass when it first came out. I absolutely loved the game! I would not put it down, i took my DS wherever i went to play it. I think it was exploration and side quests Formula that pulled me in. And to this day, i still keep re-running the game 100%! II truly think that Phantom Gourglass is the best Zelda game ever made.
There actually was an episode of Arthur where he was the only one who could pull a sword out of a rock at a tourist attraction. Season three episode nine
Oh right! This does indeed seem familiar, but I see it's a re-upload. Question; why do you call the handhelds spin-offs? If they follow the same story directly and is canon... and follow the same gameplay for the most part... Is it really a spin-off? Triforce Heroes is a spin-off, I think, but not Minish Cap or the DS games
keep forgetting that your re-uploading for a minute this was a new video and was kind of shocked that you did a new Zelda video so soon but no all is well I don't mind rewatching this it is one of my favorites
I have a random memory from when I was little involving A Link to the Past. I walked into the basement in my house, to find my dad playing what I know recognize as the legend of Zelda. He was escorting a girl through the dungeon, when she suddenly turned into a hideous monster. Since I was like, five, I was completely horrified, and ran out of the room. I might have even gotten a few nightmares from the “horrific” scene
Minish cap was underrated- it was my first Zelda game (which might make my opinion a bit biased), and cap come did a great job with it. Any Zelda fans who haven't played it, I highly recommend it.
Before you asked, all of Brief History videos were removed on Game Theorist's channel. Sooo, you won't see them anymore like Trailer Drake's Smash History.
Weren't Mario and Zelda developed more or less simultaneously, with the split in linear/open decisions guiding which features would go in which game? I'm pretty sure I've seen that several times.
no no no NO! The Minish Cap was NOT a spin-off! It's arguably my favorite top-down Zelda game! How dare you! (Yet I still love the good content, keep it up)
I don’t think majora is necessarily dark and mature, it feels more dark in a creepy and disturbing sense, twilight princess feels more mature (not just because of the rating) And I love symphony of the goddesses
I own the first zelda game and the second. My dad had drawn the full map of the first game that showed where all the items were and all the stores and the prices of each item at the store. He also showed where all the hidden places are.
I know this was a re-upload.. but it would been great if they added a few more minutes talking about how successful BOTW was... I mean... its been months and it would've been just a little more work.
Why do you keep referring to the handheld games as “Spin-Offs?” CD-i, Tingle, Hyrule Warriors; those things are spin-offs. LA, OofA/S, MC, LBW, PH and ST are all canon.
Omg I remember that my older brother was really hyped about the legend of Zelda Twilight Princess when he got it. Me as a 6 year old was hyped about everything what my brothers did so I watched them playing it. (It was always like this, I enjoyed watching them playing then playing myself ‘cause I always end up running away from the easiest monsters) and I still remember that I found it really cool that Link could turn into a wolf and I found that ‘thing’ giving you information really annoying ‘cause it took time(yeah I know I was stupid, I was a little kid) but yeah. I prefer the wolf game over the newer one where link was flying on birds (I also remember clearly watching my brother playing that) and I found the zelda in the ‘bird game’ really ugly for some reason😂
Hey guys! Just a reminder that this is a re-upload from my time on The Game Theorist channel! Originally uploaded on November 29th, 2016, before Breath Of The Wild had released!
FootofaFerret that explains alot
You should really pin this dude.
FootofaFerret yep that makes more sense
FootofaFerret that explains why you guys didn't describe how well it sold😂😅
You liked your own comment
I said it when this was first uploaded, and I'll say it again. Links Awakening was so good tho 💕

I want to see a brief history of Arthur now
Even though I watched this way back when it was uploaded on The Game Theorists, I watched it again because I'd like to support the channel, I enjoy the ABHs.
I FREAKING LOVE ARTHUR!
SAID MOM
*Tongue acrobatics* ARTHER MEMES

Everyone this is a re-uploaded version of the video from the game theory channel, because none of you could actually check the description

:-D
why are these guys acting like the handheld games aren't full blown games and are just spin offs?
mehdigeek but most of em are spin offs
nah, nearly all of em are direct sequels and only like 3 of em dont share the same gameplay
All are on the official timeline, but the ds era really let the handhelds down (link between worlds really picked the handheld series though)

Conor B it’s because it’s a reuploaded video from Game Theory
Yeah
Apparently nobody can read the first line of the description:
Originally uploaded to The Game Theorists channel on November 29th, 2016
Do people not realize when a comment is purposefully oblivious
Am I the only one who wants the background music to be officially released? Seriously, I love it.
Why did GT delete all your vids? I get you left, but why not at least keep the goodbye video
Matt Pat might be salty idk.
I dunno why but this brief history and sonic’s brief history really motivate me!
Take a breath of the wild
ToxicDeath999 this is a re upload from last Zelda month

@@MemoryAEBDC still initially released in 1986

Dang it pbg!! We just settled after nostalgia critic blew up the world for his love for Christmas
Toon link is the better in my opinion but until the new game which now is not as new
Dude I was binging these episodes and I look and this comes up. YES

Isaac Foshay Yes, but from the game theorists channel.
I loved the Minish Cap, the shrinking was such a fun mechanic
Mmm yes anime link furry link and cross dresser link in one game
There are many amazing games and game series that exist today, but out of all those games only one series....is a legend.
I like Ferrets.
keep forgetting that your re-uploading for a minute this was a new video and was kind of shocked that you did a new Zelda video so soon but no all is well I don't mind rewatching this it is one of my favorites

Minish cap was underrated- it was my first Zelda game (which might make my opinion a bit biased), and cap come did a great job with it. Any Zelda fans who haven't played it, I highly recommend it.
I like the " it aint no kings quest" frase .

This was an AWESOME video! Nice job guys!
Before you asked, all of Brief History videos were removed on Game Theorist's channel. Sooo, you won't see them anymore like Trailer Drake's Smash History.
I find it funny that as he said in the video, this was actually the video that did Peanut Butter Gamer in on Zelda Month.
Weren't Mario and Zelda developed more or less simultaneously, with the split in linear/open decisions guiding which features would go in which game?
I'm pretty sure I've seen that several times.
Sweet video man!
0:47 and thus the best moment in a brief history was born...
no no no NO! The Minish Cap was NOT a spin-off! It's arguably my favorite top-down Zelda game! How dare you! (Yet I still love the good content, keep it up)
I really don't think of the handheld top-down Zeldas as spin-offs.
They're not
I don’t think majora is necessarily dark and mature, it feels more dark in a creepy and disturbing sense, twilight princess feels more mature (not just because of the rating)
And I love symphony of the goddesses
You cannot just show tingles rosy rupee land and not explained it’s grand majesty to everyone
I own the first zelda game and the second. My dad had drawn the full map of the first game that showed where all the items were and all the stores and the prices of each item at the store. He also showed where all the hidden places are.
Wind Waker was released on March 24, 2003.

Why do you keep referring to the handheld games as “Spin-Offs?” CD-i, Tingle, Hyrule Warriors; those things are spin-offs. LA, OofA/S, MC, LBW, PH and ST are all canon.
