    Former Dreams hobbyist who quickly ran away from Unity in September after dabbling there this year. I've been making inroads with Godot and now start to tackle the intermediate stuff. Godot's future is so bright and people making amazing add-on's for us to use are fantastic. Can't wait to dive into these and other tools I've recently discovered. And yes, UI is also on the list of things to tackle for me, so keep those videos coming!

    As a new Godot developer (coming from 7+ years in Unity), I must say your videos have provided so much help at estabilishing a comforting environment here. And because I am porting a whole project over, my time to investigate the addons is limited, so these videos help with filtering out the best ones for the job. It would be even better if you could be making the videos for UI addons! Either way, keep up the good job and thank you!! You're amazing

    Since you released this video, Box2D developers have migrated to Rapier2D, which also has a 3D engine. Looking for comparisons, I found that Rapier3D has a better performance than Jolt Physics and is preferable for multiplaying due to its deterministic behaviour.

    The situation with Godot's physics is one of the pitfalls of Open source development I dislike. You can have more than one group of people out there working on basically the same thing separately in their own little corner for no reason; which almost feels like wasted development and inefficiency. Like the Godot devs deciding to write their own physics for Godot 4.... then they suck...and then now they will work to replace them down the road AGAIN with these community solutions. It's all messy.

    • @Deliveredmean42
      @Deliveredmean42 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But sometimes, there is a reason to this. Especially if folks have different ideas on how a feature should work, which is also why there is so many Linux Distros because people want it to be so personalized to their liking... Altho sometimes folks DO work together, but like anything it will take time to apply the results. Jolt and Box2D are great solutions, but we understand why Godot devs and maybe some contributors are messing around with making their own attempt (either because its taking a while for a needed update in Bullet, or something else in the blogs I forgotten a while ago).

    So strange that official devs can't get stuff right, but plugin makers can. Maybe they aren't getting paid enough, or their creative aptitude and skills are put into a vice by the director. It's the same between paid developers and modders in games. The modders always seem to provide competent content, and can solve problems devs claim is impossible.

    • @benjattkk
      @benjattkk ปีที่แล้ว +8

      This is completely false though. First of all, Godot is open source. There's no "director". Second, just like devs vs modders, there's a HUGE difference between making something unofficial and official. When making a plugin, you don't have to worry as much about it being compatible with every game out there, about it breaking compatability on a new update. Same with mods.

    • @sslaxx
      @sslaxx ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@benjattkk For some of them, such as the Jolt Physics add-on, there's some discussion going on about integrating them into Godot.
