    Nice work Charles. If you get any crap from the other non-wrench turning crew at RMC they need to zip it and see you have mad skills. IMO it´s way more important to be a capable mechanic than a flash in the pan hot dog rider who doesn't know how to change even fluids! :) You are the man!

    Thanks for the video series. It was a great visual reference alongside the repair manual when building my big bore engine. It's not shown in the video but I really hope you did up the bolts for the pulser/pick-up coil 23:31 and set it at the correct distance.
    Cheers 👍🏽

    "Very good explanatory video, I'm just starting to work on mechanics, and I'd like to understand the purpose or function of the two idler gears and the torque limiter.

    Hi Charles, why do you measure the axial clearances without a gasket installed between the casing halves?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The case halves don't take a gasket, the sealant is just to take up imperfections in the case half sealing surface and shouldn't make much of a difference. You can take a measurement with the sealant on to be sure. -Charles

    Do you have a bearing list of like what berring I need?

  • @ninemile143

    Well... this is the point I got to before I realised that the bearings held in by those washers have a CIRCLIP GROOVE in the outer race 🤦‍♂
    This is the 'N' designation in the 58/28 (actually a 62/28, 58/28 is the Inner / Outer diameters NOT the bearing code) and the 6004 bearings at one end of the countershaft / main gearbox shaft.
    I wasn't able to find anywhere in the UK stocking the KTM bearing parts (it's at least 2-3 weeks delivery from KTM and 20% more expensive for them to just put them in a little bag) so I pulled out all of the bearing designations from the parts finder and ordered from a bearing supplier instead, completely missing the 'N' designation on some of the bearings.
    At least it's the cheap ones with the circlip groove so I'm only about £20 out of pocket 😂
    For anyone else following along, don't make my mistake! If you go off piste and order from a bearing supplier, make sure you get these with a circlip groove 👍
