Great coverage, Coach! Glad we can be leading the charge, but also hoping this gives inspiration to those developing on other platforms to help DC20 be great wherever GMs and players like to play. Can't wait for the 9.0 content drop!!
For those unfamiliar with Foundry VTT, it's important to note that Foundry itself is not free. You don't need own it to play on a server, but at least one person (usually the GM) will need a license to host a server. The DC20 game system is available for free though!
Foundry has been my VTT for about a year. It is superior to the others. 😊 So hyped for 0.9 to drop so my group can play remotely! No pressure, Coach. 😂
Been too distracted with my 5e campaign to really check out the system despite backing it, but I'll definitely have to put more effort into learning it and running a one shot for my players! Already leagues ahead of the default 5e Foundry tools which has always been my main gripe of running in Foundry especially after seeing how streamlined the PF2e tools are. Amazing that you're working so closely with Foundry to bake things that would normally be left up to modules into the core features of the system. Looking forward to 0.9.
Hey Coach! Dropping by to say I've already got this installed and running, and me and my table are stoked to start playing on this in just a few hours from me posting this! We've got some homebrew ideas as well, and we're going to dig around through the guts of this thing to see if we can bend it to our will for customizations! Eagerly awaiting more updates on all fronts. Team is doing phenomenal work!
Thanks Coach! can you show how 3rd Party publishers can support DC20? How could we add things to Foundry or other VTTs? I'd love to keep making things for DC20 and putting them on whatever the best format for players is.
This is amazing!! I can’t wait to try this out and test everything! I haven’t used foundry yet but this looks like the most intuitive start for VTT maybe?
Foundry is the way! Best VTT IMO. That being said, it's probably the most complex VTT out there from the perspective of what you can do as a GM, so go into it expecting to learn. I would consider myself a 'high level' Foundry user and it takes me 4-9 hours of 1 on 1 with people to get them where I'm running the game (High automation, Fully animated, 100+ modules active)
I halfway agree with most complex. I haven't tried Fantasy Grounds personally but it looked more to be on par with Foundry from what I've seen. Also, Foundry just makes things work. Both myself (with Roll20 experience) and a couple of gms I have played with have stated how much easier it is to set adventures and stuff up in foundry than in Fantasy Grounds/Roll20. I do agree that it has a bit of a learning curve but otherwise it makes things so much easier.
Coach, have you heard any rumors of an app being developed for ppl outside of Foundry? Our group has moved away from Foundry (not knocking it, just not for us)
IMHO the symbol for an action point should be a D20 not a d6. Even in a physical session we use d20s as action points (given that we are waiting for the Kickstarter action trackers). It feels right and easy!
I respectfully disagree. D20s would more naturally fit (dis)advantage than action points. Particularly as the number used is so detached from your actions. You could easily roll several d20s for each action or spend several action points with a single d20 roll! I also never saw the action point symbol as a d6. I simply saw it as a cube, like the coloured wooden cubes common in many table top board games. YMMV (& clearly does!)
Nice as our group uses foundry while playing in person it's nice to see development is going well. I know you probably don't know yet but do you think DC20 will be completely out by early 2026 or maybe even late 2025? As that's around the time our 5e campaign will be done and I'd like to switch to DC20.
Probably not, since those rules for the base game itself aren't made yet. The Dungeon Coach is hard at work making levels 3-4 playable right now, and I can't see Baileywiki's team spending development time on an early homebrew system that will all need to be rewritten anyways. By the time the actual core rules are done and the game is released, then I am 100% confident there will be support for that.
Foundry has all the options that a game system has, it's really incredible. However dc20 itself doesn't have level 3 yet let alone 11-30 so there won't be anything there in Foundry
It's in the same place that the physical core rulebook is - still in development! Just because Foundry and Baileywiki's team is jumping the gun and working ahead, doesn't mean this is the only tool that'll ever exist. Don't forget, all that exists (publicly) right now is an early beta for the first TWO levels. I'd imagine that Coach is prioritizing finishing the fundamentals for what characters are before even beginning working on tools for us.

Just played it last night and it works great! Awesome job we loved it!!!

This is amazing! great job Baileywiki and team!!
All of our campaign content is on Roll20. I hope there will be a template there, too.
I'm in a CoS in DC20 campaign and we've been using Foundry for it. This already looks a lot cleaner from the version we've been using. Loving it!
It works SOOOO well in foundry. Added a few Plugins to have damage shown / 1 click in chat. Makes the gameplay so fast. Keep this up, its awesome.
So excited to play DC20 on Foundry!!!

For foundry you can create modules and adventures in the VTT itself. I’m working on a monster expansion right now
been using it for a few months now it is great so far
Congrats! Huge step forward
This is why I love Foundry. This is why I won't back any TTRPGs that don't have Foundry support anymore.
Yeah, for a game as mechanically complicated as DC20, Foundry is going to be a must...
This is so amazing, im excited to play around.

Lol. I was just talking a few days ago how I was waiting for DC20 to get set up on foundry. After I finish my current game I'll have to check it out.

Congrats ! I think it is a big deal that this new system in on Foundry VTT, making it a more real contender!
It looks fantastic
DC20🎉 🙂👍🏻
I’m interested in seeing how DC Crit takes off as having something akin to DnD beyond for IOS would help a lot
Algorithm Penguin 💜🐧💜🐲💜🐧💜
Did they ever make the vid on modular resources? I couldn't find it amongst videos hawking products

So cool
I'll have to check when I get home. But can anyone confirm if the novice/level 0 build is in the foundry module already?
What ever happened to the character creator tool early backers were supposed to get?

@noahtekulve2684 that not what he said. He said he'd seen the tool and it was weeks out. This was like 3 live streams ago or more.
Second first?
first again
Not that exited by the character sheet. Looks sooooo cluttered compared to the pdf sheet. 🫤
