I store all my old ephemera postcards, photos, letter etc... in binders. I used to use the boxes, but it's much easier to inventory and store in binders. There is literally pages out there that fit anything. And great space! I'm in a garage. I Envy you! lol
I bought the eBay mailers and the worker at my post office told me I couldn't use them because they don't bend. I am glad to see you have no problem with them. I started putting them in a small bubble mailer for my higher price items.
I have the same problem at my post office with those envelopes, however, it is for when I have multiple cards and use USPS ground advantage. They say they have to be thicker to be considered a package for tracking. So now I have used small boxes instead. I know other people have not had issues using the envelopes, so I thought it was only my post office. I just use the ecoswift or boxes for now. If anyone has any ideas on how to use the flat ebay envelopes to get around this, please post below
Yeah you can’t use them for eBay Standard Envelope. Did they tell you that you couldn’t use them for Ground Advantage? I’ve been using them for First Class/Ground Advantage for years and have never had a single issue.
@@mailseum Good to know, thanks. She didn't tell me if I could use them for other type mailings. She just informed me that the did not bend and could not be used.
@@mailseum Yes, for ground advantage - they didn't when it was first class either, even with my other items, it had to be something like 3/4 to one inch thick min or it was considered a "letter" and not a "package" and once charged me an additional 9 dollars at the counter to track it or they would charge my customer
What a wonderful environment to work in, I applaud you on the degree of organization you’ve achieved… Building a workspace is a process, constantly evolving as you find a better or more efficient way of doing things… A couple of suggestions from an outsiders perspective; (1) Use that “blank” wall opposite your desk as stock storage as it appears there’s plenty of expansion room. Plus it’ll allow you to get up more frequently to stretch the legs… (2) Rotate the couch 180° against the wall and place the TV on the same wall as the new stock storage to gain viewing distance from the TV, reduced eye strain. One aisle instead of two will open up the space, plus there’s more headroom in the center of the room for walking… (3) Move stock from the end (window) wall to the new stock wall. This will lengthen the room. May make it possible for a small chair in the corner… Ceiling fans are a great alternative to air conditioning. Some have more pitch to the blades affording greater air movement.
Bag and board your letters. Like they use for comic books. For very over sized ephemera they make bags and boards for the over sized Life magazines. I have all mine bagged and boarded and in a file cabinet.
In addition to actually boarding and bagging each letter before you are ready to sell them, you can keep them in a 12 x 12 scrapbook paper storage box for about $5 at those same craft stores. I have all sorts of ephemera that keeps getting sorted into their proper size storage before selling.
Yes, get EVERYTHING in plastic! There was torrential rain yesterday and my apartment started leaking… right onto my inventory. I only had about $10 in damage because nearly everything was in clear poly bags. Consider putting bags on the cardboard boxes of your unlisted inventory.
Very nice tour. Thanks for sharing. It's a nice change of pace compared to the usual tour video where the reseller trips over boxes and shows off shelves completely disorganized 😂😋 Cheers, Julien
Such a nice ebay office space and well organized. Very envious, congrats on a job well done. I agree, there was no way I was going to print sku labels and bought mine in bulk on amazon years ago.
The portable air conditioners are more efficient if you take the "S" curve out of the exhaust vent. You may have to find a sturdy small table to raise it. The exhaust vent should also be smooth as possible as to not restrict the air... collapse or shorten the exhaust vent hose. Have a great week.
Enjoyed the office tour. An Idea for a future video would be a deep dive into cancelation and stamp values or "covers". You've mentioned it in recent videos but i couldn't figure out the website you said to use for cancelation value or rarity.
@@mailseum 🤣🤣🤣 Hhmm ok I’ll think of something!!! I’m a crazy cat lady!! I’m team don’t lock them out! Haha! Way to be the best cat dad though! Props to you Daniel! Maybe a shelf for the tree?
@Margot52430 the tree is close enough to me I can shoo them away, but I think the bigger one does it more when she’s hungry. She knows how to get my attention, that’s for sure
Love the tour, congratulations on the new house and office. I really like your set up. I really like the cabinet with the listed postcards, where did you get it? You could lot up the ephemera from the large box and sell it that way, too.
hang the plants up high, so you can let the kitty/kittties back in...get a pot of cat grass, or just buy the seeds and grow them some greens they can nibble on
Those I got from Joanne’s or Michael’s but you can get them from any arts and crafts store like that, they’re super cheap too, about $2 to $4 each on sale. The wooden ones I got on Amazon.
I did get top loaders and sleeves from Cardboard Gold but I don’t think they manufacture postcard supplies anymore. I’ll probably buy from BCW Supplies when I need to buy again, I’ve bought from them before and they’re great. I get EcoSwift mailers from eBay typically, and the 5” x 7” mailers are in the eBay shipping supplies store. I use eBay tape again from the eBay shipping supplies store since I have the coupon. I think that about covers it but let me know if you have questions about anything else!
I really like your office and the Christmas tree - too bad about the cats. I am surprised you're not interested in the holiday cards since you love Christmas so much. I have a "technical" question. It seems easy but I can't seem to get it. What is the difference between a topographical and non topographical postcard? I think I am in the wrong category sometimes. As I have tried to figure out I see others have the same problem. Thanks for all your very valuable information!
Postcard collectors don’t really use those terms in the US, eBay just kind of adopted them. Topographical are any postcards that show a real place and non-topographical are everything else from my understanding. I do sell any Santas I come across, Halloween of course, and other holidays that stick out to me. I’ve just always gravitated towards the views but maybe that will change someday!

You could use magazine-sized bag and board to store those civil war docs.

Thanks for sharing your setup!
Honestly those trapezoid ceiling rooms are so cozy to me. Hope it works well for you
Yeah that’s partially why I chose it for my office! I love it so much.

Congratulations on your awesome office! Looks fantastic. So happy for you.
Rick Geary did my Postcard Guy logo over 20 years ago and I still use it today!
I'm jealous! That is a perfect set up!
Thank you!
I never thought of using a dual monitor system for listing cards on eBay. That’s a great idea! Less strain on your eyes.
You should make a wall collage of you favorite post cards❤
Nice office setup!
Nice set up!
What a great setup! Well done, Daniel!

It’s awesome Daniel! Love it! My idea is a plant hanger and let the kitties back in! They are sorry for eating the plants!😂
Yeah they always look sorry but I don’t know if I believe it 😹

Update: the plants have been moved and the cats are back in, but they are now trying to eat the artificial Christmas tree instead.

I got it from Wayfair, it’s meant to be a shoe cabinet so I had to reinforce it a bit in the middle but I love the way it looks!
Been waiting on this!!! THANKS
Great set-up! Ditch the plant, et the cats back in 😻😃
Hope you can keep it clean. I've done room tours before and would never be able to do it again. Stay cool in there. Gonna be a hot summer.

Yeah I’ll have to figure something out…although they’re pretty smart and there are a lot of things to climb on nearby!
An art portfolio might work for the letters?
Thank you for sharing! Someday I hope to have it all in one room.
This is amazing!! Post Card Office dreamland!
SMpostcards does custom Sku orders
very nice, thank you for sharing the tips on equipment, shipping, etc.
Where did those boxes come from - the ones u use for current listed. Also the wood boxes are pretty cool too

Would you like a hand printed cyanotype art postcard?
Sure! If you go to my website you can email me there and we can work out the details.
Are you selling full time, or is this on top of a normal job. Its a great office setup. Thanks for sharing
I don’t sell full-time, but I do work for myself if that makes sense! I have other freelance work I do.
