The south african accent never fails to baffle me, how does it sound so posh and cool at the same time

I just bought my first Subaru, an Outback 3.6R Touring (USA model) in May 2018 and drove it 4000 miles (6437km) across the United States. It's hands down the best car I've owned. I even like it better than the 2012 BMW X5 I had. Super impressed with the EyeSight system and Adaptive Cruise Control. Can't wait to see how it handles in the snow, but I'll probably do a winter tire and wheel setup for that, as the stock tires aren't rated very well for that type of driving. Cargo space is ridiculously abundant, but I added the Thule Force XL Roof box for extra storage of winter sports equipment and it's more than apt full of space for at least six pair of skis and other gear. Loaded down with gear I'm getting about 24mpg for the whole trip, and that includes driving through the Sierra Nevada Mountains around Yosemite, West Virginia, and parts of Nevada.

With a bit of luck, this will be what I buy as my next long term car.

A bit like a Landcruiser - proven drivetrain , not particularly fast and built for purpose rather than curb appeal. A vehicle you would buy rather than lease.

I think It seems more expensive than the competition because all the "Optional Extras" come as Standard :) So the other cars will cost just the same with the add-ons in the end

I have a 2.0 Diesel. Better engine than the petrol and more economical. Love this car

Found this old review...Juliet was still taking her Ritalin and did some motoring journalism. LOL... Not sure what she does now, but this review has more info about the car than her last 10 reviews combined.

I wish anti stationwagonism hadn’t existed.

I might be completely off point, but I would like to address one question that was raised in the review, "Why do South Africans NOT buy station wagons?" This question can be answered by just adding one name: Sue Allen Ewing
Every time she would visit her favorite waterhole, she would get into her station wagon and roll it or put it in a wall. That's not the worst, she would always take one of your favorite actors/actresses with her in the car trying to talk her out of driving and that favorite actor/actress would, consequently, leave/written out of the show(Dallas for the youngsters). In my own opinion, that left us as South Africans a bit emotionally scarred and unknowingly, left a distaste in our mouths for station wagons. But that's just me...

I bought a Subaru Impreza station wagon, it was a great little car but I couldn't give it away when it came to selling it. Subaru South Africa needs to do some serious brand building if it wants/expects to compete with the regular brands. Perhaps a few guaranteed buy back value deals over 5 or so years would convince enough people to choose a Subaru over what everyone else buys.

Guys I'm interested in Automotive journalism. My question is how do you guys get the vehicles to review them? Is there a specific fee etc...

What about oil consumption? I heard it likes oil a lot. Do you have to add oil between oil change?

Khang Ho Never been a problem in the 6 cylinders. Only the turbo 4s. In which case, the 2017/2018 models across the line got a revised engine that is said to have taken care of that in the long run.

Wow, uncultured much? You know to the rest of the English speaking world - even the place where English is FROM - American's have an accent. American's say things incorrectly all the time. I really hate when people say "Oh this person needs to learn to speak English" when they are speaking fluent English, its just in their native accent. Literally... Americans are NOT the only English speaking people in the world. Oh and BTW, Americans pronounce Subaru incorrectly anyways. You might as well have commented "oh god her American needs work". There is a reason why so many people consider Americans to be uncultured and uneducated on the rest of the world. English is not FROM America. America adopted English from ENGLAND. Therefor, it is arguable that England's English accent is correct. And because of that, many things YOU say are incorrect. Such an uncultured person you are. "Her English needs work". Wow... literally one of the most shocking things I have EVER heard. I don't know if you noticed this, but that isn't America. And the American accent isn't shared around the world. But her English skills are actually perfect right now, she's fluent, and she most likely - being that its South Africa - has learned it since birth. And, to be even more honest, her English is probably better than yours. No capitalization, no punctuation, no emphasizing the Nouns, and your grammatical structure is totally wrong. Good work, you just emphasized why most of the world dislikes Americans in ONE COMMENT ON TH-cam.

Actually she is. This is the way the Japanese pronounce it. SOOBAROO is Americanism.
