I have always thought of why nobody messes around with those old mercs with v12s, I've always wondered how they would sound with a good exhaust system and mabye boosted
On MotorTrends Hot Rod Garage they put a single turbo 2JZ in an SL500 and said that the motor mounts were in the same position as the original benz engine. They even used oem mercedes engine mounts and only had to grind off an alignment pin then then the 2JZ just bolted in
I can still remember seeing one of these driving down the street 15+ years ago when I was just a teenager walking home from school. Growing up in Australia I was fairly used to Holden/Ford/Chev v8s but I just remember this thing with some aftermarket pipes sounded phenomenal and quite different to anything I'd heard before. Kind of weird I can't even remember what I ate for breakfast half the time but I remember in vivid detail seeing certain cars driving down the street decades ago haha.
I've always loved the old boxy Mercs and thought they could be cool builds after they'd depreciated to an amount that would allow people to just do "fuck it" mods too. This guy is awesome.

3 am squad checking in. These guys are inspirational to jump out of the norm. You dont need to buy a 240 or do a jz swap to party. This shows with a little thoughtful engineeringness you can thrash anything. Not knocking jz or s chassis's cause there a proven platform that work. Just nice to see some different type of cookies.
I met Ryan today at my work.He bought a bunch of JIC fittings wich was not cheap.I was just thinking to myself.I could only imagine whats he is going to make with them.He pulled up in a S200😎👌

@@will5436 it is a bit cramped, because unfortunately it is longer than a v8, but the car was designed to house an inline 6, so its not like thats any shorter

My friend just bought an sl 55 bi turbo (why they dont call it twin only Mercedes can tell you) the sound is unlike anything ive ever heard from a v8. This sounds much the same. Super distinct exhaust notes. But the power and torque was unlike anything ive ever experienced. It had twice the wheel horse as this and likely torque. Still, im not sure why more people dont do this? oh wait yes i do. He said it. To expensive to replace parts hahaahah seems these fellas found the affordable and excess able way. This is a mad build. Maybe more suited to track than drift tho lol
@@migmogg8087 my advice to you is, get a car with maintenance to back it up. Be prepared for oil leaks. I’ve redone almost all my gaskets lol. But anyways, super fun car and gets a lot of attention. I wish they were more mod friendly, in terms of finding information about modifications. Super solid and easy car to work in with the proper tools. I’d recommend it!

I own a v12 sl600. It has been pretty reliable and not that hard to work on because it is narrower than a v8
