- Seems like we are getting into actual winter weather for real now, even though I'm anticipating some 80 degree days in the near future 😂 Tonight is supposed to be extra frosty but we will see how that goes! I brought my lobster gloves just in case.

All the trucks blocking the bike lane would drive me crazy as a German commuter 😆😅
As an American, they would and do 😂
Whenever possible, bring videos on rainy days or at night. As incredible as it may seem, they are very calm. Thx
Seems like rain is coming at the end of the week so you'll get your wish!
@@BrianMcDonald Be careful with the roads and traffic, have a good trip and thx!! 😁
@@annacecilia7698 will do!
BMcD - what is required and what is 'effected' are two entirely different animals. Stay safe where you are! Bill O'
Thanks!
I've done Crown Heights to Harlem, but on a recumbent. Too much pain for me on an upright. More power to you, brother!
Love to see recumbent riders!!!
Do you use clipless or flat pedals? Must be kind of annoying to clip in and out as much in the city, I imagine.
I always use clipless when I ride unless I'm on a Citi Bike...I like having my feet clipped in and I don't mind all the in and out even if I have the occasional oopsy 😆
The bike lane should be next to the side walk and one way , like in Montreal , the best biking city in North america even in winter
Will they take me in over there?
Re: German commuter. It's not any different for the Yankees. Where is congestion pricing?
@@billogrady882 it is still not in effect unfortunately but there is a lawsuit filed to get it to resume because it is required by law
No bar tape👍
@@Nick-cs5yc I've since added bar tape 😂
probably not a lot of old bike commuters in nyc - head on a swivel
I'm getting up there! Plenty of riders of all ages though if you happen to do any social rides
@@BrianMcDonald the shifting sounded good- road or gravel Canyon?
@@joshschrader4732 this is a Fezzari gravel bike with a mullet setup
For the love of god put some bar tape on.
When I put my new bars on and get the fit set up I have a brand new set of tape waiting! 😂
Is that a Canyon bike?
It's a Fezzari :)
you are very brave. great vid. Do you have any mirrors on helmet to see traffic behind you?
No I don't use mirrors...I'm in the habit of looking back before doing anything though
@@BrianMcDonaldjust installed a Garmin Varian (radar). I like it, but the constant beeping in city traffic might be annoying!😀
@@brianmiller5444 I was going to say it would probably beep the entire time 😂
Im stuck looking at your tapeless bars..
There will be new bars with tape on this bike in the near future :)
@@BrianMcDonald great, I can finally get some sleep tonight
I just want to let you know that you can officially get some sleep now...The bars are taped!
@@BrianMcDonald Just in time, I've been roaming the streets of ny in a wide-eyed zombie state this past month.
would be neat if people didn't use a bike lane as a loading zone.
That would make too much sense
I'm just watching but I got annoyed by how many traffic stops and parked vehicles you had to go through, that really requires a passion for cycling
I'd love to not have the all the bike lane obstacles!
In my case I do really enjoy cycling, but on the days when the weather is terrible or if I'm feeling tired and lazy, aside from the "passion" a large motivator is that it is the fastest method time wise for me when comparing car/public transit. The time difference advantage of biking only becomes greater at night when you have to consider how trains are less frequent and prone to delays/service interruptions/detours, and that is something that has made my habits easier to maintain.
