  • The mighty James flows through Henrico County like a great provider of wealth and opportunity. Early settlers in the new world saw that shipping goods and services along its waterways would be beneficial. This is a story of triumph and tragedies as we look at historic Henrico experiences along the James River and Kanawha Canal.

My Dads homestead on the James river in the 1600's .
I went to Buchanan and followed the water through the mountains around Roanoke , down to Danville , got a map and headed to Clarksville where our homestead river pooled up and exercised my VA home loan. I love Virginia to no END.

I have been fascinated by the JR&K canal, the Bright Hope Railroad, and many other VA stories.
