For anyone not able (or not willing) to buy new pickups, the BH2s come wired in series, BUT they can sound like a damm normal pickup when you wire them SINGLE COIL. Not parallel (as scoopDEAD as series, just zingier, while still no mids/hi-mids to be heard). Correct color code is in this guy's video... th-cam.com/video/QZeHJvZzFEE/w-d-xo.html Also the VariMid onboard treats the single coils signal WAY better (no compression/distortion going on, which I was getting, when boosting bass/mids too much with the stock series wiring). Choose whichever coils you prefer for tone. I used the neckside coils of both pickups, which don't even hum cancel with each other when both are on, still have the same (negligible) hum level I had with them in series. This is my EHB1005MS's neck pickup in single coil. I might get better pickups down the road, but this way at least it can sound not far from your average Jazz Bass, I mean, USABLE... th-cam.com/video/fU6zdMXmAzY/w-d-xo.html
The problem with Nordstrand pickups is that they are fine without effects, but as soon as you add some distorsion they sound like crap unlike the Bartolini ones
Maybe the reason is because they did their review in active mode with the preamp but I think the best way to evaluate a pickup is in passive mode. Also in passive mode I think the Ns are a little brighter and more aggressive in tone. thanks for commenting my friend
What made you go for this bass? I've been thinking about this bass for so long and most people say that the BH2s are not as good as the nordstrands and i kinda get what they mean. Tbh distorted the BH2s sound better to me.
The bh2 are good but in my opinion I consider that the Nordstrand are better (especially for modern metal), and with distortion both are actually good alternatives, don't hesitate and buy the bass, it is a great option to play any genre with the stock pickups and if you don't like them you'll look for a pickup change in the future.
The P4 shell. Where can get tricky with the ehb is that if you get normal ones the pole pieces won't line up with the strings. You have to pay the extra 20 or 30 from nordstrand and they will make them to fit the ehb and line up properly@@HappyChillmore
Just want to confirm, these are Nordstrand Big Splits? It says "Big Singles" in the description, so I got confused. Also, what string spacing did you choose when you ordered your Nordstrand pickups? 18mm? Thanks!

Yeah I agree. Thanks to this vid I decided to get some Barts for my Jackson I've been modding. I hope they sound good with my fretless conversion
Good demo bro. Interesting as other demos I’ve listened to the Bs were fatter than the Ns and the Ns were way brighter and aggressive.

during the clean tone playing.....the Big Splits sound wayyyyyyyy better............thanks for doing that video
I also think that the big splits sound much better and provide more definition in the low end.

Are those nordstrand pickups the “Bartolini P2” shape? And did they fit with no modifications to the body?
To avoid modifications to the bass you have to order the Nordstrand Big Split 5, P4
Did these big split 5s really fit in perfectly? I am looking to get some but am reading that they don’t fit… thank you!
If they fit perfectly, I didn't make any modifications to the bass
It's just arranging the cables very well
@@ALFREDOCISNEROSBASS wait so they did fit perfectly?

Big Split is correct
18mm
Idk.. I kinda don’t like the nordstrands. Neither are that great imo
