Perfect timing. I've been testing out inverted wing backs in my journeyman save. I've never even thought about using them on attack. I'll certainly give it a go.
Never used IWBS in any way before so decided to have a go and its the most fun ive had using a formation... 2 IWBs on Attack as part of a back 5 with a ball winning midfielder helping out the remaining back 3 when the IWBs become AMCs in possession...very nice!
These are working beautifully for me in a 451 alongside AMR/L on attack duty in my Scunthorpe save (currently 16 points clear at the top of League 2). 33 matches in total so far and my 4 x IWB (Att) have an average of 7.35 rating with 13 goals and 12 assists between them.
Bielsa's 3-3-1-3 works amazingly well for this... AF W - support SS W-support IWB- Attack DLP-defend IWB-A WCB-defend Central Defender - defend WCB-defend SK-Support Underlaps on both sides like you have, wide attacking width but focus play through the middle...tried it with Paris FC in my beta save this year
I've used Dortmund in my last save game and as Guerreiro is probably the most technically gifted player in the team, I used him as an IWB on attack with Reyna as an AP on the left side and underlap left TI. Worked absolute wonders for me! Ah and I should add that I played with basically the "next season" squad, so I deployed Reus as a F9 to have Guerreiro running in between Reus and Reyna. I don't think it would work the same with Haaland as an AF.
Thanks to this I’m now using one (left side only) in my lower league save. Causing me an issue though - now 96 clubs want to sign him!! His avg rating is 7.26. Doesn’t score many as he tends to take shots from outside the area but he is involved in most attacks. It’s also a joy to watch him drift in and get on to passes in and around the opposition area. Need to look at what traits help this role. Possibly One-twos or refrains from long shots. Anyway - opened my eyes to a new way to attack - Cheers 🍻
Happy New Year to you and your family. Great video Neil! I have been flirting with IWB in a support role with a half back to then let central midfield push up more but need more time for the players to get used to it (or get better players for the role). I was going to say that having yours in attack may leave you vulnerable, but I saw that you had only conceded 8 goals so far, which I think I would be happy with. I am coming to the end of my 2nd season so may look at reviewing my tactic to embrace IWBs more
Very impressive, didnt know that they could go act like that, they looked like 2 inside forwards or something. Gonna think about that, but in a back 2 formation for example, I think that would be important the wingers to compensate or using Carrileros maybe... In my Sporting save I have Porro that is a monster as wing-back, but he has the profile to act like those inverted wing back on attack, so maybe gonna try it.
I created a tactic that use 2 iwb one in support and one on attack, and I'm absolutely smashing it. I managed to beat city away with elfsborg, and thriving in the league with tons of goals and conceded hljust few and my squad is not that great, as in Sweden you need Swedish players for squad registration
Tried moving the two shadow strikers around but nothing seems to work quite as well as your original setup here. The comment about Bielsa’s 3-3-1-3 is interesting though.
@@StingerNeilD so tweaked the formation on this and paired it with some oppo instructions that were inspired by a bust the net video and I nearly had an invincible season with Inter! Have just suffered our first defeat with about 7 games to go 😭 The most interesting point is we’ve only conceded about 8 goals through 30 odd games in the league and we are top scorers too. Have just been knocked out in the QF of the UCL though.

It's very enjoyable mate
I know it is a 2 years old video, but it still helps me a lot. Thanks, mate!
Glad it helped!

Love that mate. Using something very similar at the minute
I enjoy this video being done with Inter given that Giacinto Facchetti was arguably the first ever Inverted Wing-Back.

Love this. I'd say play killer balls but that depends if he has high enough attributes. Definitely worth a go though

Happy new year Gary mate. Tactic is still work in progress. Not convinced a team lower down the scale would fair as well

Porro is a monster. When I used Sporting I used Nuno Santos as a WB too. He'd be great at this
I would like to see how well dumfries can play as an iwb on attack as he was smashing it for holland at euros 2020 as their top goalscorer.
Superb is the answer! Him and the other inter players were superb
Is it still working on FM23 ?
@Stinger can you please make one of these for Poacher?

This sounds brilliant
I've just destroyed Astana in the champions league play off 10-2 hahhaba
Impressive. Thanks
Oh yeah! This looks like fun 😁
Get at it!

@@drew3ism very much a work in progress mate, that's why I won't release it as a tactic video yet

@@drew3ism there you go man! Epic.
Would a HB work better than an anchor role? Never really tried one.
Anchor doesn't drop as deep as HB so I used anchor for this setup. Doesn't mean you can't use a HB
Its like a mezzala but as a full back
It's interesting for sure
It's a mezzala that goes inside rather than wide. Basically compacts your midfield.
Recently, I found Defensive wingers amazing on 343 or 3421 what do you think about them?
In honesty I haven't used them much. But. I'm gonna try to create a system with no full backs or wing backs so I'll be giving them a go
Using iwb, should i asign my lef back on the right, and my right back on the left?
If you can get them comfortable in the role
WOW, that's mad
Ppl don’t k ow how good anchor man is
Great role
2 cancellos (you know what I mean)
You know it
