    Thank you for being honest and showing the “bad” side of life and your running journey. You’re so right in saying everyone makes it look so easy on social media. Thank you for actually being real and relatable. You could’ve easily just not included your run and when you said you “failed”. Absolutely love watching your videos Conagh and you’re killing it on all aspects of your life. Don’t be so hard on yourself. I remember about a year ago you saying “I’m not a runner” and now look at you. You’re amazing and so inspiring 🩷🩷

    If it brings you any comfort: I only got up to 27km for my marathon training. I had a lot of set backs and mental blocks. Going into the race I was following a 9:00 minute mile pace group to finish in 4 hours and the adrenaline took me the rest of the way without having to stop. I hope this is a nice reminder that your training will shine through when you need it. Race day adrenaline is a thing!! You so got this.

    Conagh you are sick of course your heartrate will increase and your pace will be a bit slower
    that is totally normal!
    actually when your nose is blocked it is waaaay harder to breathe in enough oxygen for your muscles so no wonder it was harder for you
    just give your body time to heal and maybe stick with very easy runs (max 140) and do more instead of longer runs
    you`ve got this! you will make your marathon I am sure!!

    The best thing I’ve done to improve my running (on my easy runs and long runs) is turn off the pace calculator on my watch. I just have my time and HR visible. Worrying about my pace has caused so much unnecessary stress for me and I want to enjoy running, not be burdened by a number!

      Sooo true!! It’s a hobby it should be fun. You’re not an athlete (as in an Olympian not in a mean way) you should be happy running y and enjoying it. Life’s too short ❤

I am in university and my day consists of studying and your vlogs give me a reason to take a breather, so thank you for your weekly vlogs. girl, i failed and then procrastinated the hell out of that 34km long run so I feel you! I also got gastro and couldn't eat at all for nearly the entire week before the mara. I still got the thing done and I know you can too! The marathon is the victory lap and the vibes and the people around you will carry you through! You got this!

    You being open about your emotions and how you feel is what makes you so relatable and enjoyable to watch! Not every vlog is going to be sunshine and rainbows because life isn't (but your positive attitude makes each one feel that way even when you say you are down). Your feelings are valid for being a different pace, but don't be too hard on yourself! You are doing so amazing and your body might just need a break to be at your best. Love your videos, thank you for being open and yourself!

    I was dealing with my first injury and got COVID 6 weeks out from my marathon and had to take basically 3 weeks off completely because my injury needed time and PT and COVID knocked me off my feet. When I could finally run again, it was the start of my taper! I am definitely not at my peak fitness anymore, but i am so grateful i can even attempt to run the marathon and have a good chance of finishing near my goal time! You can really bounce back quickly, but it takes a week or two to get back that stamina pain free. All this to say, get the rest you need and don't give up!

  • @ladyChouue09
    @ladyChouue09 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Girl, this is litterally the first time I ever comment under a TH-cam video... But as a runner that had her ups and downs I get you so much. My advice would be to take a week to built back your running volume, after you've stopped or you've been sick (or both!!). Your body needs rest more than anything else. Id suggest to take a week with 3 - 4 runs that goes between 30 mins and 90 mins to get your body started without exhausting it. Then you should be able you do your long run. Sometimes pushing yourself is not necessary and can do more harm. You shouldn't worry about your pace while recovering... Try to not look at it and just focus on finishing your run. You can focus on pushing yourself and progressing another time.
    Also, the way you feel right now will not be the way you feel at the marathon. Try not to project how you feel at the moment. The energy that running with people around, in an official event, is different ! You have done long runs before and your muscles will remember.
    Good luck with everything :)

  • @zoeh2016
    @zoeh2016 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Love your vlogs Conagh! You could try to check with your watch to see if the pacing is accurate or not, run a certain loop or section where you know the exact distance (ie a 400m track etc) and if the distance is off you know it’s your watch rather than yourself. Hope that makes sense
    I hope everything works out for you ❤

  • @marissahutchings
    @marissahutchings 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hey Conagh! I went through similar struggles towards the end of my marathon training block... slower paces, a knee injury and loss of confidence BUT girl you've gotta focus on how good you'll feel when you cross that line! Long runs are f***ing tough both physically and mentally but these are the times when you just have to channel all your bad b**ch energy and get them done! Massage, foam rolling, saunas, ice baths and Normatec compression boots absolutely saved my leg muscles towards the end there and I would 100% recommend you give them a go! Keeping up with your strength sessions is important too but keep things light as you get close to the big dance. Take a deep breath, enjoy some easy runs and try fitting that 34km in again at least 2 weeks before race day. Your body has probably just deconditioned a little from your time off and being sick but it will bounce back soon! Believe in yourself and remember how much you've put in to this journey - you've got this! 💪❤

    You are still ill, please go easy on yourself. Your body needs time to rest and heal. The marathon will go how it goes. You put in a lot of hard work, ignoring your body's signs that it needs rest could undo a lot of that if you aren't careful.

  • @brookedrummond5368
    @brookedrummond5368 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Although you have a training schedule that you are trying to stick to, listen to your body and ease back into the training since you’ve been sick. Pushing yourself too hard will only set you back rather than help with any progression. Also a lot of comments are saying to throw out all the technology. I get why you use them, I like tracking everything exactly too, but it’s like when you step on the scale too often and create an unhealthy habit - you get so focused on the number rather than how healthy you feel and what you see in the mirror. Maybe just take a break from all the tracking devices for a couple days. Track your overall distance and then calculate your own pace. Then you can compare your pace each day to see which watch was closer. Try to remember why you fell in love with running in the first place and get going at a pace that feels comfortable until you’re in a better headspace to jump back into training and tracking.

    I think you should give yourself a little bit of grace starting with such a massive run after having a cold is quite a lot and it's normal to feel sluggish after being sick and having still a stuffy nose. I wish the runners app would give recommendations for how to ease in after being sick or having a break. anyways, hope you feel better already. :) You're definitely capable. Don't question everything you're doing. You're inspiring a lot of women to get out of their comfort zones. :)

    Have you tried wearing both your Garmin and Coros at the same time? Sounds weird, I know! But this might be a good way to see if it's a tech issue (the new watch) or if it is your pace. All watches/devices with GPS will all be a lil bit out from one device to the other, but being a minute or more difference is a bit odd and may actually be a device issue. That said, you have been sick and like others have said that makes a huge difference. Be gentle on yourself!! You already have such a good base and have proven you can do long distance running. As someone who has done half marathons and a marathon, if you can do 30k, you will be able to do 42km... it'll just be a matter of getting the time on feet, which will come and you've been doing that. If your body is craving rest, do it. One race I was training for, I got sick part way through and ended up switching to doing spin classes in the last 4 weeks of my training block. Another buddy trained for the 'running' portion of his half ironman didn't do any run training and just did miles on the bike and managed to complete his run. Anyway, this is a long winded way to say... you've got this and training can be changed up as needed. Go Conagh!

    I’m not an expert but I think it’s normal for your body to be tired, you haven’t given it time to rest since you started training for the half marathon, and now the marathon. Plus you had a couple of injuries and you continued training. Just be patient with your body and maybe back off the gym a bit. But this is just a suggestion of course. I’m rooting for you. Also thanks for also sharing your struggles with us.

    Jesus girl just finished! Wow. Ring and 2 watches. You need to quit all technology. Just focus on distance, that’s all a marathon is. 42km. Measure 21km and just run out and then back (or whatever your biggest distance is). Don’t stress. Jesus girl. You’re a girl who’s stRted running but you’re taking allllllll the fun out of it!!!! It’s good to have a goal but surely finishing a marathon is the goal??? The time etc isn’t the important bit??? For your first one especially. I feel like you’re too techy. All the pre workouts, gels, gear, watches, rings, shoes, clothes, glasses, vests etc STOP!!!!!!!!!! Just get bra shorts shoes on, charge your headphones and run out (a pre measured distance) and run back. Get back to enjoying running. From a 37 year old big sis vibes. Big hugs xxx

    This is coming from someone who has been stuck on 7km for months so I have zero credentials but this made me feel better about my running journey… Studies have been done that it’s actually not healthy to be running long distances in such a short time frame. 34km is more achievable when you’ve been running for years or ran cross country as a child etc. To run that far from starting 2-3 years ago is pretty insane so don’t be too hard on yourself 🤍🤍🤍
