When the Anni character sees Sithha being beaten up, she screams "Ayyo, em pulla!!". That is one of the most emotional and beautiful scenes of the movie. Absolutely nails their relationship on your head.
For BR’s question in 31:00 in my opinion, I think Siddharths character has to do a lot with foreshadowing. For example, when the security guard says that “I’ve already sent Sundari in a share auto with her neighborhood kids” and with an impulse Siddharth grabs the security guards shirt angrily and scolds but then it’s revealed that he’s actually not sent her but she’s hiding. The expected response from guard is anger and frustration as a result of being falsely accused but no, he chooses to softly let’s it go and takes it lightly with a smile (which most people wouldn’t have done at all) The same sort of scenario happens to Siddharth (with higher stakes) where he gets accused of something he didn’t do and gets *grabbed by the shirt by vadivelu* and beaten up. But when Vadivelu realizes that Siddharth didn’t do anything and he was innocent and hugs him and says sorry. His response too was timid, soft and just let’s go and hugs Vadivelu back. Regarding this, you can see that everything is foreshadowed for Siddharth’s character and how he (possibly) learns to react to a situation through a previous instance. I also think karma also has a play in this movie where it’s all coming back to Siddharth. (Sorry for the long commment but I just wanted to express this here !!)
Definitely this guy would be a great dad, husband, son & every other relation. 1 reason was his observation on the way his mother sleeps. Brilliant thoughts. Hats off sir
BR is so acknowledging that, his questions make the creator so excited in a way that, an audience of his has understood his work with a thought process that reflects his intention! Such a beautiful and detailed conversation.
true , arun is excited as fuck and its so happy to see a creator like this . its so encouraging actually . more than money and fame . someone saying what you had in your mind an year back while shooting and appreciating it is more than an orgasm . its makes a creator so happy and positive . he did the same in adhik interview and many . BR is the best
I never thought a film interview video would give an "n" number of goosebump moments...it's absolutely brilliant and the director describes how her mother sleeps in her house vs in her husband's house gives a new view of women's life.
Always wanted to see this guy's face. Pannaiyarum Padminiyum is a casestudy on filmmaking. And Sethupathi changed VJs's persona completely. Both game changing films for VJS. Always knew Arun Kumar would bounce back after Sindhubaad.
Each of the frames set in Pannaiyaarum Padmini has a backdrop, it was very much evident in that film. One special frame was the last frame in onakaaga poranthaene song. That frame had so much to tell. I was watching that movie around 2 a.m in the night and it kept ringing on my head for the whole week. So happy to see someone talk about the masterpiece Pannaiyaarum padminiyum.
Mr. Arun made BR so comfortable with his honesty and ability to take criticism. Love such openness. Sadly I got reminded of good directors like Lokesh and Nelson being stuck with all the big-hero-mass-masala films. Big heroes are a curse to the industry until they do performance oriented films. I'm hoping Leo could change this but still very skeptical.
BR can easily do this interview..See how BR is taking sincere efforts to bring things out..not just this ..he puts efforts in to almost all interview which makes him stand out..totally worth watching interview
Omg...what a man! Just the way he noticed how his mother sleeps at her parents' vs her own/in-laws , says everything about the kind of person he is. Things even a lot of women wouldn't mind fully know , even if one does it's not something women even say to their own husband. The nuance he picked up is just 🤌🏼🤌🏼 says a lot about this gem. No wonder he directed Pannaiyaarum padminiyum, the dialogues the lady says to her husband felt so on point to how any women would talk and the small actions through out the famous song, just felt like a women wrote that character. Her role was so well written.
Ovoru rathiriyum in that song .. sidharth sir tries to kiss nimisha mam but nimisha mam thought abt that bad incident happened in that place..so she not allows him to kiss ..instead she laid her head on Siddharth sir laps..good writing sir...
How Can a guy watch and talk cinema at this depth and How Can a guy craft a movie with so much finesse and dedication ? Im beyond words , This is a Masterclass Video
Came here after watching #Chithha in OTT. Good to see even BR is excited. Kudos to the whole team along with the director Arun. Unable to come out of this movie... Semma..
Chellakutty BR delivers another gift for upcoming film makers . Outstanding interview for an even outstanding film . Thank you once again ! Take a bow Arun 🥹
Thank you, BR, for this wonderful interview. It was a pleasure to experience the filmmaker's energy and thought process. An Education. Discretion is the better part of valor. Chitta climax should go down in the history of Thamizh Cinema for invoking the softest touch to drive home the message with the might of a sledgehammer. Makes absolute sense and I am convinced that the message will indeed reach. I sincerely hope the movie is made tax-free and all the schools encourage their students to view it.
The movie was 2.20 hours, this interview was 1.02 hours - but this hour was as striking as the movie itself. Thank you both for a very illuminating, quality conversation. Thanks to both BR for the deeply insightful questions and Arun for his raw and honest answers. 💛
This is such a beautiful interview ❤ I really love the part from @47:00.. all these years the victims were maximum shown to be some sort of angels or good people whereas this girl sundari is such a normal child with the right amount of innocence and naughtiness... The movie was really an empathetic one rather than being just sympathetic... God wish Tamil cinema produces more movies like chittha ❤❤
watched this movie with my daughter really good narrative of explaining in whats ways kids are trapped, in end she asked me about the snake inside the bag, please make sure we resolve every fear we create when we deal with kids.
I had the same question( why easwaran did not explain why he left Sundari) after watching this movie recently and felt that "Theriyadhu answer" was something unique. And now by watching this video after two months and the same thing being addressed by BR.... it feels like an acknowledgement
After creating one of the greatest pieces of art in tamil cinema , dude went on to deliver one of the greatest BR sessions of all time. Daumnnnn, this is easily on my top 10 BR sessions. A goddamn masterclass. My only gripe is that this session was over a lil too soon, would've been gratified if this went on fora couple of hours more!
In order to do justice to a director’s interview, one must have a deep understanding of cinema, the making process, and the behind-the-scenes details. BR is a prime example of someone who is passionate about these aspects and is able to add immense value to both viewers and creators alike. If one is unable to analyze like him, it is better to stick to reviewing whether the movie appealed to them or not. This way, the review will be more honest and straightforward.
Completely disagree with BR about his opinion on the background score. Just because he didn't like doesn't mean it's bad. For me the background score gave good impact and I felt the music director did an excellent work by using the violin. BR don't have music sense so he don't talk much about the music in any of his reviews.
Another fantastic interview by BR, as expected! The questions are always on point and keep the momentum going. Such an amazing movie! Meanwhile, Telugu people are making movies like Skanda and Peddakapu. Oscar for Boya loading
@br 59:50 thyagaraja kumar saying by opening a window I may unknowingly let many doors closed to Arunkumar openly speaking out online pre-post release... Two great films two different perspective.. By the way, I watched movie.. And I can keep listing many moments. Sakthi exploring the perspective to Eesu in the hospital Bun thatha fighting for good Athai trying to help the kid.. And many more
False accusation happened for me as well recently just smiling at my team colleague she also smile at back she called me anna only i saw her as a sister only but suddenly she thought i saw her in a bad way. when i hear this from my supervisor i am totally shocked she complaint about me now she is trying to talking to me very normally 😕
59:37 basically opposite to mohanlal's school of thoughts. He keeps saying "it just happened" without taking an effort to how he managed to give a performance in a scene
BR asking why same happened to Shakthi.my answer is if it is not happened to shakthi,as per sidarth she is a good student, and choose good higher studies and got good job.after that incident she may discontinued her studies and end up with that cleaning job.
24.01 - It doesn’t have to actually be like that, just because you are a woman you cannot empathise, only someone who have undergone abuse will understand. And one more thing, every woman has a story.
I even love the level of writing even in the romantic song, siddarth will try to kiss her but she will deny that and she will lie on his lap .i think it conveys the thing she has gone through, also she needs his support like a mother and also it shows how far she has come from seeing a monster to trust a man so completely.
When the Anni character sees Sithha being beaten up, she screams "Ayyo, em pulla!!". That is one of the most emotional and beautiful scenes of the movie. Absolutely nails their relationship on your head.
You have no idea. This is something that I have always been telling my friends

Gustavo's style is admirable. You can easily achieve it here through Rahman, as he can score perfectly for festivals as well.
The movie was 2.20 hours, this interview was 1.02 hours - but this hour was as striking as the movie itself. Thank you both for a very illuminating, quality conversation. Thanks to both BR for the deeply insightful questions and Arun for his raw and honest answers. 💛
Massive respect to both. Such a brilliant interview to listen to.
Phenomenal filmography by Arun Kumar... Kudos to him and the team

Head Burst is the movie BR mentioned from the German director Savas Ceviz
yes, I have been trying to find that film ever since BR did an article on it in First Post.
Damn, thanks a ton for this! I’ve been trying to find it for a while now, purely based on BR’s description of it.
