and, in my case Alex Valencia, with Bradley Cooper by my side LOL I could die in a couple of hours and be perfectly fine with that. I'd die ridiculously happy.
And to think, this very talented young MAN was once playing on the streets of Manhattan, with his Guitar Case open for change from listeners and passerby...how very blessed he really is! Love this song! :)
a 1986 Down Beat issue voted Jordan as new guitarist of Year. a long way from 1982 when Jordan stood at the mall corner near Princeton where he went to school (Princeton U, Class of 1981), playing his guitar, earning pocket money. by 1986, he got his first LP contract with then Blue Note label which specializes in high quality jazz........wow, 22 yrs ago...
Best, is subjective.. Who's criteria? Someone once suggested to that Amy Winehouse was better than Chaka Khan, then again I don't value their opinion on the matter 😐👍
Keyboard solo, just time taken away from us hearing Stanley play. I caught Jordan in LA opening for Larry Carlton back in the day, as me and my guitar buddies all had to see in person this new original innovator that's revolutionizing the instrument.
I first heard him play this on a Blue Note cassette tape (remember those?) called Stanley Jordan Magic Touch. It is a couple of minutes shorter, but just as good. I also had the chance to see him play at UC Irvine in California many years ago. He is a magician on the guitar.
It's a wonderful unique, original style Stanley Jordan has and what a sound he produces from that guitar. I was lucky enough to see him perform live in a solo concert at the Queens Hall in Edinburgh, Scotland UK going back some years ago.
That was a great job of bass backup; he holds a nice tight groove all the way through the tune from beginning to end. This is a great song for training bass players to lay in the pocket and hold a groove.
Just heard a new version of this song on kjza in Atlanta.Sorry no one can touch Mr Jordans version .This man did this playing up on the neck of the guitar .He is the man
Bernard Wright on the keys. Wright was touring at 13 years of age, played with Tom Browne (Funkin' For Jamaica) at 16, and had an album released when he was 17. Anyone remember "Just Chillin' Out"?
Yes I remember. We used to party together whenever they came in town. Saw Tom a few years ago, not since moving down south though. Bernard was writing/performing with other artists & I have not heard from him or seen him in over 20 years now.
Wow i had heard this version ever since i was younger but i had no clue that Stanley Jordan did it. As if i wasnt already blown away from his music before.
There'll be no darkness tonight Lady our love will shine Lighting the night Just put your trust in my heart And meet me in paradise Now is the time girl You're every wonder in this world to me A treasure time won't steal away So listen to my heart Lay your body close to mine Let me fill you with my dreams I can make you feel alright And baby through the years Gonna love you more each day So I promise you tonight That you'll always be the lady in my life Lay back in my tenderness Let's make this a night we won't forget Girl, I need your sweet caress Reach out to a fantasy Two hearts in the beat of ecstasy Come to me, girl And I will keep you warm Through the shadows of the night Let me touch you with my love I can make you feel so right And baby through the years Even when we're old and gray I will love you more each day 'Cause you will always be the lady in my life Stay with me I want you to stay with me
Had the privilege to see Stan doing a solo act in Bangkok .He played the guitar and piano at the same time blew me away he did not say much that night he let his fingers do the talking ....A night to remember thx Stanley JJJJJJJJJ
So, I guess when someone makes the claim that Stanley Jordan has more talent in his right index finger than most guitarists - they mean it literally! A rare talent indeed - awesome.
Thank you fostexD160 for posting this video and thank you LOVEMESOMEMICHAEL for sharing this video as a favorite. How exciting it would have been to be in attendance at Stanley Jordan's concert. He and his band are overflowing with musical excellence."Lady in my life" is such a lovely and moving song. It's a joy to see this live performance!
Stanley Jordan’s skills as a guitarist: scarcely believable man. Guy is a genius
What I wouldn't do to see him perform this live!! Wow! Continue RIHP Bernard Wright ( keyboardist)❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I wish I was listening to this song in a boat out to sea with wine and full moon
and, in my case Alex Valencia, with Bradley Cooper by my side LOL I could die in a couple of hours and be perfectly fine with that. I'd die ridiculously happy.

Its been 45 years and I'm still waiting for him to let go.
A classic never dies!!!!
This is music 🇨🇮
Anyone who says GB (George Benson) was better?.......Come on. This is insane. They both are among the greatest. Its like Ferrari or a Lamborghini!
They're both good. 2 different styles.
Yeah 2 different styles!...but I'm sure both respect each others styles!...but imo i like George's style a little bit more!
@@willa9791 All good. There's room for many, many geniuses. It's a very big planet!!! :)
@@bottleforty1 Yes different styles but still effective

I still have this cassette tape, as well as his follow up Flying Home. Man...the nostalgia...
I still have the first press vinyl!

There'll be no darkness tonight
Lady our love will shine
Lighting the night
Just put your trust in my heart
And meet me in paradise
Now is the time girl
You're every wonder in this world to me
A treasure time won't steal away
So listen to my heart
Lay your body close to mine
Let me fill you with my dreams
I can make you feel alright
And baby through the years
Gonna love you more each day
So I promise you tonight
That you'll always be the lady in my life
Lay back in my tenderness
Let's make this a night we won't forget
Girl, I need your sweet caress
Reach out to a fantasy
Two hearts in the beat of ecstasy
Come to me, girl
And I will keep you warm
Through the shadows of the night
Let me touch you with my love
I can make you feel so right
And baby through the years
Even when we're old and gray
I will love you more each day
'Cause you will always be the lady in my life
Stay with me
I want you to stay with me
