    Great points.
I am a former programming instructor and also hate the "car" or "animal" examples, too. I also wanted to use things people would use in their programs, like "products" and "items" (skus) or "windows" and "controls," etc.
BTW, it is funny how you say (something like) "You don't learn everything about a programming language, you just learn what you need." Funny, because when I was relatively new to programming I would read the reference guide to the language I was learning cover-to-cover, learning what every function did and memorizing it. That was one of my favorite things to read! And when a new version came out, I would devour the new reference guide to find what was new.
But admittedly that was a different era, one before the Internet and one where information was not overwhelming and so readily available. Funny how information scarcity vs. information overload changes ones consumption of information.

Haha that is true. I printed out php manual and took it with me on work to read thru it. We didn't have internet available at the time. But there was something in the "smaller total" of things to learn at the time, i haven't thought about that before, thanks for pointing out out. What do you work with now?

@@ApplicableProgramming - Good question. Depend on what my current project is.
But to try to nail it down I spent 10+ years with PHP+MySQL+Apache/Nginx+REST+etc, and then about 4 years ago I moved to Go and Bash writing CLIs, Microservices, and Kubernetes Operators with various amounts of GitHub Actions, VMware, Docker, Packer, Linux, Kubernetes, and lots of other tools.

@@gearboxworks I guess that is quite common for people who get into senior senior years, tools change around us and we do whatever is needed to get the job done. Do you feel like you are "missing" on the specialization front? Like you when here you cannot define yourself as to what you use?
I also jump from project to project, and sometimes I get hit by imposter as there are people who use this stack/lib much more proficiently then me

@@ApplicableProgramming - No, I definitely feel I specialize. When most people ask I say I am a backend Go developer, but given your knowledge of development and what we were discussing I chose to elaborate when answering your question.
As for imposter syndrome, while I usually relate better to younger generations than my own, I can say I have never felt that way and I think it must be a younger generation thing. I have many times recognized I do not have as much experience in an area as others, but for me I always feel it is “I do not have as much experience as they do, yet.” #fwiw 🤷‍♂️

@@gearboxworks Damn.. I've met several people who do not care at all, and sometimes I am jealous. I've learned to project confidence, but at the same time say the truth about my insecurities. I think people react ok to that, so I stick to that. And from time to time I mention my experience, so people do not pay attention to the details, and considering I am a bit older as well, all that combo gets me by I guess :)
O yeah, also I've learned not to care too much :)

I just do not like tutorials that use useless examples for explaining complex concepts

Hahaha why are these person inheriting animal very funny lol - The useless examples used to explain concepts, particularly OOP concepts is nonsense. Thanks for voicing these.

Found your accent fine, you’re just a fast speaker. Many thanks from South Africa

@Applicable Programming: Just some more feedback: I'm from the USA, and I understand your accent with no problem at all. Even on 2x speed, which is how I normally watch videos. There are many other non-native English speakers on TH-cam whose accents are much, much worse, at least for my ears.
