I'm very happy I read this book. Barbie is a great protagonist and the whole nature of the Dome is beyond compelling. I also love how it bluntly connects the short story N. from Just After Sunset. All that said, I re-read most of King books and this is one that always feels too heavy to go back to. Justice comes too infrequently and ultimately too late.
Here’s a few things that interested me abt the book - I found the small duality in Junior’s character interesting, such as how he treated everyone else by literally killing and assaulting ppl and then when it comes to Alice & Aidan Appleton he has a soft spot - It’s also interesting to see how Juniors brain tumor becomes even more debilitating as the story goes on - I really loved Sammy Bushey’s story, as tragic as it was
Yeah the best part of the book was Junior’s strange fatherly tenderness for the children despite being sociopathic towards others and despite also having a father who clearly held similar character traits. It did seem like King lost the thread for the back end of the book but he set up the fall of the dome so well that I would definitely read it again.
Great book
