Captain.. It was a very ❤️ touching information.. My father was a Commander Chief Engineer in Pakistan Navy. After his early retirement, he join PNSC. His last voyage was Bulgaria. And his last will was to give him a sea burial.. Which cannot be done in certain circumstances. His body came by flight ✈️ to Karachi that was in 1981. He was only 49 yrs. of age.. Captain hats off to you... For what you are doing... U are a very good teacher 👍

My brother C/E Mohammad Wasim died on board VLCC crude carrier at Novorossiysk port (Russia) on 18 April 2007, it was tough time for us but we received his dead body after 13 days for burial in Karachi.
I was quite young when my brother died and listening to the procedures you have mentioned I feel really painful as I recalled that time.

Excellent and informative video Capt Zahid. Have had the misfortune to witness a death at sea. Even though the body was landed ashore, the procedures you have described as followed, were exactly the same. To those interested, the procedures are described in The Ship Master's Medical Guide. This manual is usually on the Bridge.
I have learnt so much about ship life and it's not easy in various aspects... you are doing a great job

Sea burial is common practice on Pilgrimage passengers ships.
During my tenure on passenger ship m.v SHAMS and during Haj season many sick Hajis were expired and their sea burial carried out during night time, although most of them relatives and supporters insisted to keep the body refrigerated but due to Saudi immigration restrictions no dead body is allowed while berthing hence sea burial of dead body carried out before approaching pilot arrival.
Same procedure applied as mentioned by you.

Sir , I have two questions. First before conducting any funeral services, death certificate by a doctor is compulsory. How do you get a death certificate on board a ship? My second question is how do you conduct the last rites as per the religion of the deceased sea farer? Very hard life the sea farmers face .

Can you explain in another video what happens if someone is found missing from the ship in the middle of the sea ? I know a case in which this has happened - a close relative who was the Chief Officer of his vessel has been missing for the last 24 years !
