25 years after the original footage was shot, this is a digital remaster and re-edit of a video that gives a glimpse into the world of steam power on the railways of Northern China in 1998. Industrial systems at a limestone quarry, coal mine and steel works are covered before the main feature - the Jitong Railway of Inner Mongolia and the legendary Jing Peng Pass where heavy freight trains hauled by double headed QJ 2-10-2s climb the gradients surrounded by dramatic scenery.
