I love George Coleman's sound. He is from Memphis Tennessee as is Frank Strozier, Charles Lloyd and Booker Little. In his Early years Lloyd was mentored by Coleman.

Thank you SO MUCH for this. This was the first example of Tony's drumming that I ever heard, and it made me a total fan for life!! This is so incredibly brilliant, in so many ways!!!

      You’re very welcome !!!
There’s so many example of Tony’s amazing playing out there. But, for sure you JUST HAVE TO listen to FOUR AND MORE… it’s the 2nd 1/2 of the album My Funny Valentine + Four and More. The 1st 1/2 is the slower stuff and Four & More is the crazy shit almost ever recorded. Thought by many to be the “Jazz Bible”. It doesn’t haven’t all styles and it’s just one band, so the “title” doesn’t really make sense.. but it makes sense in a way bc they’re like angels or saints… performing miracles, for sure.
Just incredible. Look up “Miles 1964” on YT for video of this band in action at that time.
Also, for older Tony, I really love the song “Creatures of Conscience” (also written by Tony). Crazy, crazy stuff. He changed drumming forever. I could talk about him for days. 🤪🔨 All the best to you 🙏

      Sorry… I’m not sure I understand your comment. Yes, you’re correct… I do.

@@tuknchuk - Well surely they should fall under your own terms of you having no intention of the upload(s) being qualified as 'isolated' examples?

@@monsterjazzlicks , I changed the Titles of all of my videos like this to SEMI-Isolated as suggested by another TH-camr. If you're interested, check out the end of this video: th-cam.com/video/waWe-x9k8TU/w-d-xo.html I demonstrate and A/B the original audio with the NEW, more isolated audio. There is quite a big difference, IMO. I'm sorry if this somehow offends you. It was not my intention to upset people and I'm not doing it for clicks and watch time. I just thought that some people might appreciate and be interested in hearing what I did so I could hear Tony better.
I'm not sure how else to list it. If you read the description of the video or read what I wrote in the video linked above you'll see and hear that it is more isolated bc the instruments panned hard left like the piano on this album are almost entirely gone. The bass is much quieter than the original... and the drums have been accentuated with EQ and Compression. Anyway, I apologize if this upsets you. It was not my intention. And if you read all of the comments to many of these videos you will see that many people are very thankful that I posted these. We all just have different interests and personalities. Anyway, I was just trying to be a positive part of the drumming and jazz community. I'm sorry if you don't take it that way. If you have any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them. Thanks and All the best to you.
