Let's not sit back and speculate. No system is perfect. Africa was way back a monarch country, Where people were fighting for control just like what happened in ww1 and ww2. So if we truly want to be independent, we've to pick a system that represent us and just maybe, we can work to perfect it. Democracy is a system that we don't understand, so we shouldn't even talk about it
Muddy Water Democracy is a system that allows you to have representation and some control over how you're ruled and what decisions are made. What voice do you have in front of a king that's made a final decision? Yes no system is perfect, so just the same we can work with the one we have. We can change it and make modifications for it to suit us better but no system that gives you less representation is good. Some people just want to bath in the glory of the concept of having a king and being in a kingdom cause it seems glamourous and they want to relive the former days. @@blackblaze5271 I get you but you're missing the point. Because in the days of African civilization, nobody thought if a kind makes a final decision, there's something left to say. People thought that's the only way things were made. until the Europeans and the Americans came and changed the narrative. And the system they brought has a big problem Democracy is not suited for everyone because the beliefs and how people behaves in a democratic system is very different from how people behaves in country where is ruled by kings and queens. Hence the suffering of Africans today. because they've abandon what is made for them and embraced something that's contrary to their nature

You can't take the old system as it is and drop it in the modern day How do we behave differently than people in democracies? We all want the same things and same rights. Otumfo isn't the only king in africa. There's the king of Lesotho in south africa, the king in swaziland also within the same region and in uganda as well i believe.
Ashanti is the most organized monarchy within Ghana. It is a constitutionally protected sub national state in union with the Republic of Ghana. It has a sub national status which is capable of being her own country and the unique thing about that kingdom. The Ashanti has so many ‘enemies’ in Ghana so choosing him as the monarch over Ghana would not be possible tho it is the largest ethnic group.

I knew someone will say, Asante king. Don't even think about it. They haven't taken over Ghana yet but they always speculate that Ghana is theirs; And for their chief to lead, no way, that will never happen. With many Kings/chiefs in Ghana, we should stay with democracy or something else. No Chie or King deserves to rule, period.
@@may_beeharuno2195 no one is saying he lords over Ghana. But you cant change the fact that he is the greatest traditional ruler we have in the country. He has the most lands and also holds the most people of the country who are the most influential as well. You cant change that fact. Go back to history. Ashanti was on the verge of becoming her own country. It is currently at a sub national status unlike any other territory in the country

Let's not sit back and speculate. No system is perfect. Africa was way back a monarch country, Where people were fighting for control just like what happened in ww1 and ww2. So if we truly want to be independent, we've to pick a system that represent us and just maybe, we can work to perfect it. Democracy is a system that we don't understand, so we shouldn't even talk about it
Muddy Water
Democracy is a system that allows you to have representation and some control over how you're ruled and what decisions are made. But they're not looking at the reality. We can move forward with culture and tradition without bringing back all the faults that come with it
@@blackblaze5271 I get you but you're missing the point. Because in the days of African civilization, nobody thought if a kind makes a final decision, there's something left to say. People thought that's the only way things were made. until the Europeans and the Americans came and changed the narrative. And the system they brought has a big problem
Democracy is not suited for everyone because the beliefs and how people behaves in a democratic system is very different from how people behaves in country where is ruled by kings and queens.
Hence the suffering of Africans today. because they've abandon what is made for them and embraced something that's contrary to their nature
@@Oyzatt
Yes that was my point, a king shouldn't have the finale decision. That system also has a big problem. A lot of injustice, inefficiencies etc.
You don't run a modern country like ghana with old traditional kingdom rules. Like i said the only way something like this would work is if new rules and new traditions are created. You can't take the old system as it is and drop it in the modern day
How do we behave differently than people in democracies? We all want the same things and same rights. Socialism is also contrary to us. Our traditions can't be defined by outside systems
Our system or Akan system is different the king don't have 100%power he can't put law he need his all of his chiefs b4
Interesting to know that about Akan system. Thanks for sharing that. It's similar to Oyo empire in Yoruba land too. Something called Oyo Mesi which usually deliberate with the king.
💯 glad someone has sense here

We would have to have more power controls and more rules that make sure the system benefits the common man if we'd bring something like this back. It would have to be lessons of the past mixed with new information and new knowledge of the present for it to be useful in my opinion

The only way i'd agree to something like this is if we modernized the system, came up with some new ideas to bring it into the modern age. Not all traditions are good, not everything old is good. This system failed us when the colonialists came, is it a coincidence that there are calls for this again now that new hopeful colonialists like china are trying to approach africa? We romanticize it now but kings weren't always looking out for the people now were they always answerable to the people. We would have to have new dynamic rules for this to work. The same way our ancestors created those rules and systems from the bottom up in the past.

Is that why they feel that, they should have given them the monarchy, to immortalize the throne of the Ashantis. And because Nkrumah didn't agree, they stagnated a whole country's development? That's selfishness, and this selfishness has blueprinted in the blood of many Ashantis till date.
@@peterassan3331 calling a whole tribe "selfish" is very wrong. You clearly know nothing about history yet you decided to accuse Asantes and call them names. The unnecessary hatred is too much. What is the level of development among the Ashantis since they gained their independence way way before the other tribes? Is there so much to show for? All these bragging things are completely unnecessary. However, we can talk about the enormous power that the Ashanti Monarchy retained and still protecting till now, and then analyse how effective and contributive it's been towards the development of the people of Ashantis in "absolute terms" not relatively. In my home country for example in Nigeria, it is shameful that many people have died because of religion clashes and i look around where I live and I don't see anything like religion clashes. I agree with you that religion teaches moral and personally I have learnt a lot from Christianity. We also know that a lot of inventions has come from both Chritianity and Islam which are two of the most popular religions in the world. But we must not forget that other religion practices has also contributed to humanity. Africa existed thousands of years before the Arabs and Europeans came to trade with us and twisted it to slavery, colonisation and through that they introduced their religion and culture to us. Why will i call IFA DIVINATION idol worship or fetish? I will not do that because IFA is a knowledge database that contains science, philosophy etc. Anyone can worship God in anyway they chooses and we should all respect one another chosen way of worshiping God and even people who say there is no God, they are also human being like us and we should respect their views. For Africans to be truly free, they've to embrace their culture because anything that's not your creation, like Christianity or Islamic, it always leaves people with more questions because they don't understand it to the core.
