I remember when the discourse around this movie was just about how "toxic" it was, and I was just like "yall, this is a cute fun movie and everyone in it kind of sucks, some more than most, but the point is that high school sucks, omg let gay people have fun things you miserable assholes- a gay", so i'm glad to see people having fun with it the way that it was meant to be engaged with.
It was like when people hated that lesbian rom-com with Lena Heady because it was "too mainstream", like, bitches getting mainstream rom-coms where Piper doesn't die at the end has been the whole ass journey of lesbian movie acceptance.

What(!) Ppl didn’t like it? I loved this when I saw it a few years ago and had to hunt down a copy of the blu ray (which was more difficult than it shoulda been).
I just assumed it was underground cult classic that only few knew about but all loved. Some viewers can’t deal with happiness I guess.

When I watched this movie the first time, I thought fawcett was going to be the antagonist in this movie, but I’m glad I was wrong since she seemed like a good friend to tanner throughout the movie, it was nice to see. The humor in this movies feel cheesy and self aware, I love it. Especially of how they make fun of the bullies and the horny closeted Mormon boyfriend. And pulling the glitter bucket at the stage that led Brent to come out will also be a fun vibe. Also how they sort of humanize Fawcett and Caprice, that was a nice touch since a lot of mean girls in movies aren’t shown like that all the time. And I agree, Shley is nice, she kind of reminds me of a parody of Cher from clueless but as a Mormon.
Yeah, it seems like just a light movie, but it actually does a really good job, playfully, tackling stereotypes, and breaking them down

Yes, I’m glad you guys had fun with this! Not much people talk this movie, it’s silly but iconic. And I agree they have some ridiculous names in this movie, its hilarious. I almost forgot since Britta will always be an unforgettable weird name to me. Also Rizzo, your dad tank top outfit looks great on you, you like Harry Styles or Matt Helders in the 60s-70s era, all you need is a fancy classic car and you look like an Italian James Dean. Oh and this is a compliment not flirting, I promise. Also you not noticing that tanner and Brent were kissing while admiring your manatee is hilarious, I hope you guys do a blooper reel of all your videos. 🤗 💜

This movie is so dumb in the best way. It sort of has the same sense of humor as Another Gay Movie (another movie I’d love to see Rizzo react to).

This movie is so fun and absolutely love Ms. JoJo Levesque doing her thing in it. Definitely feels like a successor film to Saved! (2004) with Mandy Moore and Jena Malone among others. Also TV-wise, the dialogue is a lot like the MTV show Awkward.

I remember watching this movie ages ago when I was looking for any possible queer media to watch. A wild ride lol. Y’all should check out The Way He Looks! It’s a really cute queer romance with a blind main character. It’s also a Brazilian film, so it could be a good one for your break from major studios :)

This movie has a special place in my heart, it’s so funny. It was on Netflix before streaming was popular.
I don't think you can really call that a "called it!" moment bc the movie intentionally made it obvious for the audience from the start and was just waiting for the characters to catch up lol.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! The cast is chefs kiss and it is genuinely hilarious and full of heart. It is camp to the max and i hate that not a lot of people talk about it. Like it came out when there was like minimal representation and did an amazing job of not taking itself seriously.

Michael J. Willett (Tanner in this movie) was also a main character TV show called Faking It (2014-2016) which had similar vibes to this. If you haven't seen it, I'd recommend it.

the way this movie was on repeat for me in 2013,like i never watched passed season one of faking it, even though it had 2 actors from this,and it's kinda the same vibe, but this movie like it was everything to me i love it. there are lines i still say and forgot that it was from it, like it changed my brain chemistry for sure

I watched this movie once in 2014 and it for some reason entered itself into my recurring dream world so I think about it ALL THE TIME because I constantly have dreams about it. But I forgot how cringy it was! I just remember being so annoyed at the fact that the mormons say "pastor" instead of "bishop" which is so funny to me in hindsight now that I've been an exmormon for so long.
