    Oooh yayy! I’m so glad you are doing a tutorial on this Karen! It’s so nice to find a great pencil artist to show and demonstrate this for the coloring books using Dura-Lar. I luv the watercolor Dur-Lar paper too. Unfortunately it comes with way less sheets, it’s cheaper, but it’s not as many sheets. Also, luv (and and own a few of Karolina Kubakowska coloring books. 📖 📚 As always such a beautiful image you colored and wonderful demonstration, thank you for sharing. 🙏🏻😊

    Wowsers karen. Your cat looks amazing. Much better than the image in the book. Not as cartoony. Your cat is sooo adorable.Fun way to colour for alot of colorists. I'm guessing more for animals rather than portraits. Really does look amazing. Hugs.x😘💐🌼🌹

      Thank you so much Mandy! I believe you are correct. Portraits don’t do well on this unless you are VERY experienced (which I am not!!) but it still pretty fun to play with!

    i just started working with duralar-wonderful stuff! I can get 3 or 4 layers (derwent drawing pencils) before the tooth gets filled. The coolest feature is how erasable it is. I am freehand drawing and go ahead and color, no problem if i change my mind, erase a whole section and start over.

      I’m glad you like the pergomano Elly. It’s always great when we find paper we like! Drafting film is not like parchment paper though. In fact it’s not paper at all. It’s made of polyester and is more like plastic than paper.

    Looks like an updated version of tracing paper - which has a small tooth. I used to use pen and ink on tracing paper, loved how it worked. I can see the same results here.
    One thing, too, is you can use different pictures - say, a horse from one, a background castle from other, distant hills from a third. Why limit yourself to just one?

    • @ArtbyKarenValentine
      @ArtbyKarenValentine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s definitely not tracing by paper. It’s more like plastic. It’s very sturdy and can take erasing and a slice tool beautifully. And yes! Experiment and use different elements from different sources!! Just be sure to site each artist and or photographer that you create from. ❤️😊❤️

      Hi Barbara! The link for this exact paper is right under the video near the very top in the description box. If you want to to try the upgraded version of the paper that link is in the same place but on the 3rd video of this series. (Background)

    Can you add the link for the thicker, more toothy film. Or the exact name. This product would work wonderfully in Anastasia Ella Koldereva books. I always use pan pastels for her artwork. Now no lines.

      @@theresafetch2566 I will say that doing skin on this paper is a little more challenging. Getting really smooth texture is not as easy as it is on regular paper.

    Do you sell your work how does copyright work

    • @ArtbyKarenValentine
      @ArtbyKarenValentine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do sell my work Martha, but only the original pieces I have created from a photo that was either given to me by a client, borrowed from a royalty free photo site like Pixabay or purchased from a stock photo site like wildlife reference photos.com. Pieces that have been created from another artists work, like adult coloring pages may not be sold as those images are under copyright law and belong to the original artist.

    Why are you whispering…I can hardly hear you and my volume is 100%. You sound like my little girl when she was up to something….You are absolutely amazing woman! Slice tool…what in heaven’s name are they going to come up with next…….he is adorable……

    • @ArtbyKarenValentine

      You are the only person who ever thinks I’m whispering. I hear everything just fine. Do you think I’m whispering through the whole thing? Or just occasional when I’m working things out to myself?

      @@FeathPymArt Can guys help me out please and give me idea where you can’t hear me. Is it the whole video or just in the occasional area where I’m really just talking to myself while I’m working things out. 😂 I need to know so I can fix it in the future. When I listen back everything is loud and clear. Thank you!❤️

    • @FeathPymArt
      @FeathPymArt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ArtbyKarenValentine For sure when you're mumbling to yourself, working something out in your head. I recognized that and didn't really try to listen. Other times when I think you had your head down. I'm not sure why I thought that now, but my internal visual was your head went down. Depends on where your mic is - if its above you, in the camera, then I think you were talking into the table, and it was absorbing some of the sound. If it is a clip on mic, something went between you and the mic, muting it.
      Those were the times it was impossible to hear. Overall, it was just muted and difficult to follow.
      One easy fix might be, when editing, make your audio +5. Those who can hear you fine, can lower their audio, where those who are struggling might have a better chance of hearing it.
      Hope this book of a reply helps lol
