- So this week we finished up the roller beetle! i am working towards getting the required mastery points for the autoloot mastery, finally got back into fractals and raids a little bit, hoping to make progress on the Envoy 1 collection here soon. Additionally im looking forward to getting into the living world seasons and IBS after i blast this map comp. we are about 3 months into this account, at about 114 hours played we are getting pretty close to being able to craft 2 gen 1 legendaries, after that i'll be doing the "Return to" collection for the legendary amulets and Gen 3 Precursor. so we are rocking steady with the account progress, and getting pretty close to some of those "late game goals". i wouldn't be surprised to have legendary armor done by the time we hit 6 months or so. once we get these essentials out of the way, it'll be easy to get the required materials for the collections.
I'll try to get a SOTO review with the expectations of the new expac out sometime later this week but no guarantees.

I think for a regular 0-Hero discord is out of the “new player” experience. But your version is “going back in time and knowing what I know using that” so I think a raid discord is acceptable. The LFG feels so dead in NA and it might be a good way to get new players who watch this (if they are) to look into joining the community discords.

Q0): I think your average new player wouldn't be aware of Discord resources, but, I *do* believe most players that are getting to the point where your new account is ARE typically aware of them and have joined at least one or two. I think posting your LFGs there are a good way to showcase what good resources they are when in-game LFG is quiet.
Q1): System reworks: Echoing what I'm seeing in the comments already about LFG overhaul. I know auto-queue type systems can't work for GW2 because of the fluidity of classes into various roles, but the current UI could use some restructuring instead of the massive, clunky list we work with now. Something else I've wanted for ages, and this is probably never going to happen, but I'd love some kind of depository for all my lore/story items, like a character/account library. I'm talking about items like Marjory's Journal that's been taking up a bank slot since 2013, The Book of Vlast/Memories of Vlast, Epics of Deldrimor, Correspondence from E, and on and on. I think I have at least one full bank tab of it all, and I love the items, but I hate them just... sitting there.
Q2): My merman is definitely top half human. I want to be able to talk to him! Besides, I loved The Shape of Water, I'd deal with the fishparts that are going on down there. And I can't believe I just typed that sentence, but w/e, it's staying there. 🤣
An LFG rework would be amazing. I think I will set up a wing 3 group just to highlight the resource.
I originally saw the mermaid question on 4chan in the early 2000s and some of the responses were absolutely diabolical, so don't feel bad lol

Q1. For a system rework i just want them to remove the wardrobe armor weight restrictions, i want my engineer and ranger have a heavy armor cosplay :3
But for real a revamp of trading post is kinda good idea too.

Hallo. I'd love the customization with armor weight removal in the wardrobe. It would turn GW2 into a real sandbox, though with the swimsuits I highly doubt people will need any armor any time soon. (Or maybe it's just me?).
I think Discord-use is OK!
Q1: As many people have stated, achievements needs a re-work. Like a quest log or such, any fix is a good fix i believe.
Group management is a nightmare and just very basic, it needs a re-work as it is a huge pain in the ass to manage people. Maybe that's just a me problem?
Q2: Option A all the way. I feel like option b would be to disturbing, I'm imagining the noise of the carrot eating fish...

Thanks! I'm trying to get them done and scheduled earlier so I can maintain consistency for this series at the very least. The other uploads will get sprinkled in when they get done but I'm really trying for Z2H to maintain a Monday morning upload timeslot. Looking forward to the news tomorrow!
Tbh, I've seen so many new players on the GW2 Discords I'm on (both on private guild Discords and on the more public GW2 Discords), that I don't think being on a Discord server is too far out of "new-player-experience" purview.
1) I'll probably echo what a few others have said (which I think stems from a Laranity comment, but it might have another origin I'm not aware of): I'd love to see achievements reworked into a quest log. Not all of them, but maybe the story-centric ones. Like, I had no idea that there was an epilogue to EoD until I heard it through the grapevine, and apparently there's SoTO bonus story stuff in the achievements?? Would be nice if that+mount collections were easier to tell apart from the standard "You've played the game a ton and done something cool!" achievements.
2) All I can think about with this question is a family conversation where we debated whether mermaids were a gateway to, ah, eating other humans . . . so, top half human. It's harder to justify hunting down and eating something when it can talk to you.
Oh yeah, achievements are a mess. I just wish there was a way to prog it further after capping dailies. On my main it's really a slog
I think that for raids it would be better to possibly look for a guild that is recruiting in map chat instead of a discord. i think that the zero to hero loses something if u use discord, but a guild would be a really interesting angle that shows a part of the experience other videos don't
I did join a guild that raids, however not during my playtime. I may just try to fill groups using them and by using the LFG. We will see.

I did join a guild that has a discord so far they seem to not have noticed that I'm not a new player.
What's wrong with a discord group?
For q1. Definitely the LFG system... They should implement a LFG menu similar to FFXIV where you can see a full list of every LFG active in their respective categories. As it currently stands there isn't an easy way to see ALL the parties active without clicking through many categories... Having a condensed FULL LFG menu where you're able to see ALL active parties would really boost player participation in less popular metas and maps!
q2. TOP HALF HUMAN
i think if you want the relatable experience for Zero to Hero series, i think Discord would be a little broken. Most ppl are kinda noobs and dont disc tbh. i think you can do an episode of Pug vs Discord, but most ppl in disc gonna be better. either way, im all for it. cheers
Yeah that's why I strayed away. I was like "eh I can just cover raid discords without using them" so I'll probably just do that instead. Ultimately this series is about the journey not necessarily the outcomes.

I'm for Discord group. LFG is too slow in NA. No need to add unnecessary delays.
I'm all for it too under normal circumstances. I just need some more gearsets before I can effectively grind.
Q1 - I’m actually afraid they’re gonna do player housing. The Achievement system really really needs a rework to a “Quest Log” rebrand. There’s so much content there but most players don’t know. SOTO did a good job directing players to it BUT new players aren’t going straight to SOTO. Daily and Weekly stuff in the Achievements panel need to get moved to the Wizard Vault (doesn’t need to give AA) so that it’s more obviously what your daily/weekly resets and progress look like without looking at 2 different systems.
Q2 - human top. It’s just too unnerving talking to a fish head lol
Yeah player housing would be ass imo. But I know other people would like it. I already have a personal guild so I'm not sure what player housing would actually do.
