Talk about inspiration. I always want to immediately go make this kind of sign after watching a Diresta video! Especially with those simple wiring bulbs!
Nice looking sign. The CNC to avoid all that metal bending is a game changer. It also opens up some opportunities for more color, that’s cool. Those bulbs look like a great solution!
great Jim always love your videos , they inspire me . but your voice and cool sense of being is just on another level I enjoy listening to you .... you should write a book . the audio book and standard books will go liker hot cakes from all subscribers I'm sure .
Such vivid, strong & uplifting colors, very like how they paint amusement rides at traveling fairs in the uk, giving a stunning warming ambiance in the cold dark nights of winter. Thank you for sharing!
I love/hate working with MDF. Great stable material but dusty as heck! Here's a tip (in case you didn't know) Before painting cut edges of mdf, because it sucks paint up like a sponge, if you take a 50/50 mixture of titebond glue/water and paint the cut edges it will form an eggshell cover to be able to paint over.
aahhh, the Diresta Time Lapse shop build videos...love these things. When I first found your channel I binged everyone of those early shop time lapse videos in about 1 week. Great stuff!!!
It’s cool to see how you used to do this kind of thing with the bandsaw and aluminum flashing, and now how you do it with the CNC. Not hating, just cool to see the progression.
I made a knock-down commode to compliment a drawing table I built about 1973. I made it from MDF veneered with .060" quarter sawn red oak. Hobbywoods of Baltimore was in business then, don't suppose they're around anymore. The MDF was surely heavy enough but had no strength. Over the many years, I meant to redo that little piece of casework, but since the veneer was so pretty, I never did. All was not lost; I learned early on that MDF sucks. PS - regarding Hobbywoods, I went there with my friend to get the teak decking for the 30' trimaran he was building. We hauled the stuff to the sweaty basement of the farmhouse I was renting in Calvert County, MD, and proceeded to rip beautiful 8-10", FAS teak boards into nominally 1 1/2" strips for the decking using my 6" Champion bench saw(fixed arbor, no tilt, right on the nuts accurate). With every 8th or so cut, I would think, "Well there goes another inch of board."
Awesome job Jimmy as always. Can't wait to see more videos on this great project soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Keep making. God bless.
Excelente proyecto muy bien desarrollado y mejor ejecutado , gracias por compartir tanta creatividad y conocimientos , un saludo cordial y por supuesto un gran like desde Narón Galicia (España) 🤓
I was a little concerned when you painted the green first. I thought the white would have a hard time covering it, but that white is very opaque. Also, I believe this sign would be Wesley Treat approved!
I know there are some people who feel carpenters/makers who use a CNC are not actually capable of woodworking, but I would like to see someone do that much work, that quickly, and with very little scrap leftover by hand. I am not saying it is impossible, but I think it would take a lot longer to achieve and still not be that precise, and that is the point of this comment; time is money. When you can save time (and resources) by using technology, why would you not want to?
You said on the podcast/Instagram that you'd never go back to doing these signs with the flashing. Was the CNC really that much faster/easier? I've wanted to do a marquee of some kind for a while and I always planned on using the flashing.
Where’d you get those light sockets that you wire together yourself? I’ve been planning on making marquee letters like this for my wedding and they look way better than the string lights.
I was wondering the entire time if those are 12V bulbs or mains bulbs. I thought surely he would not handle 110V like that (9:11) but aparently i was wrong :D Mains makes alot more sense though, you'd need quite a huge transformer/PSU for that many bulbs if it was 12V
Hey Diresta .. remember working in your Newyork shop.. whats it like working on a cnc that would have taken ever square foot of the place? keep up the good work bro, always love your stuff..
Awesome build. Binge watched your channel a few months ago 💪🏼👍🏼 When I started watching just couldn’t stop, so inspiring. You sir are a maker magician. Respect🙏
Great end result, however as a fourth generation signage manufacturer, I would be cautious manufacturing that style of signage for sale (read customer paid) without a UL listing. I have seen many companies go under over the years for this exact reason. Wood is not an approved UL listed material for illumination, and if any fire is created in the space, regardless if your product created it or not, if they can track down the trail they will as for the UL listing on the product. I appreciate everything you build, just words of caution. Keep up the great work!
I always love the sign builds. Makes me want to go make one myself.
Me to,when I was in the Navy the hobby shop on base had an unlimited supply of Plexiglas🤗😎🤗😎
Have you seen his This Old House video using flashing? These scale up pretty well too!
Your attention to detail and perfectionism is addictive to watch.
Talk about inspiration. I always want to immediately go make this kind of sign after watching a Diresta video! Especially with those simple wiring bulbs!
Something satisfying about a cnc and country music, so incongruous. Love the sign builds as always!
I love when you make marquee signs like this one. Some of the best craftsmanship and videographer skills I’ve ever seen.
Nice looking sign. The CNC to avoid all that metal bending is a game changer. It also opens up some opportunities for more color, that’s cool. Those bulbs look like a great solution!
What entertainment, all the mediums you work with and proficient at, is amazing.
All that fussin around really adds up,the final lit up thing is stunning.
How many other people never heard of H41 wines before this series? Jimmy gave them some free advertising. Two million subs yo.
I admire your skills with a paint brush - Thanks Jimmy! 👍
great Jim
always love your videos , they inspire me .
but your voice and cool sense of being is just on another level
I enjoy listening to you ....
you should write a book .
the audio book and standard books will go liker hot cakes from all subscribers I'm sure .
Really like the simplicity of the light socket wiring.
You are a hero man, cowboy, may God protect you from all evil.
Sounds like you have some classic jazz with a New York vide playing in the shop. Awesome
Such vivid, strong & uplifting colors, very like how they paint amusement rides at traveling fairs in the uk, giving a stunning warming ambiance in the cold dark nights of winter. Thank you for sharing!
Ahhh…like the good ol sign making videos from back in the day 😉!!

Sign videos are what I believe to be the reason I started watching Jimmy. Always love them
in the good old classic style! SUPER!
You top makers, make it look so easy….after 20+ years at it, you get this good……thanks for sharing brother……awesome work.
aahhh, the Diresta Time Lapse shop build videos...love these things. When I first found your channel I binged everyone of those early shop time lapse videos in about 1 week. Great stuff!!!
Once again I was Entertained / Educated . Learned a lot . Stay well to Taylor , Willie and you my brother
I’m from this area of CA where hwy 41 is! That’s so cool love the sign Jimmy!
It’s cool to see how you used to do this kind of thing with the bandsaw and aluminum flashing, and now how you do it with the CNC. Not hating, just cool to see the progression.
Love the sign builds
Making sign letters is so much fun! I built 2 foot tall “REV” for the Reverend Horton Heat in metal with carnival lights, it goes on tour with them.
FELIZ AÑO SEÑOR JIMMY......MUY BUENA MAQUINA........ABRAZO FUERTE......REYNOSA
I saw this thumbnail in my subs page and thought it was a Wesley Treat video. Great job!
I love that idea of just pouring some paint onto the craft paper, instead of using (and having to clean) a roller pan or some such.
Love the music, terrific project!!!
I have yet to make a sign but a classic DiResta sign video is always an inspiration!
Beautiful work as usual Jimmy! It was nice to see Patrick in there too!
Amazing, Jimmy! Really beautiful work! 😃
The red color really makes you think about wine!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
That was a really fantastic build Jimmy! One thing for sure is that you can't miss those signs at night! 👍😉

Nicely done!
The color is beautiful. Deep red and a sweet green against the white border. 🤙🏼
I love your videos because I get inspired and learn something new EVERY TIME.
I knew I woke up early on a Saturday for a reason!! 👍🏻🤜🏻🤛🏻🍻
sempre bello vederti lavorare.... grande jimmy
old school Jimmy.....awesome.!
I really enjoyed the background music.
I love seeing your cnc videos!!
One of these days I’m going to make a sign like that, thanks for the inspiration Jimmy!
Love this. Can you give us details on those light plugs?
Awesome job Jimmy as always. Can't wait to see more videos on this great project soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Keep making. God bless.
Good job Jimmy Diresta well done
I like the old diresta videos more. This cnc job is more like a signage shop job. Id like to see the creative diresta more.
Love it 👍 great work
Excelente proyecto muy bien desarrollado y mejor ejecutado , gracias por compartir tanta creatividad y conocimientos , un saludo cordial y por supuesto un gran like desde Narón Galicia (España) 🤓
Awesome build. 👍
Highlands 41 Winery, in Paso Robles now. Can't find the winery though. Nice sign Jimmy, thought I might see it in person.
Another great build Jimmy , but never heard of California 41 wines 🍷 before
Love your sign videos!
Nice one Jimmy
I was a little concerned when you painted the green first. I thought the white would have a hard time covering it, but that white is very opaque. Also, I believe this sign would be Wesley Treat approved!
One shot sign painters enamel
Go, Jimmy! Go! Good stuff!
Great film. Impressive skills when hand lettering. Sign is awesome. Mahalo for sharing! 🙂🐒🤙
This guy is the nuts. Top man 👍
All I can say is "Wow"!
You give me inspiration with every video sir thanks again. Make On my Brother. From your friend Maker 238!
Nice use of the bu-du-du-du-du-duh tool in this one.
(Yeah I'm a few weeks behind on the podcast...)

Woohoo I got in early enough to get 2 of the razor blades
Вывеска просто огонь 🔥🔥🔥
Are you planning a Patreon voice over for this build? Thanks for the build video, impressive design choices, fab and final deliverable.
Anyone know where to get those light bulbs are they 12v? Crazy cool looking sign.
There's a winery on California 41 right across the street from the 22 Mile House gas station I wonder if this was made for that looks dope either way
Good stuff Jimmy!!!
Nice job Jimmy, well done ;)
Fantastic!
PROJECT REQUEST:
Briquette Machine for all of your sawdust.
Trailer?) It looks like a finished video!
Read the description lol
@@TVHF_POND thanks XD, but looking at the likes, I'm not alone
You said on the podcast/Instagram that you'd never go back to doing these signs with the flashing. Was the CNC really that much faster/easier? I've wanted to do a marquee of some kind for a while and I always planned on using the flashing.
Cool! Can you share where you get those bulb holders? They look pretty slick to wire up. thanks for the constant inspiration Jimmy
x2
Good video , good music
Lovely!
🔥Diresta🔥
Where’d you get those light sockets that you wire together yourself? I’ve been planning on making marquee letters like this for my wedding and they look way better than the string lights.
That CNC looks a lot faster than the flashing. And you can see it in the final result. The wavy sides look bad compared to your earlier work.
Why don't you use an air compressor por painting?
Yee haa! Another masterpiece.
I was wondering the entire time if those are 12V bulbs or mains bulbs. I thought surely he would not handle 110V like that (9:11) but aparently i was wrong :D
Mains makes alot more sense though, you'd need quite a huge transformer/PSU for that many bulbs if it was 12V
Can you share the info for the light sockets you used. I’m thinking about making a sign like this for my man cave. Thanks.
Look up action lighting
There is a light missing from the "N" crossbar. You can see the dark spot when illuminated.
Love this. Anyone know of a UK supply for lamp holders like this, or similarly neat ones?
California Hiway 41…. Morro Bay to Yosemite. 👍
great video thanks jimmy ciao

Thank you 🙏🏼
Damn good tune! Jerry Douglas?
What is the diameter of the holes for those lights? Great work!
GREAT GREAT JOB 👍🇲🇽
Very illuminating on how these types of signs are constructed. See what I did there? And I think the music works, especially for the time-lapse.
fantastic!! where can i get the sockets I'm your fan!!!
Where do you get the lights from?
Any details on the bulb socket system you used?
What exactly are those simple wiring sockets?
